CITY NEWS REMEMBERING DAVID BRAUN
David Braun, Nassau Bay's Mayor Pro Tem and a longtime advocate for manned space flight and a force behind the region’s advocacy for the space program passed away Saturday, February 21, 2015, after a three-year battle with liver cancer. A resident of Nassau Bay since 1986, David served as a Nassau Bay City Councilmember from 2002 through 2010. He left office because of term limits, but was reelected in 2011 and was named Mayor Pro Tem. David served as the Aerospace Marketing Manager for the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership. He was very active in the community, volunteering with the Nauticat Swim Team and St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. He volunteered much of his time with various city and school district committees. Clear Creek Education Foundation named him the 2013 Citizen of the Year.
SPRING FORWARD The Nassau Bay Fire Marshal's Office and the Nassau Bay Volunteer Fire Department want to remind you to check and change the batteries in your smoke detector and carbon monoxide alarms when you reset your clocks on Sunday, March 8th. A working alarm could give you and your family those few extra seconds to get out of your house in case of a fire.
Even before he joined City Council, David had been involved in the city. He was instrumental in raising the funds and helping build the playground at Lake Nassau Park among his many other accomplishments.
The City of Nassau Bay has been named one of Houston’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For®. This is the fourth year for the City of Nassau Bay to be selected as one of the winners.
He will be greatly missed by our entire community.
