Hello friends! Fall is officially knocking on our door, but we’re not quite ready to answer just yet! With plenty of time for fun in the sun, park play dates and last minute trips come Labor Day Weekend, many of us are extending the summer solstice until the first leaf falls. It’s a good thing, too: the July International Image Competition has ended, and it may take judges that long to decide a winner! We received so many beautiful, striking images - giving our team some tough decisions to make. For those who participated in the Image Competition, we thank you for sharing your talent with us. Winners and results will be announced in October – so stay tuned and good luck! Also arriving with fall is registration for our 2015 NAPCP Retreat. This January, prepare to parka with us, as we get comfy and cozy in Whistler, British Columbia! Registration is now open – so please remember to enroll before September 30 to secure your spot and take advantage of a convenient payment plan. Tell us your story. How you started and how your photography, brand, and business transformed over the last few years? It all began with my canon rebel film camera and a mission trip to India in 2003. Not only did the culture impact me, and they're way of living, but when I got back and developed my images, the filthy, poor, beautiful children that stared back at me on those prints sparked something deep down into my soul. Moments like those impacted my heart and I now can look at those hungry eyes through a still image. I never saw myself as a children's photographer, but more so the girl always with the camera capturing life, laughter, and real life dorm life in college. It quickly became real when one of my roommates got engaged our senior year and asked me to shoot her engagement pictures. It trickled slowly, but never pursued it as a business until 2009, and I began venturing

into where my heart strings were pulled to capture and stand still for others in their home. I was always pulled toward teen girls, and really it was not until this year my business came to be more than a job, it became a ministry. As I began seeing the importance of reminding girls truths from scripture, and my go to verse that I share is 1 Peter 3:4..�but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.� What is your favorite subject to photograph and why? I kinda answered that in the last question, but to add to it I absolutely love having the opportunity to invest in girls lives. I pray that I am given the chance to develop a relationship with whomever needs a mentor in their life.

These girls bring life and joy into my soul, as I see the world right before them— ready to take on the world. It reminds me to keep on dreaming as well. What is the most valuable business lesson you've learned so far? God first, family second, then work. Balance balance balance. Making a to do list each day so you know what has to get done that day and you do not add anything on top or cut yourself short. We love how open and honest you are on your blog. How do you feel this affects your life professionally? I guess I have never thought of it affecting my life professionally. I take my business as a calling and ministry to invest into others. I usually connect with people right away as they feel they already know me, as I am vulnerable and raw with who I am and where I stand. I never want to come off as a person that takes beautiful pictures and lives this picture perfect life. That is the least thing I want to portray for my life.

Tell us about your typical work day and work week. From sunrise to sunset... To be quite honest I am the last person to ask on how to live a planned out work day as the first thing I do in the morning is serve my children breakfast, and then they know that is my time with Jesus. I can not work without coming to the Lords feet first. I typically work a lot in the evenings when my kids go to bed. I use to kill myself by staying up till midnight but learned that is not worth being grumpy and on edge the next day. I work until I feel Ive accomplished enough, but I listen to what my body is telling me and will go to bed if I am too tired to edit. I want to give my best at all times, and even though I am behind a computer I still want to represent at 100%. You mentioned you would like to live on an island one day, any special reason why? I would move to an island tomorrow if that were an option. I love the slower pace of life, while I am 100% a city a girl, being on Island time far away from everything is so much more relaxing. That and to be honest, I have this crazy idea that I would love to have a private beach and I can see all my littles running around and growing up on the water - very Swiss Family Robinson. It's just so peaceful and happy. I have always been drawn to the ocean and life that it contains, so waking up with a view of the sea would be so refreshing and would just make my should happy. What are you most grateful for? I am SO grateful the Lord has blessed me with a business to be home with my kids. It really doesn't get any better than making my own hours and home investing into my children. Where do you see your life 5 years from now? Secretly I hope I am a published author by then, as I am working on my first book. ;) I still see myself pursuing my business and hope to be THE senior photographer in my area.
