ROLL THE DICE Make a move, walk ahead Stop and skip a turn, it said, Jump a few and kill... Roll the dice n feel the thrill!

Treading in the dark even when in the light We often fall and tumble and fight and smile and shed a tear or fright the uncertain next roll of His divine dice.

Oh! nice it would've been in real if life gave options and a hint Alas! It wont ever give a feel of the mess or the possible glint.

Trust his light, trust his dark be calm in the storm and in the Ice kiss the fateline and embark on a journey He deems fits us nice!

"I know but one freedom and that is the freedom of the mind". “Antoine de Saint-Exupéry" Freedom is an innate right which humans have since their birth. Vague ideas about freedom expressed usually are something that can be touched, seen, felt or reached. Then question arises what exactly does freedom mean? Different people have expressed different opinions, definitions and thoughts about the idea of freedom. Some communicate in political sense, some talk about social freedom, some about personal independence and some define it as religious freedom. But the fact that everyone wants to be free, holds true in all cases. “The best road to progress is freedom’s road.” – John F. Kennedy Freedom is the choice to live one’s life doing what one wants, live where one desires, eat by own choice and learn what one’s heart aspires. This means it is not an undivided term but the freedom can applies to divergent aspects of life.

Freedom is all a state of your mind. It implies that your mind is under no fear or compulsion of safety in life. It is non denial of our basic rights as humans. Some freedom is specific to the age group that we fall into. A child is free to be loved and cared by parents and other members of family and play around. So this nurturing may be the idea of freedom to a child. Living in a crime free society in safe surroundings may mean freedom to a bit grown up child. Similarly to a youngster or a teen ager, freedom may be about hanging out with friends, enjoying group activities. Some teens may want to involve in social service and contribute freely to the cause of underprivileged or poor. It may mean freedom to them. Old people may seek security of health and life, spend good time with grandchildren, involve in religious and social activities and believe it to be their freedom.

NOVEMBER 2020 - 003

Freedom is a way of thinking and understanding world around, and each person understands it in his or her own way, and of course all of us have own understanding of it. And each of us are well within right to fight for freedom of our own . In broader sense freedom is actions of individuals who don’t need to ask themselves “why?” and just do things they love to do. Freedom is the absence of borders; you can feel freedom in your mind and freedom around you. Imagine that you are at the mountain peak and the world is a small point at the bottom. Do you feel freedom surrounding you? I can bear that you are! That is the real freedom which has a smell of wind and mountains, the skies in front of you. Birds are free to fly anywhere, and I can say for sure that you can also choose your own route.

So freedom can be connected with anything, either actions or thoughts and each person free to express his or her freedom if it doesn’t limit or violates the rights of others. Freedom is around us, and our understanding of this word is different but always closely connected with people around us. Freedom to choose, freedom to do, understand, think, get or any other verb we can insert after the word freedom. It is great to have freedom and a lot of people are still fighting . And I hope they will soon get it in one or another way. The world without freedom is too cruel to live in, and if I had no freedom, I would probably be depressed with its absence. Pratibha Sopori

Understanding the Freedom Did we actually get freedom? In my opinion we just got independence but still we are not free. Many books, articles and stories have been written about freedom but the actual problem is not freedom, it’s just a state of mind. Our mind is inclining to this word of freedom. Our mind is occupied by pessimistic thoughts that have been set up by social society. We are not free from mind; our mind is in constant thinking. It is always on unrest, hustling on what to do? When to do? Where to do? How to do? This so many WH have imprisoned our freedom of thoughts. Now, what does it mean to be free? Is it that whatever you do? Going wherever you like? Thinking of anything? This is actually what we make mistake, it’s not freedom. Many people in the world got freedom but still they are not free. Freedom comes from intelligence, and it’s not that we thought we are intelligent and we are free but it starts from your surrounding environment. Our little world of thoughts is controlled by social, religious, parental and traditional influences.

They make you so too narrow to come out of it. Instead of understanding these influences, we are convinced by them to abide by their influences. What society will think? How will my parents react? What will XYZ religious guru say? What will happen if I don’t follow family tradition etc. these vicious thoughts implies over our intelligence and steal away our freedom of thoughts. We want to be free from it, we already know that we are going in wrong direction yet we will go just because we are afraid of its consequences. When there is fear for freedom than it is very hard to get rid of it. Our expectations, our ambitions, our popularity and with these new world’s social world fondly called as social media has ruthlessly crushed the freedom of thoughts. Don’t most of us want to be safe? Don’t we want to be a famous personality? Everyday we wake up, looking at mirror and think wow, How lovely I look! We all want to be extraordinary that’s why we all have names.

