Over the coming days and weeks, the City will continue to assess the situation and will update residents regularly about future closures and impacts to the community through the City’s website and social media pages. Please visit our website at www.nassaubay.com/COVID19 for trusted information about the Coronavirus and the City of Nassau Bay. The City is directing City employees to cancel and/or reschedule all non-essential training/travel for the month of April. City Manager Jason Reynolds will continue to evaluate and, if necessary, modify department activity. The City’s Human Resources Department has been emphasizing good hygiene practices throughout all City facilities and stressing the importance of employees staying home when sick. The City is also currently requiring departments to evaluate all aspects of City operations to ensure the continuity of essential City services. This includes identification of critical staff members required to maintain adequate service. Police, Fire, EMS, and Water / Wastewater departments will remain operational. For our residents, if you do feel sick and believe you may have been exposed to COVID-19, please contact your healthcare provider or a hospital immediately. Describe your symptoms and travel history. If they recommend testing, go as soon as possible. Our community has time and again weathered difficult situations and pulled together to help our neighbors and our City. All of these actions are temporary in nature and we are looking forward to returning to normal programming and activities when appropriate.
NASSAU BAY GARDEN CLUB
Fashion to a Tea: The Nassau Bay Garden Club is sad to announce that its biennial Fundraiser “Fashions to a Tea,” originally scheduled for Friday, April 17th at Lakewood Yacht Club, has been postponed. The Club hopes to reschedule the date at a later time. Beautification Day: March was a busy month for the Garden Club. Mayor Mark Denman presented a Proclamation at the March 9th City Council meeting to proclaim Saturday, March 28th, 2020 as “Beautification Day’ in Nassau Bay. Unfortunately, this event was cancelled. The Club hopes for good weather this entire year to help us ‘enhance the aesthetics of our City and to contribute to the quality of life enjoyed by the residents of Nassau Bay.’ April Garden Club Meeting: The Garden Club's next regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, April 14th at 9:30am will also most likely be cancelled. Please visit the Club's website at www.nassaubaygc.org or find the Nassau Bay Garden Club on Facebook or Instagram for updates through May. Dues for next year are $35. The May meeting will be the installation of new officers for the 2020-2021 year. Newly elected officers are Joyce Mayor [President], Christina Jordan [1st V.P. Membership], Angela Braun [2nd V.P. Programs], Ann Davidson [3rd V.P. Finance], Deborah Landmann [Secretary], Royce Walker [Treasurer], Rhonda Davis and Valerie Moses [Historians]. The Garden Club wishes you good health and happy gardening during these stressful few weeks. Have a great summer!
YOUR INPUT MATTERS: FIXING OUR INFRASTRUCTURE
The City of Nassau Bay respectfully requests your input on storm water and sanitary sewer issues you have experienced since Hurricane Harvey in 2017. As we move into the FY2021 budget planning cycle, we would like know your experiences with street flooding and sanitary sewer backups in your home. This information will assist us in identifying areas unknown to staff and will be used to develop an action plan. The survey is less than 10 questions and should only take a few minutes. Please visit our website at www.nassaubay.com/sewersurvey and make a difference.
