*To be eligible for a NRC family or senior couple membership the primary member and spouse must be legally married as recognized by the State of Idaho. In addition, only children considered legal dependents ages 18 and under may be included on a family membership. Provisions may be made to place dependent children ages 19 through 21 on a family membership. See the NRC Membership Eligibility policy for details. The NRC may ask for proof of legal dependency or a marriage certificate from anyone registering for a family or senior couple membership.

nampa rec center The Nampa Recreation Center is a 140,000 square foot indoor facility offering many recreation amenities to the public. Our mission is to provide quality programs and services, be responsive to the citizens, and play an active role in making Nampa a healthy community. To ensure the safety of our members and visitors, the Nampa Recreation Center will enforce all policies and procedures. Register for Recreation Programs

Register for Nampa Parks and Recreation Department programs, classes, and sports leagues online at nampaparksandrecreation.org or in person at the Nampa Rec Center, MondayFriday between 8am- 7pm. Nampa Parks & Recreation is continuing procedures that have been put in place to help keep our patrons, participants, members and staff safe. We have implemented guidelines and protocols to help our patrons and members acknowledge physical distancing and still utilize the facility for health and wellness. Thank you for your understanding and compliance as we work hard to keep you safe. Please help us out by making sure to clean the equipment you use both before and after use.

COVID-19 Health and Safety Recommendations We are all in this together! Here are some reminders:

If you are not feeling well, stay home. Your workout, game or class can wait until you are feeling better. Acknowledge physical distancing. While participating in activities at our facilities or in our programs, please maintain 6 feet between you and others. Practice good hand washing/ sanitizing. As you begin and end an activity please wash/sanitize your hands. If you are sharing equipment, proper hand sanitizing should be done prior to and after equipment use. Cough/Sneeze into your elbow. Don’t touch your face. Between the times you are washing or sanitizing your hands, keep from touching your face. Face Coverings are recommended and allowed. The spread of COVID-19 is affecting us all. As we do our part to contribute to the health & wellness in our community, Nampa Parks & Recreation wants to continue to provide safe activities and programs to help keep you and your family active. Body Composition

Determine the amount of fat and muscle that makes up your weight using a 3-site caliper test or bioelectrical impedance test. Member Free, Non-Member $8

Metabolic Testing

Learn how many calories your body burns in a day to establish a calorie budget, decrease the frequencies of plateaus, and improve your overall fitness with our highly accurate MedGemtm (an indirect calorimeter that measures VO2 and determines Resting Metabolic Rate). No exercise, food or beverages (water ok) or certain nutritional supplements 4-8 hours and no nicotine 1 hour prior to assessment. Questions or to schedule an appointment, contact a trainer. Nutrition Counseling (45 minutes)

Meet with a Registered Dietitian for personalized nutrition recommendations which could include specific dietary changes, an eating plan that outlines portion sizes, appropriate meal composition and timing, food suggestions, food record keeping and meal planning. Counseling is offered once a month with a variety of dates and times available. Register at the program desk. Balance & Fall Prevention Class

This class will help increase mobility and independence by improving lower body strength, endurance, flexibility and bone mass, which can help reduce the risk of falling. fitness Weight Room Age Policy

The weight room is reserved for individuals 15 years and older. Youth 13 and 14 years old may obtain weight room privileges by completing the NRC’s Youth Strength Training Course. The NRC offers the ZONE for 10-14 years olds and functional training under certain parameters for those as young as 6 years old. Each youth participant must complete an orientation with a trainer and sign a “Youth Training Pledge and Consent” form along with their parent before engaging in training.

Youth Strength Training Course

By successfully completing this 4-day course, youth ages 13 and 14 years will be granted use of the weight room including the free weights (some restrictions apply). This educational course will focus on safe, productive training and practical experience. Participants are required to attend the entire class and pass both a written and practical exam. Classes are ongoing and require pre-registration at the Program Desk. Member $16, Non-Member $55

youth programs Learning Hub

The Nampa Rec Center Learning Hub is a great way to keep your kids safe and on task when school is remote. Learning Hub is a supervised, safe environment for kindergarten through fifth graders to stay engaged with their virtual learning assigned by their school. Children must provide their own devices, our staff will facilitate their online meetings, projects, and homework throughout the day. Snacks are provided for program participants. Parents must provide their children with a lunch and personal water bottle. Kindergarten-5th Grade Monday-Friday 8:30am-2:30pm Nampa Rec Center Member $10, Non-Member $12