NOVEMBER 2020 - 005

We all want to be recognized and the moment we want to be something, we are not free. It’s real clue to understand the problem of freedom. It’s actually a very complex problem as we all want to be somebody else, we throw our fake personality. We are actually just like our Aadhar card photo, but we show the world our instagram photo where everything are filtered. This filtering is the root cause of imprisonment of thought. In addition comparison in this bitter world makes it harder to make us free from this stigma. That XYZ person is more successful, be like your elder brother, just learn something from Mr. XYZ’s son, he is so obedient. All these bullshit hammered our mind and smashed all the freedom of speech.

The right education will help to understand the freedom. It is so simple that we just need to be ourselves all the time. We are not spending time with ourselves, we are in constant touch with outer world but there is dark imprisonment in inner world. We are not educated for this, our education encourages us to be ourselves, understand ourselves, our self and that is the most difficult task to perform. The new world’s hope is us, to see what is right and wrong? Face this problem of freedom and not just verbally but by doing. Don’t just try, wake up and do it from today to learn the actual meaning of freedom. Sunil Gohil

FREE INDIA Freedom- independence. Had a very different meaning 73 years ago. Bound in the shackles of the Britishers, our dear freedom fighters revolted and fought selflessly, without thinking of personal consequences. It didn't matter whether they were trained or not, were rich or poor, had the means or belonged to which caste or religion. Their eagle eyes were focused only on one common dream- free India. Not only did they sacrifice their lives, but also motivated others to stand up against injustice. Netaji's JAI HIND or Bankim Chandra's VANDE MATARAM can never be forgotten and Indians today will forever be indebted to these strong pillars of our free and independent India. Having said that, today, FREEDOM has a totally divergent approach and a very different meaning. No doubt India has made tremendous progress in the last 73 years, nonetheless there are so many aspects which we can never be proud of. It is quite shameful, that globally, India stands third in the highest rape statistics. Crime in general is equally towering. Likewise, increasing corruption is not far behind.

Isn't it ironic, that the freedom for which countless people sacrificed their lives, lost families and homes, our nation was divided, what have we done to cherish that independence? What has been our contribution in preserving the rich heritage of India? What is the freedom status of our country today? It has definitely changed. Youth, the future of our nation, what is freedom to them? Freedom of choice. To be allowed to do what they want to do, without being judged by family, friends and society. Women of India, what is freedom for them? Education and the security to live without fear. To be able to breathe and live with their heads held high in dignity. And not just considered a toy which can be moved around at the whims and fancies of the male dominated surroundings. Furthermore, the poor and underprivileged, for them, to be able to fulfill survival needs would mean freedom. It would be enough for them if they are not sidelined by the rich and are able to obtain their rights. The government and the common man, both are equally responsible for the state of our country as it is today. No one can excuse themselves and say, "I am not responsible for this." Each one of us needs to take it personally. Just like our freedom fighters. If they had thought, "It's not my headache, why should I bother?" You think we would be a free nation today? My motherland has given me immense. What have I done in return? We only have to try and make our local neighbourhood a better place, in any small way we can. And when each one thrives like this, our country at large will see a proud and progressive tomorrow. Like Bapu said, "You must be the change you wish to see in the world." -Mahatma Gandhi ŠShamim Merchant NOVEMBER 2020 - 007

