NEW FOR 2014!

Hospital Design for the 21st Century

January 18 - 20 | Saturday - Monday

BETTER FACILITIES MEAN BETTER CARE. Providing better care to our animals starts with a more strategic approach to designing and outfitting hospitals, clinics and veterinary facilities, and learning from professionals in the field of hospital design, like keynote speaker, Fritz Wood. With a limited number of spaces, participants in this exclusive “Hospital Design Workshop” will take part in interactive panels with experts in all areas of hospital design, including architects, builders and financing pros. They’ll share their experience and examples, and demonstrate how enhancing your facility will enhance your level of care and your overall practice, too. • “Hospital Design Workshop” takes place at our brand new classroom near the Marriott Exhibit Hall. • Intimate setting and small classroom means one-on-one learning with instructors and your fellow attendees. • From ground-up construction to remodeling projects and facilities additions – our pros will cover it all. • Interactive panels will address your specific questions and areas of interest. • Exclusive Friday night reception offers another opportunity to network and learn.

$50 fee for the 3-Day Hospital Design Workshop. Priceless Insight.

A Message from the NAVC President

CE Credit Information

This has been a very big year for the NAVC. It started with a big development: changing our name to the North American Veterinary Community. Today’s NAVC is so much more than a single conference. We’re a non-profit professional association on a mission: to provide the global veterinary community with the information and resources you need to provide better care for animals everywhere. Of course, our annual conference remains a cornerstone of that effort. At the NAVC Conference 2014, we will inspire you to Think BIG. You’ll hear BIG ideas from the leaders in veterinary science and practice management. You’ll gain BIG knowledge with more than 1,200 CE credit hours covering every species and specialty. You’ll discover BIG innovations in our New Product Gallery and from our 650+ exhibitors. When you join me at the Opening Ceremony, you’ll hear a BIG announcement about revolutionary new learning offerings from the NAVC. As the first Veterinary Technician to serve as President of a major veterinary association, I know that this is an extraordinary time for our profession. So I invite you to join us at the NAVC Conference 2014. It’s not just a BIG year for us, with all the new learning and resources we have in store, it’s going to be a BIG year for you too.

To track your earned CE:

Scan your name badge with the attendant at each classroom door to digitally record your attendance. After the conference, you may print your CE Certificate once you log in at NAVC.com and/ or email it to yourself while on-site at the NAVC Conference. 75-minute session = 1.5 CE credit hours 50-minute session = 1 CE credit hour

Best Regards, Lynne E. Johnson-Harris, LVT, RVT

YOU CAN’T MAKE IT TO EVERY SINGLE NAVC CONFERENCE SESSION, BUT WITH SEARCHABLE DIGITAL PROCEEDINGS, YOU CAN CATCH UP ON WHAT YOU MISSED.

2014

The NAVC Conference offers more than 1,200 hours of continuing education credits. An attendee can attain as many as 41.5 credits by taking advantage of the full slate of scheduled sessions offered over the course of the 5-day NAVC Conference.

