Four letters which become inseparable and three elements : Ultra, Trail-running and Mont-Blanc, which are assembled to make just one. Returning to these three elements explains who we are and where we want to go.
Ultra.
Trail.
From the start, they were few in number who practiced this open country race. One still has memories of the some 700 runners who took the start RI WKH ÂżUVW 870%ÂŽ, a race which from its creation symbolized a new way of life structured around strong values: the respect of the environment and people, the closeness to the nature, solidarity. At the UTMBÂŽ, these values are dear to us and we are careful to put them in to practice through the use of concrete and positive measures. Solidarity, which we have championed since 2006 with the association Courir pour toi. Since, we have created solidarity race-bibs which allow runners to participate in the UTMB ÂŽ by directly supporting a charity. Trail-running, both a sporting discipline and socially responsible. Since the creation of the UTMB ÂŽ we have been concerned for the environment, and it is for this reason that, in January, we signed 15 eco-responsible commitments ZLWK WKH PLQLVWU\ RI VSRUW DQG ::) )UDQFH
Mont-Blanc. The tour of Mont-Blanc,
It is not a practice specific to trailrunning, it exists in other sports. Ultra is knowing what we can realise both physically and mentally. Ultra is a competition with oneself. For the UTMB ÂŽ, very few runners come to win. They run against their own limits. To make the choice of the extreme is DJUHHLQJ WR FRQIURQW WKH XQNQRZQ GRXEW DQG GLႈFXOW\ EXW DOVR WKH MR\ RI ÂżQLVKLQJ :H ZRXOG OLNH WR VKDUH these emotions with people as many as possible. The UTMBÂŽ is a big outdoor event in which everybody can participate: runners, volunteers, service providers, partners, locals, spectators and accompanying persons. Each person places their passion at the service of the event. It is this interaction and diversity of players which makes the event.
is where the idea of the UTMB Ž comes from. The original idea was to make the complete tour of the highest summit in Europe along paths, in one stage DQG LQGLYLGXDOO\ :KDW LQWHUHVWHG XV DQG FRQWLQXHV WR VWHHU XV WRGD\ LV WR RႇHU WKH PRVW EHDXWLIXO URXWH WKDW ZKLFK RႇHUV WKH PRVW EHDXWLIXO H[SHULHQFH DQG WKH PRVW EHDXWLIXO MRXUQH\ IRU WKH UXQQHUV :KDW continues to motivate us each year is also a cordial and authentic UTMBŽ, which is truly sincere because it is anchored in its territory, that of the Mont-Blanc country. This is made possible by the involvement of the 18 partner communes and their inhabitants; we would like to express our gratitude to them.