Pune- A Heartland of Urbanity Pune, the second largest city of Maharashtra stands proudly as a historical base of the Peshwas, the Prime ministers of the Maratha Empire. The land of Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his legacy stands in the western part of India. Every street, every corner of the city narrates a story of the bravery and the valor of the Marathas. One such historical fort that stands tall in the heart of the city is the “Shaniwar Wada” built by a great Maratha warrior Bajirao Peshwa is a perfect fusion of the ancient culture and courage. The beautiful architecture of the fort will take you to the courts of this great warrior and narrate the tales of his victory. As you pass through the streets of Pune, amongst the noisy streets and narrow lanes stands very quiet, very pious a beautiful temple of Ganpati. You cannot but miss the mesmerizing bright, radiant 7.5 feet high idol of Lord Ganpati looking very humble and with a royal smile clad with ornaments. This spectacle is beyond expression and you would just want to sit in the serenity of this charming deity. Once you step out of the temple, you enter into the hustle-bustle of the city market taking you into the crowd rushing to nowhere. The colourful clothes,

shoes, bags, dangling jewels, and other attractive households. Pune city is not all about buildings and markets, but the silent version of it lies in the outskirts with the hills, dams, rivers, and ancient forts. One of them is the Sinhagad fort perched on the range of Sahyadri Mountains at about 1,312 km above the sea level. This fort is popular amongst the trekkers due to its strategically built steep slopes. Other forts like the Tikona fort also attracts adventure lovers. Lonavala, Bhushi Dam adds to the scenic beauty of Pune. Not to miss the private, planned city of Lavasa which gives a glimpse of Italian style. Pune is famous for its hot steaming Vada Pav with fried green chillies and some garlic chutney, a perfect companion for tea lovers in the rain. Pohe, Sabudana Khichdi, Misal Pav, authentic bhakri, bhaji and bhat (rice) should also make your drool. Don’t forget to buy some chikki from Lonavala, Laxmi Narayan Chiwda, and Yes... the Shrewsberry cookies from the Kayani Bakery. Pune is a perfect combination for beautiful nature, adventure, IT, and foodies too, and not to forget the smooth, broad, and comfortable roads that make the driving experience joyful. Pune has its own International airport, a huge developed railway station. We could easily and comfortably reach Pune from Mumbai, all thanks to the Mumbai Pune expressway. Time to visit almost throughout the year due to its pleasant and favourable weather. Umeet Kaur Bal

K. Ramesh P.G. Asst, Madurai, Tamilnadu FREEDOM: Freedom is something that everybody has heard of but if you ask for its meaning then everyone will give you different meaning. This is so because everyone has a different opinion about freedom. For some freedom means the freedom of going anywhere they like, for some it means to speak up form themselves, and for some, it is liberty of doing anything they like. Meaning of Freedom The real meaning of freedom according to books is. Freedom refers to a state of independence where you can do what you like without any restriction by anyone. Moreover, freedom can be called a state of mind where you have the right and freedom of doing what you can think off. Also, you can feel freedom from within. The Indian Freedom Indian is a country which was earlier ruled by Britisher and to get rid of these rulers India fight back and earn their freedom. But during this long fight, many people lost their lives and because of the sacrifice of those people and every citizen of the country, India is a free country and the world largest democracy in the world. Moreover, after independence India become one of those countries who give his citizen some freedom right without and restrictions.

The Indian Freedom Right India drafted a constitution during the days of struggle with the Britishers and after independence it became applicable. In this constitution, the Indian citizen was given several fundaments right which is applicable to all citizen equally. More importantly, these right are the freedom that the constitution has given to every citizen. These right are right to equality, right to freedom, right against exploitation, right to freedom of religion¸ culture and educational right, right to constitutional remedies, right to education. All these right give every freedom that they can’t get in any other country. Value of Freedom The real value of anything can only be understood by those who have earned it or who have sacrificed their lives for it. Freedom also means liberalization from oppression. It also means the freedom from racism, from harm, from the opposition, from discrimination and many more things. Freedom does not mean that you violate others right, it does not mean that you disregard other rights. Moreover, freedom means enchanting the beauty of nature and the environment around us. The Freedom of Speech Freedom of speech is the most common and prominent right that every citizen enjoy. Also, it is important because it is essential for the all-over development of the country. Moreover, it gives way to open debates that helps in the discussion of thought and ideas that are essential for the growth of society. Besides, this is the only right that links with all the other rights closely. More importantly, it is essential to express one’s view of his/her view about society and other things. To conclude, we can say that Freedom is not what we think it is. It is a psychological concept everyone has different views on. Similarly, it has a different value for different people. But freedom links with happiness in a broadway. NOVEMBER 2020 - 009

EDUCATION VS LITERACY Education is the life-long process for the acquisition of knowledge, It’s the gateway of literacy, an ongoing process, pay homage, Entry to success, gives knowledge, wisdom and experience, A human resource, passport to freedom, everyday existence.

