World Heritage 2012 Project description


World Heritage in Youth Hands – national Ukrainian IC GCDP project, which AIESEC organize together with Charitable Foundation “Talented Children are Future of Ukraine” based on UNESCO initiative, aimed to inform young people about the unique value of cultural monuments and nature; and to encourage future leaders to participate actively in the protection, preservation and promotion of World Heritage. Cities, where the project will take part: 10 cities all around Ukraine – Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Odesa, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zaporizhzhya, Chernivtsi, Ternopil. Participants: students (17-23 years) with backgrounds of culture, history related subjects, who are interested in the topics of protection and preservation of world heritage. We expect to have 30-80 participants in each city. Time or realization: October-November 2012 Project goals: - Increasing the level of knowledge of Ukrainian students about cultural and natural heritage of Ukraine and countries of the world and conservation and protection of World Heritage; - Formation of the young generation which is interested in studying the history of world heritage, have the desire to know and appreciate it as well as to intensify efforts to save it; - Increasing respect and tolerance to the language, culture and specific traditions of the peoples of the world, a sense of shared responsibility for World Heritage sites. - Attracting public attention and public authorities to the problems of protection and preservation of cultural and natural heritage; - Creation of the arena for international cooperation and providing young people of different countries new opportunities for joint participation in major events and activities. The main task for interns is to organize research and to study World Heritage in the city they will have internship, to present results of research at the national 2days science forum in Kyiv and to take part in the festival of cultures in Kyiv. Dates of the science forum: 15th-16th of November 2012 Dates of the festival of cultures: 17th of November 2012 During the work in the city interns need to: - Present to the children and students world heritage of their own countries;


- Working in the groups (1-2 interns + 5-6 children/students) deeply to study some element of world heritage in the city of internship (history of the city, monuments, buildings, nature) and the ways of preservation of world heritage; - Organize research among Ukrainian students to evaluate their knowledge and interest in the topic of World Heritage; - Evaluate results of research, create report; - Together with Ukrainian students visit museums, libraries, historical places in the city and around it; - Each group need to create report about their work with pictures and information (in a form of booklet, magazine and ppt) to present it at the forum. At the national forum: - Interns need to present world heritage of their own countries/cities; - Each working group should present report of their science research in the city of internship; - Take active part in the round tables and discussions; - Interns can present sum up of similarities and differences in the world heritage of their country and Ukraine and work for preservation of world heritage. At the festival of cultures interns need to: - Have their national closes, food and the flag of the country 2*1 meter; - Present their country at the scene by dancing/singing national dace/song or doing other national performance; - Communicate with the visitors of the festival showing own country and culture in the best way.
