FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Welcome to Winter Party Festival in Miami, an event that combines community, celebration and a great cause! We are deeply honored to have you join us for our 27th year of this incredible event. The Festival has touched countless lives and made a huge difference for the South Florida community and across the nation. Thank you for being here! Winter Party Festival, produced by the National LGBTQ Task Force, is a radically welcoming space for the LGBTQ+ community. For many, it’s an annual homecoming, and we are thrilled to welcome you back year after year. Our organization, the National LGBTQ Task Force, strives to create a space where you can #BeYou in your full self while you enjoy the festival. It’s our fourth year with the tagline: Live Free. Play Hard. Give Back. This year, the Task Force and the greater LGBTQ community worked hard to ensure we can all LIVE FREE, from the continued fight for voting rights here in Florida to pushing back against the anti-LGBTQ administration. This year, we are in the middle of running a national campaign to “Queer the Census” to make sure every one of us gets counted, becuase the Census data informs how communities receive federal financial support. See: http://queerthecensus.org/ Please take the pledge to #BeCounted. Funds raised at the Winter Party Festival and its sister event, the National LGBTQ Task Force Gala, support this great work, and we also GIVE BACK to LGBTQ organizations serving the South Florida community. Since 2005, the Task Force has given over $3.1 million back to the South Florida community. Your support of Winter Party has helped to fund more than 80 organizations doing work in LGBTQ advocacy, youth services, homeless initiatives, the arts and much, much more. And, of course, I hope you can enjoy your time together and PLAY HARD. Celebration creates resiliency. This year, I am proud to honor Jim Tyrrell and Roger Thomson for their contributions to the National LGBTQ Task Force over many years. Roger’s many gifts to our Board have made the organization smarter and more sustainable. Together, Roger and Jim are Winter Party Festival supporters without whom the Festival could not be what it is today. I can’t wait to celebrate them at our VIP Cocktail Reception on Friday, March 6! Our fabulous Festival Chairs Rene Wolfensberger and Sergio Orlando exemplify the Winter Party Festival mission. They are giving back so that many of us can have the time of our lives, all in service to the greater LGBTQ community. Thank you, Rene and Sergio! I also give thanks to all the generous individuals and companies who have made financial and in-kind contributions to this spectacular event and to all the committee members and volunteers who help us create magic. We are only able to do our work due to your incredible support. I’d love to know more about what Winter Party Festival and the National LGBTQ Task Force mean to you. Please jump on social media with #ThisisWinterParty and share your photos and stories. See you on the dance floor!

Rea Carey Executive Director National LGBTQ Task Force

It's on us to be counted. Being counted means being heard - it means having our needs met. Every 10 years, the federal government attempts to count every person living in the country for the U.S. Census. However, certain populations are inevitably undercounted, meaning less people fill out the Census than there actually are in a community. Transgender and queer people, LGB people, people of color, immigrants, people who are experiencing homelessness, people with low incomes, single-parent households, and young children are overwhelmingly undercounted in the Census.

Say "I do" be you. again.

be counted.

Check the new "same-sex" response.

LETTER FROM OUR FESTIVAL CHAIRS Welcome to Winter Party Festival 2020! Like a beautiful butterfly, spread your wings and get ready to embrace an evolution! Reunite with old friends and meet new ones that will last a lifetime at Winter Party Festival as we bring the world together to create change while we celebrate YOU. Winter Party Festival is all about having fun and creating unforgettable experiences for you, our guest, but it’s also a party with a purpose. Winter Party began in 1994 when four community activists decided to throw a one-day beach party for South Floridians to raise money to fight a statewide anti-LGBTQ initiative. Thanks to you and thousands of people like you, it has evolved into a world-class, week-long fundraiser attended by guests from around the globe. Under the stewardship of the National LGBTQ Task Force, Winter Party Festival has been transformed into one of the world’s largest nonprofit festivals. Proceeds from the Festival and its sister event, the Task Force Gala – Miami, have allowed the Task Force to donate almost $3.1 million dollars to South Florida LGBTQ non-profit organizations. One of the things we are most looking forward to this year is celebrating Jim Tyrrell and Roger Thomson at the VIP Cocktail Reception on Friday, March 6. Jim and Roger have been instrumental parts of supporting the National LGBTQ Task Force and Winter Party Festival for many years now and we are so proud to honor their incredible contributions! René’s journey with Winter Party started in 2000 when he first attended as a guest; one year later, he had his first volunteer experience and has continued to support the Festival for many years. Sergio first volunteered in 2017, became the Director of Committee Engagement dedicated to build a program to support the volunteer

RENÉ A. WOLFENSBERGER Senior Winter Party Festival Chair 2020

leaders of the Festival, and has been volunteering with the Festival ever since. We are so humbled and privileged to be working alongside such amazing people that give so much to make Winter Party Festival unforgettable. About 100 talented committee members produce an event that attracts over 10,000 guests and raises over $1.5 million each year. We would like to thank Mayor Dan Gelber, the City of Miami Beach, all City Commissioners, and staff members that go to great lengths to support Winter Party Festival. We also want to thank our amazing sponsors for their support and ask you to please support them. Additionally, we would like to thank our volunteer Festival Committee members, our volunteer Executive Committee members, our Festival week volunteers and the Task Force staff for devoting endless hours and energy to make Winter Party Festival amazing. We are so excited to announce we are bringing to our guests an “evolution” by: • Reviving a signature crowd-favorite venue by revamping the nightclub formerly known as Mansion for our Saturday and Sunday events • Introducing brand new venues, such as the ultra-sleek and modern Wynwood Factory and a brand new host hotel, the Royal Palm South Beach • Debuting new rising DJ’s from around the world like Brazil’s DJ Allan Natal and Colombia’s Jerac, while bringing back favorites like Joe Pacheco and Nina Flowers • Returning our signature event, Under One Sun - Evolution, to a guest favorite at Nikki Beach Club, Miami Beach’s best outdoors oceanfront club Thank you for supporting Winter Party Festival and welcome to Miami Beach!