On the other literacy is not about textbook lessons adaption, Just about acquiring skills and learning transformation, It’s not a luxury, it’s right and responsibility longtime strife, It unlocks the door, an eye-opener to learning, throughout life.

One of the basic amenity with degrees matter, So many dreams, does this harsh reality shatter, It’s a system of examination demands rote memorization, Mugging up of different concepts and percepts, orientation.

Both are road to human progress to realize our skill and potential, Failures and mistakes are part of learning process, demands credential, Literacy is like eyes whereas education is the Retina to visualize the sight, All are literate excited!! All are educated Hakuna Matata!!!its our might. R.Vijayashanthi NOVEMBER 2020 - 010

FREEDOM Freedom, a simple word given to a topic that can be understood even if one lives for infinity... Infinity, another such word. These are words we use daily, but when you think of it, every definition fells wrong, something missing or everything wrong or everything right according to the rules but unrelatable. According to me freedom is a deception we ourselves in every day and night. We say everyday “we live in a free country and are free to speak and do whatever we like”. Is that really the case? According to me, no. Freedom is when you can shut down anything and everything that annoys and disturbs you. When you find some song emotional you just stop listening, but how can you shut down what is happening to you. We can have had freedom of the ideal world since a long time, freedom from social bindings, stereotypes and expectations is being worked on, many have got it too, but the freedom that is nearly impossible (nearly impossible for a living person) to have is from the things and thoughts made from ourself. You cannot shut down the voice in your head constantly annoying you all life no matter how hard you try.

Ever heard two sides of your body battle, not brain and heart but two sides of brain (brain mostly wins over heart in my case, so I stopped calling that a battle). One side of my brain advises me to act on my impulse, speak whatever comes in your head and that there is no such thing as consequence, while the other side protests that what will everyone around me think, what if I hurt someone, respecting others is necessary, at least live up to the borderline of expectation from parents and teachers and the list goes on and on. Both sides are correct (I do not have the write to define something as correct or wrong, it will always be best option in someone’s list and worst mistake in other’s) have their own points, but you always go with the second side. The reasons are complicated, the best I could find is that first one’s advice can be followed in an ideal world but second one is best in the real world. All this is for those who have gained freedom from social bindings and relations (all except parental, both ways). If that is not the case then the monk in the temple and the neighbor aunt with binoculars fixed on your window along with the gossip gang of school already suppressed the first side without even letting it express his innocence. NOVEMBER 2020 - 011

Innocence is a bliss, not knowing anything, shooting aimlessly in the dark, not caring if it hit someone in the eye or the bullseye. But staying in the dark for so long that sunlight needs to be fought and walking on a defined path with a goal rather than wandering aimlessly seeming a tiring work is not a very good thing either. According to me freedom is when someone can follow the first voice throughout their lives without regretting their choice at every turn of life. Sounds difficult right? I had mentioned it at the start, following my definition of freedom (or anything else) is nearly impossible, although the goal is what every soul would love and trade anything for. So, I have solutions to make my definition come true, I don’t recommend the first one but I need to give it as it is an option. Death. Free from everything including yourself and things and thoughts created from yourself. I AM NOT ADVISING THIS. But still if forced by circumstances, first think from second part of your head and let your heart give a little bit of say in this. If you still think that is the best road, then before following the road, let all the turns that lead you there, know what they have done, and do everything that the first voice told you since your breath without even caring to acknowledge the second one. I use death as an asset and liberty. It encourages me to do whatever I deem right in the minute because who knows maybe the next minute your ancestors behind you! And everything blows up or the sun eats the Earth in the next this minute turning all labor into dust! Sorry, scared you to hell, didn’t I? That’s one of the may qualities I have. So, now my way of achieving my definition of freedom. Here is where you see me as a positive person and not just as someone who talks and believes in nothing but dark. Firstly, turn your heart ALMOST off and let brain rule.