20-minute session = 0.5 CE credit hour 15-minute session = 0.25 CE credit hour

(ivermectin /pyrantel pamoate/praziquantel) CAUTION: Federal (US) law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian. BRIEF SUMMARY: Please consult package insert for complete product information. Indications: For use in dogs to prevent canine heartworm disease by eliminating the tissue stage of heartworm larvae (Dirofilaria immitis) for a month (30 days) after infection and for the treatment and control of roundworms (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina), hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma braziliense), and tapeworms (Dipylidium caninum, Taenia pisiformis). WARNINGS: For use in dogs only. Keep this and all drugs out of reach of children. In safety studies, testicular hypoplasia was observed in some dogs receiving 3 and 5 times the maximum recommended dose monthly for 6 months (see Animal Safety). In case of ingestion by humans, clients should be advised to contact a physician immediately. Physicians may contact a Poison Control Center for advice concerning cases of ingestion by humans. PRECAUTIONS: Use with caution in sick, debilitated, or underweight animals and dogs weighing less than 10 lbs (see Animal Safety). The safe use of this drug has not been evaluated in pregnant or lactating bitches. All dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infection before starting treatment with IVERHART MAX Chewable Tablets, which are not effective against adult D. immitis. Infected dogs should be treated to remove adult heartworms and microfilariae before initiating a heartworm prevention program. While some microfilariae may be killed by the ivermectin in IVERHART MAX Chewable Tablets at the recommended dose level, IVERHART MAX Chewable Tablets are not effective for microfilariae clearance. A mild hypersensitivity-type reaction, presumably due to dead or dying microfilariae and particularly involving a transient diarrhea, has been observed in clinical trials with ivermectin alone after treatment of some dogs that have circulating microfilariae. ADVERSE REACTIONS: In clinical field trials with ivermectin/pyrantel pamoate, vomiting or diarrhea within 24 hours of dosing was rarely observed (1.1% of administered doses). The following adverse reactions have been reported following the use of ivermectin: depression/lethargy, vomiting, anorexia, diarrhea, mydriasis, ataxia, staggering, convulsions and hypersalivation. ANIMAL SAFETY: Studies with ivermectin indicate that certain dogs of the Collie breed are more sensitive to the effects of ivermectin administered at elevated dose levels (more than 16 times the target use level of 6 mcg/kg) thandogs of other breeds. At elevated doses, sensitive dogs showed adverse reactions which included mydriasis, depression, ataxia, tremors, drooling, paresis, recumbency, excitability, stupor, coma and death. No signs of toxicity were seen at 10 times the recommended dose (27.2 mcg/lb) in sensitive Collies. Results of these studies and bioequivalence studies support the safety of ivermectin products in dogs, including Collies, when used as recommended by the label. In a laboratory safety study, 12-week-old Beagle puppies receiving 3 and 5 times the recommended dose once weekly for 13 weeks demonstrated a dose-related decrease in testicular maturation compared to untreated controls. HOW SUPPLIED: IVERHART MAX Chewable Tablets are available in four dosage strengths (see Dosage section) for dogs of different weights. Each strength comes in a box of 6 chewable tablets, packed 10 boxes per display box. STORAGE INFORMATION: Store at 20°C -25°C (68°F-77°F), excursions permitted between 15°C-30°C (59°F-86°F). Protect product from light. For technical assistance or to report adverse drug reactions, please call 1-800-338-3659. Manufactured by: Virbac AH, Inc. Fort Worth, TX 76137 NADA 141-257, Approved by FDA IVERHART MAX is a registered trademark of Virbac Corporation.

Florida offers an array of tours and activities for you and your guests. From soaring through space to testing your courage with Florida’s native wildlife, Hello! Florida has you covered! And speaking of theme parks, Hello Florida! also offers discount attraction tickets to the area’s most popular playgrounds. Just follow the website link above to start your adventure! Saturday, January 18 Kennedy Space Center

Monday, January 20 Everglades Adventure Day

Worlds apart from Orlando’s theme parks, but just a short drive away, Kennedy Space Center is NASA’s launch headquarters. Each year, millions of visitors make the trek to this hub of technology and discovery where many of mankind’s greatest accomplishments take place. Tour NASA’s launch and landing facilities, experience live shows and jawdropping encounters with massive rockets as well as have the opportunity to meet a real member of NASA’s Astronaut Corps. It’s all what you can expect during an inspiring day at Kennedy Space Center.

The Wildlife Park gives guests the opportunity to watch, touch and even feed some of Florida’s native land-dwelling animals. It is also home to several beautiful exotic species including Zebras, Watusi, Water Buffalo, Emu and Zebu. Enjoy a closer look at alligators and exotic wildlife as you glide through 4,200 acres of untouched nature preserve on an exclusive airboat ride. The swamp is free of any development and is 100% pure Florida wilderness. After your ride, you’ll have the opportunity to have your picture taken while holding a baby alligator!
