FITNESS FITNESS PACKAGES
Arlington Parks & Recreation offers a variety of monthly membership packages that allow residents and visitors to enjoy programs and amenities at all recreation, athletics and senior centers across The American Dream City. These tiered membership packages are being offered in lieu of Parks & Recreation’s annual membership program, which had not been updated since 2004. The new monthly membership programs allow Arlington residents to participate in a wide range of Parks & Recreation’s programs at any center without paying additional fees as they would have under the previous membership program. Monthly memberships can be purchased for individuals or for a family of up to five people. Individual membership rates are based on the age of the participant and are discounted for adult residents over the age of 60. Family memberships for anyone living under the same roof up to five people. Additional family members would need to purchase individual membership packages based on age. Non-residents are also eligible to buy a Parks & Recreation monthly membership at a slightly higher cost than residents. Patrons can choose among three levels of membership, based on their needs and interests. For example, someone looking to swim laps at The East’s 113,000-gallon indoor pool or to take advantage of the indoor track at The Beacon may find the basic Blue membership to be the best fit for their fitness needs. A Green membership opens up access to weight room and cardio equipment at all centers. And the Gold membership provides patrons with discounts on select programs as well as the highest level of access to amenities and programs at all centers, including in-person and virtual fitness classes, roller skating at Elzie Odom, and on-site childcare for up to four children during visits at no extra cost. Ready to begin enjoying all the great amenities and programs that Arlington has to offer? Stop by any of the centers or the Parks & Recreation Administration Office, 717 W. Main St., to sign up today. You can also purchase a membership online; naturallyfun.org. For questions or help, please call the Admin Office at 817-459-5474 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Not ready to commit to a monthly membership? Arlington Parks & Recreation offers a day pass for $8, which provides an individual with Gold membership access to any center. Patrons must be 15 years or older to purchase an individual membership or day pass. Please note that water fitness classes for the indoor pool at The East are not included in any membership package. MINERAL WELL PUBLIC PLAZA
The City plans to rebuild history with this addition, expected to be completed in 2023. This project will restore the famous Mineral Well that was torn down in 1951. This well is central to Arlington’s development and collective memory. The project goal is to provide a public gathering place to memorialize the historic Mineral Well, through creation of a strong focal point and visual terminus for the view looking eastward down W. Main St. The proposed site is located at the west end of the plaza situated between City Hall and the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library. The scope of work includes construction of a public plaza. The plaza will include focal point elements such as the architectural clock tower with art work, sculpted by a local artist, water feature, seating areas and sculptural elements that memorialize the Mineral Well. The total project budget amount is $1,000,000 and will be funded through the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation. The ATF grant will provide funding for professional fees, project design and construction. APRD will operate and maintain the fountain and seek operating and maintenance funding in the City’s general fund budget to support these efforts. Design completed April 2022. The City is soliciting proposals for construction for June 2, through Competitive Sealed Bid Process. Construction anticipated to begin October 2022, with a dedication ceremony anticipated in the spring of 2023.

RICHARD SIMPSON PARK PHASE II
Arlington residents were invited to check out the Phase II Open House on June 1, 2022. Richard Simpson Park is a 9-acre City park on the shoreline of Lake Arlington. It is one of only two Arlington parks that provide public access to Lake Arlington for recreational usage. The 2008 bond election included replacement of the lake house facility. The Phase-I development, that included design and construction of the new Kathryn Wilemon Lake House Event Center, was completed in 2019. The 2018 Bond Program includes improvements for Phase-II development. The Phase-II development provides site amenities such as, playground area with swings (for age groups 2-5 years, 5-12 years), group pavilion, event gardens with gazebo, pedestrian pathway connections, picnic stations, (floating) boat house, lakeview overlook area, fishing pier, parking lot improvements and landscaping. The City of Arlington entered into a professional services contract with Freese and Nichols, Inc. of Fort Worth, Texas, to provide design and engineering services for Phase-II Development. The design phase of the park commenced in 2022. Construction is anticipated to begin in December 2023 with an anticipated project completion date of December 2024.

ACTIVE ADULT CENTER
Expected to be completed in 2025, the Active Adult Center will strive to enhance the life of seniors throughout Arlington. Arlington voters approved general obligation bonds in the amount of $45 million in a May 6, 2017 vote, to build an Active Adult Center. Current plans call for the facility to be across the street from the West Police Station, and located on the southwest corner of the current Pierce Burch Water Treatment site off of Green Oaks Blvd. (between W. Arkansas Ln. and W. Pioneer Pkwy). Senior programming for the Parks and Recreation department is served by Eunice Activity Center (currently closed) and The East Library and Recreation Center, both located in east Arlington. Amenities of the recreation center could include full-court gymnasium, aquatics component for both water exercise and leisure, locker rooms, fitness area, walking track, multi-purpose rooms for educational programs/events or sedentary activities, special events space, outdoor patio. All amenities and program offerings will be determined by available budget. The design phase of the facility resumed in 2021. Construction is anticipated to begin February 2023, with an anticipated project completion date of February 2025.