Which voice? Second voice. Strange, right? So, here you tell the first voice to take the higher road and let the second voice win for some time. The second voice is what helps you to struggle to achieve your dreams and be successful while the second voice tells you how to live your life to the fullest. So, you follow the second and go where it leads you until the day your signature becomes your autograph and the most difficult choice is in the morning between Rolls-Royce and Jaguar. After this you can listen to the first voice without any consequences affecting you (but also acknowledge the second voice once) or your heart. I am still working on this but I know that is trick will provide the outcome, affirmatively. Bill Gates for an example, he does not have to think what will be the neighbor’s opinion before opening a bottle of champagne first thing in morning. You have two options- either you let the lack of freedom kill you every day or use the want as fuel every day to achieve it. For those of you who think that I still care about other’s expectations this article is a strong evidence to oppose your opinion. I was expected to be writing sugar-coated positive things about freedom are abut the sacrifices of 1857, but here I am revealing one of the darkest secrets of life. “You don’t know what goes on in anyone’s life but yours” Try keeping this secret to yourself, just the way others have kept it or else by the time you regret and try to hide it is too late. The Freedom is OURS "Freedom is the oxygen of the soul," says Moshe Dayan. Freedom ,not just a mere word , is a basic humanitarian right of all humans who came out from the wombs of affection. Different people bear varied perspectives upon "freedom." To me , freedom is being free to decide and implement out what our heart sponsors for . In other words , the absence of pressure and compulsion from the outside spirits other than our own. Many at times , people get depressed or get discouraged due to the non-existence of freedom, even in situations when they call themselves to be in freedom. And yes, I have a ton of examples to justify my opinions out. For instance , when a child is forced by his parents to pursue his studies in a field he isn't interested in, just for gaining fame in the society. This is an epitome of how deprivation of personal freedom of choice even in an independent state like India demotivates youths from pursuing their desired goals. With time, Freedom becomes an attribute that manifests itself into an unbreakable realm of belief , which if deprived of at an early age, can be emotionally disastrous. Keeping this in mind,

it is the duty of all parents and middle-aged youths to encourage their kids and younger siblings to have a freedom-based mind and not to limit themselves. Freedom brings peace of mind. The fathomless waters of emotional intelligence and comprehension of the world around us is usually a by-product of freedom. Freedom makes the mind limitless. People talk about aiming for the skies of heaven, when mankind has even stepped on the moon. Then why sky? Why even moon? Let's aim for Mars this time! It is evident that more the freedom of the mind, more possibilities open up to hasten up our pace in the eternal race between us and time. A caged bird in a house won't know about the prospects of the undiscovered world outside. Its mind remains narrow. But when , it gets introduced to the vast world outside, prospects increase , hope rises , possibilities become more, success becomes imminent , freedom hurls up its roots upto the climax . When the bird goes near the trees, it finds fellow friends. Some start catching fishes , begin to taste wild insects previously undiscovered and out of its reach, gets to roam about in merriment with its comrades and invent the long lost and abandoned freedom. These are the precepts of freedom . "The Freedom shall not be taken away from us, We shall break all bars We shall fight for our own freedom, For the Freedom is Ours." Let go and let God Oh God! make the world free from corona soon, Please facilitate it with this boon. Corona has stolen the colours of the life, Please paint it again with peachy bright. Corona has affected human's life very deep, hammered their freedom and forced them to weep. Took away everyone's happiness, also made them economical worse. Oh God! Make the world free from corona soon. Now everyone is fed up of making their strong immune. Following social distancing, using sanitizer and wearing mask, Everyday we are sick of following the same task. Through this, we are showing humanity towards alike, But in all of this we lost the true bliss of life. Oh God! Make the world free from corona soon.

Please we are begging you don't leave us maroon. We know that we are having the punishment of our own bad deeds, but we all are your kids please forgive us for what we did. Today we are scared to go out from our nest, we all are trapped in our own bad deed's net. Oh God! make the world free from corona soon. Please spare us and save our planet from this typhoon. Never thought that such a year will come. Children won't go to school, they will get education from home. Online study is making our children's health worst, Now we are eagerly waiting for twenty first. Oh God! Make the world free from corona soon. Freedom is Oxygen Freedom is essential. It's most important part of everyone's life. Freedom is not rocket science. For freedom, from Mahatma Gandhi to Mr. Advani all fought. Not only for themselves but for the country too. Not only for their own family but for the families of the nation too. Freedom is not easy, it's tough. It demands soul, heart and body. It demands compromise of mental peace and health. It's a about breathing free, walking free and breaking the ice of conventional wisdom. Freedom is expressing myself without the fear of judgement. Its all about expressing yourself carefree. About your instincts, your thoughts, your way of looking towards particular perspective. Once you lost freedom, you will never be able to gain freedom again. The joy of freedom is immeasurable. It's fruits are heavenly worth. But yes, Freedom is mostly taken for granted by many but now a days pandemic has reminded us about freedom in very harsh manner.

