NBHA BOARD ELECTION

CHORAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church invites high school singers to audition for its Choral Scholar program. Choral Scholars rehearse and sing with the parish choir on Sundays during the school year, with a couple of additional weekday duties during the year. Singers receive a monthly stipend, and valuable musical experience equipping them for future similar positions at the college and professional levels. Membership of St. Thomas is not required. COMMUNITY BOOK CLUB

Coming this fall: A community bookclub in Nassau Bay. Hooked on Books is for elementary aged kids. The meetings will be held once a month at City Hall. The first meeting will be on Sunday, October 13th from 2:00pm to 3:30pm. The book being discussed will be Frindle, by Andrew Clement. At the meeting, there will be an activity, book discussion, and time for the kids to get to know one another. GLORIA DEI CHURCH IMPACT WEEK Students from Gloria Dei Lutheran Church joined the Nassau Bay Police Department for a full day of volunteering – these students volunteered as part of Gloria Dei's Impact Week 2019. Through the day, these students spent hours washing the Police Department police units. They also assisted the Department by stuffing the goodie bags for this year's National Night Out event. A huge THANK YOU to these volunteers for all their help and hard work!

COUNCIL- MEETING RECAP

AUGUST 12, 2019 REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING Held a Public Hearing on the City Manager’s Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2020. Approved first of two readings of an ordinance amending City of Nassau Bay Ordinance No. O2013-712 by revising Appendix A – Zoning, Article 15. – Zoning Districts for Commercial (C), Mixed Use (U) and Public (PO- Presented a Proclamation to Nikolas 1), 15-200. – Urban District, (A). Risoldi in recognition of earning the presitigous rank of Eagle Scout. Uses, No. (9). Approved a resolution reappointing Jim Edwards, Jerry Newberry, R.H. Dietz (regular members) and Kyle Rone (alternate member) to the Board of Adjustment. Approved a resolution authorizing the City Manager to sign a First Amendment to Communication Site Lease Agreement with Clear Wireless LLC. Approved action to create a Task Force (consisting of Mayor Denman, Councilmember Ashley Graves, and Councilmember Matt Prior) to bring recommendations to Council regarding the operation and use of short-term rentals in the City of Nassau Bay. Approved action to name the City of Nassau Bay Dog Park the "Chris Reed Dog Park" in honor of the late Chris Reed.
