HONORING DON & BETTE JOHNSON

At the October 8th City Council Meeting, Mayor Mark Denman proclaimed the day as "Don & Bette Johnson Day" in the City of Nassau Bay, honoring Don and Bette Johnson for their tireless public service over the years. Don and Bette have lived in Nassau Bay for over 40 years, and will be moving to College Station, Texas to be closer to family. Don served as Mayor from 1994-1996 and Bette served as Councilmember and Mayor Pro Tem from 2002-2010. Additionally, Don served with the Nassau Bay Volunteer Fire Department as Fire Chief for many years, and later greatly contributed to the Nassau Bay Infrastructure Committee. Bette also contributed to Nassau Bay's public safety, previously serving in a leadership role with the Nassau Bay EMS Department. The City of Nassau Bay is so grateful for Don and Bette, exemplary citizens who have given so freely of their valuable time, energy and abilities. Their great impact on the City cannot be measured – both will be surely missed as they embark on their new journey in College Station!