The global Coronavirus pandemic has had a life changing impact on people around the world. Since the virus was first discovered in December 2019, it has infected millions of people around the globe. "Freedom is really very personal thing.Yet this Pandemic has snatched away freedom severely." Aparna Vora

Peace

Peace is a time without any fight or wars. A war cannot achieve what peace can. It is the most essential thing for any countries or people to be happy an if there are there are worse and destructions everywhere people cannot be happy as they will keep losing their loved ones, peace will not harm anyone and with the help of peace we can do things which are not possible with the help of harmful methods like wars. Peace is very costly but worth, we can do many things with the help of peace also many misunderstandings and disputes between the country could be solved with the help of the peace. Wars just kills many of our soldiers to bring prosperity and growth in a society, the path that wiser people take is of peace and harmony. Without the peace in a nation, it is impossible to achieve political strength or cultural growth. Earlier people knew how-to live-in peace with nature and other animals, but with the realisation of power and greed, it was us who harmed their harmonised relation with environment. This changes in the way of living is not at all desirable because the effect of ruining the peace in the will have to be forced by us.

Hence, people must always realise that a little kindness can restore the sense of humanity in one and resolve all issues regarding peace in our life. The issue of wars and peace has always been a focal issue in all periods of history and at all levels relations among nations. There should be measures taken to maintain peace within the country. It is the responsibility of everyone to contribute to the peace all are seeking. First of all, there should be peace within the mind and heart of all individuals. Only when a person is at peace with himself or herself then he or she transmit that sense of Peace to other people. Henceforth we all should be calm to our self and take each and every decision with presence of mind. Also, we should have peace from the soul of our body because others behaviour could destroy others peace. So firstly, and lastly believe in your inner peace. Anushka Balasaheb Kolhe

Our life is really very different and made of craziness . The day we are born , we are surrounded by Numerous of rituals and care from our old ones . The dreams our old ones have for us , yeah firstly they find happiness in small things like when we grow our First teeth, when we finally learn how to walk, our first birthday , and do on . Then the life slowly starts changing an tasks come towards us as our responsibility . Our school days and friends full of madness. During this this days our attitude is made for making numerous of memorable memories and on the other hand getting tense Towards study pressure . Then we all start growing up and there 10th comes , where each and every child at the moment felt disturbed from inside for the marks . That scary heartbeats would be still inside our body lieing somewhere . Then we go to chose our stream and courier and working for happy life , butb on the other hand spme people like me live the lifed in their own way‌ a happy and freedomfull life , without taking any stress , taking a book and a pen and write whatever they want too . The very happy and meaningful life is finding happiness in each and....

every day rather finding a happy day . According to me we are not given a good or bad life , we are given a life and its totally up to us to make it good or bad life . By this I want to just make you teenagers know the true meaning of life , be what you are and do what you want to . We should just forget everything from past and live a better present . The up and downs in life comes in different ways but the person should be capable to handle everything to be a good person . I hope the one who is reading my essay would feel what the words of my essay speaks up # LIVE THE ADVENTURES PATH OF YOUR LIFE # BELIEVE IN YOURSELF Kanishka Garg

YOU

What was invisible to others Was visible to you. What others did not notice Was noticed by you. What no one cared to tell Was told by you. All the problems and worries of mind Were read by you. When everything seemed to lose faith Seeds of trust where planted by you. When eyes seemed to be in despair The hope was you.

