The Swakopmund community is still reeling after 46-year old Mr Gerson Kahorere shot and killed his 43-year old wife, subsequently turning the gun on himself, on Thursday night. The incident took place between 12:00 and 01:00, in the town’s Mondesa suburb, Tulinawa. According to a reliable source the husband first severely assaulted his wife, Mrs Issabella Tjizu Ka-
horere and also stabbed her with a sharp object. The source further revealed that he then cut open her genitals, before shooting her in the head. It is also alleged that the victim had another gunshot
wound in her leg. The man then turned the gun on himself in a suicide attempt and shot himself once in the head. After arriving on the crime scene, the Eagle Christian Ambulance Service personnel
tried to stabilise the man and rushed him to hospital. He did not recover and died in hospital at around 03:00, Friday morning. According to close family friends, the husband arrived home from his farm

The Fire Brigade arrived just in time to contain the fire, before it could spread and cause even
more damage and sorrow. Nine shacks were destroyed by the fire and
the cause of the fire remains unknown. Nobody was injured. When the namib times
called the assistance centre the personnel said they were on their way to assess the situation on
the ground and see what they could do to help the victims. Usually victims find