VIP COCKTAIL RECEPTION HONOREES JIM TYRRELL & ROGER THOMSON We are thrilled to honor Jim Tyrrell and Roger Thomson at this year’s Winter Party Festival VIP Cocktail Reception. Jim and Roger have long been leaders in the fight for progressive human rights and equality and have been two of the most committed supporters of the Task Force for over a decade. Roger served on the Task Force Board of Directors from 2010-2019, including a stint as Treasurer and Co-Chair. Jim and Roger have become fairy godparents for our Winter Party team. More than 500 volunteers come together to make the Festival run for six days, and those folks get hungry. For the past several years Jim and Roger have generously underwritten the cost of our volunteer meals, feeding them with delicious food from Chili’s Grill & Bar. (Roger was with Brinker International, owner of Chili’s, for 30 years.) They also purchase our ultimate VIP experience each year – a cabana at the Beach Party! Roger has been quoted as saying “Critical battles are taking place to secure freedom and fairness for LGBT people. It is both exciting and a privilege to be part of this effort through the work of the Task Force. We know the power of the individual, and of working together, to create change. We can all make a difference.” In addition to the Task Force and Winter Party, Jim and Roger are committed advocates of many charitable organizations that support the LGBTQ

community. They are involved in nonprofit organizations focusing on health and homelessness of LGBTQ youth, advocacy for LGBTQ seniors, and philanthropy throughout Southern Florida. Aqua Foundation, Pridelines, SAVE, Equality Florida, Pride and SAGE are among the many organizations that have benefited from Jim and Roger’s generosity. Roger served on the Board of the City of Miami Beach LGBTQ Advisory Committee on The Miami Foundation’s LGBTQ Community Fund, which dispenses grants to local LGBTQ non-profit organizations. Jim and Roger live in Miami Beach with their cat.

WINTER PARTY CARES

HEALTH & WELLNESS AT WINTER PARTY FESTIVAL Winter Party Festival is the most fun, sexy and friendly LGBTQ event in the world. In addition to coming together as a community for a celebration, we raise critical funds to continue the fight for full freedom, justice and equity for all. As producers of a world-renowned LGBTQ event, the National LGBTQ Task Force recognizes that we have a responsibility to help our community stay safe and healthy—not just at Winter Party Festival, but in all aspects of life. This year, we’re fortunate to be partnering with a number of health, education, social service and harm-reduction organizations dedicated to the well-being of our community. They are listed at the bottom of the opposite page. We ask you to heed to these important health and safety tips. If you’re sexually active, protect yourself and your partner(s): Complementary condoms, provided by Florida Health, and personal lube packets, sponsored by WET, will be distributed in your gift bags, at the Welcome Center, and throughout the Festival at various events. Educate yourself about Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs): While the advent of PrEP has significantly cut the rates of new HIV infection in communities where PrEP is widely used, it has also led to

an increase in unprotected sex. PrEP can prevent the spread of HIV, but it does not protect against other Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI’s), such as syphilis, gonorrhea and hepatitis A, B and C, which are on the rise, and some of which are becoming increasingly resistant to antibiotic treatment. Please be safe, be aware and talk about risks with your sexual partners. Condoms will help reduce your risks. Know your status: Get tested! Rapid HIV testing only takes a few minutes. Winter Party will provide complimentary HIV testing at several locations throughout the Festival, provided by AIDS United and Impulse Group. Join our mailing list for more details on test sites, dates and times, or ask at the Welcome Center. Don’t miss LOCALIZE: Thursday, March 5 from 7-10pm at Hotel Gaythering. Representatives from Prevention 305 and Avita Pharmacy will be on-site to answer questions about Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and the role it can play in reducing the risk of contracting HIV. Know your limits: If you drink alcohol, do so in moderation. On hot, sunny days, don’t forget to alternate alcohol with water or soft drinks. If you consume drugs, know what you’re taking. Winter Party Festival organizers do not endorse or condone the use of any illegal drugs, but we also know

that we cannot control what people do in private. Thanks to information provided by DanceSafe and Impulse Group, you can learn about the effects and unique risks associated with various drugs, as well as cautions about drug interactions. Be aware that not all drugs are created equal; some carry much greater risks than others. Crystal meth is one of the most physically addictive and destructive drugs ever known. If you use meth, or are thinking about trying it, we urge you to study the information provided by our partner, the Meth Project (www. methproject.org). Limit sun exposure: It might sound cliché, but don’t forget to pack your sunscreen, lip balm, hats and sunglasses. The Miami

sun can be scorching! Wear sunscreen and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Look out for each other: If your friend appears to be excessively buzzed, don’t leave them alone. We have medical staff on call at every event. If you feel sick, dizzy, faint, or otherwise need help, or if you see someone who does, look for a staff member or volunteer, who will find an appropriate professional to assist you. The doctors, paramedics and our medical services partners are here to help. We love you—and we want you to stay happy and healthy! WINTER PARTY FESTIVAL TEAM