When darkness seemed to swallow The light was you. When imaginations forgot to fly The wind beneath the wings were you. When soul started to squander The saviour was you. Why heart continued to beat The reason was you. When existence aspired to cease The cause to breathe was you. When death embraced, there was a part alive And that part was you. Real Freedom Everyone behind bars, but up a open sky, With their wings cut how can one fly? We want freedom of joy, We want freedom of happiness, We want freedom to speak, Years went, Decades went, Time went, But still we can't find our freedom, There is no real freedom, Girls trapped in house, Boys trapped in wrong addiction, Youth trapped in smart phone technology, Whereas elders trapped in superstitions, Need to get out of their trap, Need to enjoy the freedom, Need to get out of cage, Need to find freedom, After several years of independence, We still can't find our real freedom... A girl wants to meet her freedom that she barely knows, To the freedom who is having different values, To the freedom which is having different views. To the freedom that flies in her eyes, To the freedom who never tell are you girl or disguise. To the freedom which is given to the air we breathe, To the freedom who justify all the belief. To the freedom that a girl dies for, To the freedom that never lies for her. Darshini Oza

The ‘Freedom To’ Syndrome! Now, let’s be practical. If we follow the Western Culture with the wrong notion that we are being Modern, we’re just fooling ourselves and also disrespecting our rich heritage. Surprised? Well, don’t we all parrot this- “I’m above 18 and so, I have the Freedom To do this/that, don’t we? Or haven’t we heard this being said by people around us? Yes! But in the name of Freedom To, can we see the mess we have created? The society has become a Greed based rather than Need based. The problem can very well be witnessed right from the micro to the macro level. The filthy rich kids flout rules as per their whims and the common man suffers, the educated children don’t hesitate to leave their aged parents alone to win the cut throat competition, parents forget their duties towards their kids and spend more time in socialising rather than proper upbringing the futures of the nation. And the vicious effects of Freedom To mindset can well be seen even in the professional arena. To get any service on time, especially in the government sector, we know what it takes; it is not hidden to us how businesses unethically make profits; the teaching profession, too, has not been able to ignore the same! In short, the reality is right in front of us. We all know, but we ignore these as we take all these for granted!

But what has this Freedom To syndrome to do with disrespecting our culture- must be the question that’s hitting your mind right now, isn’t it? To explain the relation, let me put forward a term from Sanskrit-Svadhin. This word comes a bit close to the English word Freedom- but, it’s just that bit only! If we break the word Svadhin, it translates into ‘Sva’ and ‘Adhin’ which literally means ‘to be under one’s own control’. Can we imagine how relevant this concept is in this century? The moment we’re ‘Svadhin’, we become a ‘Need’ based society rather than ‘Greed’ based. It is this thought process, this mindset, that can break the mental shackles of the Freedom To syndrome. If we are really respectful to our rich culture and its wisdom, we will be receptive towards this Svadhin concept, else the shackles just can’t be get rid of. From this article, it shouldn’t be construed that, that every person or profession is being regarded as Greed based. But quite disappointingly, the Freedom To syndrome affected people have rapidly increased in this century. Such is the effect, that even though our Income may have increased, but so our miseries! At this juncture, it is the Bharatiya concept of Svadhin - which we may term as Freedom From- that can save us from the Freedom To syndrome onslaught. Debashish Chakraborty NOVEMBER 2020 - 026

Tomorrow A place or rather an assumed possibility where many unfulfilled dreams, wishes, hopes and many fears survive. None is sure whether he/she is going to experience or live the tomorrow. Then too we almost every single day, living in the present, plan, plot, think or assume about tomorrow. May be we are quite too sure about our destiny or are over confident about our survival. From the day we are born, we are conditioned to learn to plan for our next moment, next hour, next day and ultimately our whole life. For a being who has nothing in control, how is it sensible he/she believing that certain things will work as her their own will or wish??? Or he/she will see tomorrow??? The answer to it may be Faith/Belief in self or in some supreme power. But what may be the supreme power??? It’s subjective. In today’s times, God is the supreme of all but for atheists it is Money. The tool to manifest all our dreams, wishes, plans into reality.

But as far as it is concerned about thinking about tomorrow, none of these things affect - whether you are a believer or an atheist or rich or poor. It’s human nature to predict or think about tomorrow and plan for the same. They don’t know their next minute but yes, they believe that with the belief in God or with the power of money (if they are rich and has abundant wealth), or if they are poor, they can control tomorrow. But irony of life is those we all know these facts and we all know that no one knows what’s in it for us, then too we live for tomorrow to come and while doing that, we lose our present. Every tomorrow is a today. And in waiting for tomorrow, we lose our today. So, let’s start living today and enjoy our life to the fullest coz what we have is the very moment in which we are alive. No past, no future, only present. NOW!!! Ms. Maulie Abraham