ROTARY DREAM PARK
The DREAM sculpture will be relocated to this new park by approximately June 1, 2023. The City is designing a new .619 acre park located on E. Front Street between N. Center Street and N. Mesquite Street and Union Pacific Railroad. The DREAM sculpture, currently located on property owned by the First Baptist Church east of Founders Plaza and the Levitt Pavilion, will be relocated to this new park. Also, in recognition of their 100th anniversary, the Rotary Club of Arlington is donating a new sculpture which will also be located on the same site. The City will complete the design and construction for the installation of both pieces of work and maintain this park in the future.
The masterplan of the new park will allow for an interactive experience and a gathering point for residents and visitors to downtown Arlington. The park’s location is ideal to connect the new developments on Front and Division streets to the increasing vibrant downtown core south of the railroad tracks.
The Rotary Club of Arlington has imagined and donated funding to be used on the commissioned sculpture to be done by Jen Lewin Studio. The sculpture will celebrate the Rotary Club’s 100 years of dedication, vision and involvement with the Arlington community. The sculpture will be installed by approximately June 1, 2023 in conjunction with the centennial celebration.

NEW MEMORIALS AT VETERANS PARK
Korean War and Korean Defense Veteran's Memorial and Memorial to the Fallen at Veterans Park. Collaborating with the Walton Walker Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association, the Arlington Veterans Park Foundation will complete a Korean War Memorial and a Memorial to the Fallen in Arlington Veterans Park. The Korean War and Korean Defense Veterans Memorial will consist of five black granite markers placed inside a circular standing area enclosed by a seating bench. Four of the columns recognize the military service branches that served in the Korean conflict. The center column contains a map of the Korean Peninsula. A bronze kneeling soldier faces the monument. The water feature and star in the original Master Plan is replaced in the revised plan with a paved plaza with a granite star inside a concrete circle. The two existing memorials, as well as the Korean War memorial, will radiate from the center of the star in the Memorial to the Fallen. A five-sided granite pedestal will sit in the center of the star, each side representing the names of all the Arlington residents who have died in the nation’s service during times of war. The Arlington Historical Society has an ongoing project to find all the names of the fallen from Arlington. The Foundation and the Korean War Veterans Association contracted with Parkhill (formerly Schrickel Rollins Associates) to provide a new master plan for the memorials. The Foundation paid 62.5% of the design fees for this effort. The City is currently under contract for the design and construction document package with MMA of Arlington. The Arlington Tomorrow Foundation awarded $701,765 to the City for this project. The Foundation provided a $49,000 cash match and the KWVA provided a $32,000 cash match, creating a total project budget of $782,765. Design development commenced December 2021. Construction is anticipated to begin September 2022, with an anticipated project completion date of May 2023.

Arlington Golf and the Texas Rangers have partnered to build the world’s only Major League Baseball-branded golf course — the Texas Rangers Golf Club — which opened in February 2019. This collaborative branding partnership, along with $24 million in course renovations, affords the opportunity for Arlington to offer a destination golf course for both Arlington residents and visitors alike.
Welcome to Home Plate at Texas Rangers Golf Club. Founded in 2021, the full service restaurant and bar is open to the public daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Patrons will enjoy a made-from-scratch menu and 10 beers on tap, paired with spectacular golf course vistas. Wall-to-wall TVs for your sports viewing pleasure, including 31 TVs within the restaurant and bar alone.
“As the world’s only MLB-themed golf course, this course is sure to be a ‘bucket list’ item for baseball fans across the globe, especially our Rangers fan right here in Arlington,” Mayor Jeff Williams said.
Expansive covered patio overlooking the golf course is the perfect spot for al fresco dining. Customers can also enjoy cocktails at one of the many outdoor patio seating areas on the events lawn overlooking the golf course.
The golf club is open to the public seven days a week. Texas Rangers Golf Club is the closest 18-hole golf course to Arlington’s Entertainment District, offering a chance to play golf in conjunction with a visit to a Dallas Cowboys or Texas Rangers Game, TexasLive!, or the numerous other events at AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Park, UTA or downtown Arlington.
Executive Chef Matthew Trevino will lead the kitchen at Home Plate after nearly five years within the Ritz-Carlton Company, with roles in Dallas and Lake Tahoe.
A $24 million project, Texas Rangers Golf Club involved a total renovation and updated routing of the existing golf course with improved turf grasses and additional water features. A new 33,871-square-foot clubhouse, which opening in early 2020, features a full-service restaurant and bar, covered patio overlooking the golf course, pro shop, locker rooms, and numerous rental and event spaces.