Kids in Action Day Camp-(KIA)

The Nampa Rec Center, Kids in Action day camp program is a great way to keep your kids active when school is out. Kids in Action gets your kids moving in a supervised, safe environment. Kindergarten through fifth graders stay actively engaged before and after school, or full day care is available according to the Nampa schools’ schedule, please see Day Camp calendar. Transportation is included to and from any Nampa public school with additional 50¢ charge. No commitment, you only pay for the days your child attends and credits are issued when your plans change, if you call by 12:30pm. American Red Cross Babysitter Training

In this one-day class learn information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children in the absence of parents and guardians. Course includes handbook, Emergency Reference Guide and CD with fun activities and support resources. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Red Cross Babysitter Training Certification card. Please bring a sack lunch. youth sports WINGS Gymnastics

Gymnastics is a great physical foundation for kids of all ages that helps develop strength, coordination, physical fitness and self-esteem. It will help prepare children for participation in all kinds of sports. Our instructors will help guide children in a positive atmosphere that helps develop their skills and self- confidence. Each class is designed to teach progressions safely and allows the child to move at their own pace. For a current class schedule or to register, visit the Rec Center website or stop by the Program Desk. A $10 additional fee will be charged for students who register on or after the 1st of the month. Monthly tuition is due by the 20th of the prior month to guarantee a place in the following month’s class. New student tuition will be prorated. Instructors cannot accept payment. This class teaches self confidence, builds self-esteem and improves balance, while establishing discipline and courtesy towards others. Participants will learn age appropriate self-defense and weapons training. These classes are non-violent; sparring is optional. Students should wear loose fitting clothing, such as sweat pants and a t-shirt. No jewelry or watches during class. A mouth guard and a groin protector cup (males) are recommended. Swim Idaho! Is a way for lap swimmers to chart their progress, set goals and conquer those goals. Swimming bench marks are: 102 miles the distance of the Boise River, 425 miles the distance of the Salmon River, 779 miles the distance of the length and width of Idaho and finally 1,076 the distance of the mighty Snake River. T-shirts are awarded at each Idaho Bench Mark. Ask a lifeguard how to start tracking your laps!

Homeschool Swimming

The Nampa Recreation Center is proud to offer a fun and energetic homeschool swimming P.E. program. Children of all swimming abilities will be able to participate in activities with other children of similar skills and ages in the swimming pool. On the first day children will be split up based swimming ability and age. During the two hour period each level group will receive a 30 minute group lesson from one of our nationally certified instructors, the rest is open recreational swimming time for the kids to interact, have fun and be active! Cost includes drop in recreation swimming during the 2 hour class period for children who are registered. This American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course demonstrates how to teach Red Cross swimming lessons and set up lesson plans. If you have a desire to become a swimming instructor then this is the perfect class for you. Course prerequisites are 25 yards in the following 6 strokes: front crawl, backcrawl, breaststroke, butterfly, sidestroke, and elementary backstroke. Nampa Recreation Department is offering an Adult Basketball League beginning January 4. Each team will play eight games followed by a double elimination tournament. All games will consist of two 20- minute halves. Non-competitive leagues will play on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday evenings. Competitive leagues will play Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday evenings. Teams may be moved divisions after they have played four games. Game times will be 7pm, 8pm or 9pm. League play will begin the week of January 4th, 2021. Balance & Fall Prevention Class

Indoor Pickleball Lessons

Pickleball is a combination of badminton, tennis and ping pong. It is played on a badminton size court using a wiffle ball and composite paddle. Nampa Senior Center Out of an abundance of caution to protect our senior population, the City of Nampa, with approval from the Nampa Council on Aging, has canceled on site meal service, senior classes, programs and events held at the Nampa Senior Center. Lunches are being offered curbside. At this time the Nampa Senior Center is offering Meals-togo through a curbside service. Join us for a beautiful fall field trip to the Snake River Canyon in Twin Falls for ziplining with AWOL Adventure Sports. You will hike approximately ¼ mile total and climb mild grades between four zip lines. (Maximum weight 260 lbs, minimum 50 lbs). Bring a lunch and sense of adventure. Come out to Ridgecrest Golf Club to experience the new hybrid of golf and soccer-Foot Golf. The game is played with a soccer ball on the golf course and the goal is to kick it down the course in as few kicks as possible.
