Have an early lunch on board our boat before returning to Hanoi to catch a short flight to magnificent Hue. Explore this former imperial capital on a visit to the imposing citadel, wandering its lavish palaces and elegant gardens, and venture into the surrounding countryside to see the impressive tombs of Vietnam’s emperors.
DAY 1 I HANOI, VIETNAM Arrive at any time. Arrival transfer is included. DAYS 2–3 I MAI CHÂU Travel to the lush Mai Châu valley and enjoy a countryside walk through rice paddies and picturesque villages. Opt to explore the area by bike, go on a kayaking excursion, or take a cooking class. DAYS 4–5 I HANOI/HA LONG BAY Return to Hanoi to explore Hoa Lo prison, known by American POWs as the Hanoi Hilton. Visit Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum, and take a cyclo tour of the bustling old quarter. The next day, enjoy breakfast at Hoa Sua, a nonprofit training restaurant for underprivileged Hanoi youth.