It’s hard to find a more beautiful course than the award-winning Tierra Verde Golf Club. Tierra Verde is the first golf course in Texas, and the first municipal course in the world, to be certified as an Audubon Signature Sanctuary. Walk onto the first tee and enter an environment where golf and nature come together in harmony. Opened in 1998 and carved from 250 acres of secluded terrain, the course’s unsurpassed layout encompasses a variety of natural settings and offers an outstanding playing experience on every hole. The course has hosted many prestigious events, including the Byron Nelson Qualifying Tournament.
Trade the typical parking lot views of other restaurants for Ventana Grille and the sights and sounds of Tierra Verde Golf Club — the first Audubon Signature Sanctuary golf course in Texas — where golf, dining and nature come together. Open to the public daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and offering a takeout menu, Ventana Grille’s affordable options under $10 makes it the perfect place for your next meal.
Tierra Verde has been named the top golf course in the Metroplex for three years (2012-14) by AvidGolfer magazine.*
Ideally located less than three miles from I-20 off US 287, Ventana Grille is an excellent place to grab a bite to eat and enjoy a couple of drinks after your round of golf. It’s a quick casual lunch spot for you and your co-workers, and the ideal setting to celebrate your next special event.
Each hole has five sets of tees, sculpted fairways, strategically placed sand bunkers and water hazards - all accented by stately trees and beautiful native grasses.
The kitchen is open daily from 6:30 AM to 9 PM and features Avid Golfer’s ‘Best Breakfast Burrito’ and daily lunch specials ranging from $7.95 to $9.95.
The facility features a state-of-the-art golf learning center, a lighted driving range, three-hole practice course and large chipping and putting green complex. Lessons and clinics are taught by PGA/LPGA professionals and apprentices, an outdoor pavilion and full-service restaurant, Ventana Grille, that complement every event from small corporate outings to large fundraising tournaments.
Be sure to visit ArlingtonGolf.com to see a list of upcoming events at Ventana Grille. Whether you are attending one of our special holiday functions, Ticket to Travel dinners or are just enjoying a meal away from home, Ventana Grille promises to be a delight to the taste buds. Catering, wedding receptions, private parties, to-go orders and special requests are welcome. Take the stress off and let us handle the details for your upcoming event. Lake Arlington Golf Course is a beautiful, 18-hole facility nestled on 185 acres on the north shore of Lake Arlington. The course was designed with all types of players in mind. With the newly renovated fairways and greens, the course provides a great golfing experience at an exceptional value. Lake Arlington’s time-honored design blends open and tree-lined fairways, long challenging par 3’s and scenic greens to appeal to every level of player. A challenge for the professional as well as the beginner, the four sets of tees, ranging from 5,485 yards to 6,637 yards, provides a fair playing field that appeals to every level. The clubhouse features a well stocked pro shop and grill. Lake Arlington’s combination of enjoyable golf, convenient location and professional staff create the perfect setting for group outings and tournaments.
Arlington’s tradition of outstanding golf began in the 1920’s with Meadowbrook Park Golf Course. Conveniently located just east of downtown Arlington, the golf course provides an excellent choice for families and leagues. The golf course is the centerpiece of Arlington’s first city park. Arlington purchased the 52-acre site in 1923 and it was sponsored by the Arlington Rotary Club. The site includes picnic grounds and the tree-filled, nine-hole golf course. Many of the holes feature vistas of nearby AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys. Meadowbrook Park is the perfect facility to learn golf and sharpen short-game skills. The 9-Hole, par-33 layout consists of six par 4s, 250 to 300 yards in length, and three par 3s, approximately 150 yards in length.
The course offers challenging golf along with a practice putting green and chipping area at an exceptional value.
The course can be easily walked or played under time constraints and has a long-standing commitment to beginning adult and junior golfers. Golf legends Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson once led golf clinics here.
A Ralph Plummer design, the course was renovated in 1998 and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2013.
Its small greens and narrow fairways are designed to challenge every level of player.
Avid Golfer voted Lake Arlington the most kid-friendly course in DFW in 2013, while the layout garnered a Top-50 public course ranking in the publication too.
The clubhouse offers a full line pro shop, concessions, and golf cart rentals. Exclusive facility rental opportunities are available for both golf and non-golf outdoor activities.
PGA Head Professional Michael Berneburg and his staff offer golf lessons for all ages and ability levels. Call 817-451-6101 for rates and availability.
With a long-standing commitment to environmental enhancement and preservation, Meadowbrook Park Golf Course is like a walk in the park for the whole family!

MUSIC UNDER THE STARS
The Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts in Arlington presents more than 50 free outdoor concerts a year with a broad-based concert calendar of professional musical artists, from world music to jazz and home-grown Texas country to hot Indie artists. The Levitt presents original artists, many of them Grammy Award winners. Last concert season, the Levitt Pavilion attracted more than 73,200 people to Downtown Arlington from three countries, 23 states and 123 cities. The Levitt Pavilion experience is about building community as families, school groups, entire neighborhoods and people from all parts of our area join side by side in a safe, fun, casual atmosphere to enjoy live music together. Many of these families and groups would not have the opportunity to experience the magic of live music if they had to pay ticket prices. The Levitt Pavilion gives our community an accessible gathering place for free music open to everyone – all ages, all ethnicities, all neighborhoods and all income levels. Levitt Pavilion Arlington brings music and the performing arts to Arlington in a way thousands are responding to – available to everyone to enjoy under the stars.
