offshore energy exhibition & Conference New talent at Offshore Energy

One key challenge facing the oil and gas industry today is finding, recruiting and training a new generation of professionals to produce more complex hydrocarbons. Primarily a B2B exhibition, Offshore Energy also offers its exhibitors tools to spot new talent. Companies using Offshore Energy’s career package will have a job route sign on their booth, job descriptions in the event catalogue and career postings in several media. Dutch companies like Heerema, Huisman Equipment and Jumbo, as well as foreign companies like Franklin Offshore and Saudi Aramco, have already booked their career package.

Official Event Hotel Wyndham Apollo

Offshore Energy offers its exhibitors and visitors a wide range of hotel & travel services. The official event hotel, the Wyndham Apollo Hotel, is located a mere 10 minutes away from the Amsterdam RAI. Exhibitors, visitors and delegates are offered discounted room rates (limited rooms available). On October 10th, event organizer Navingo will welcome all early arrivals for a drink at the Offshore Energy Kick-off party in the Wyndham Apollo Hotel. To book your room in this hotel, or in one of the other selected hotels, please go to www.offshore-energy.biz.

Development Company Holland North remains involved in Offshore Energy

The new location of Offshore Energy in the Amsterdam RAI will offer many new opportunities for the region North Holland North, which will gain international exposure as the operational offshore location for companies in The Netherlands. The development company, Holland North, is continuing its cooperation with Navingo BV, allowing Den Helder to come into the regional spotlight. Holland North has remained an active partner in Offshore Energy since the first edition in 2008. The offshore energy sector is important to the region North Holland North, largely because of Den Helder’s seaport and airport, both of which are very important for logistics and transport of personnel and materials to the various North Sea platforms. Because Offshore Energy is an international exhibition and conference, it provides an excellent platform to display the business advantages of the region North Holland North.

Navingo: possible exhibition hall expansion The 8,000 sq. m. exhibition hall at Amsterdam RAI, which will host Offshore Energy 2011, has rapidly filled up! In no time at all, over 250 stands were sold - well over 80% of the expected number of stands. Offshore Energy is pleased to welcome back a number of internationally operating leader firms including Heerema Group, Siemens, Fugro and Damen Shipyards Group. Next to these returning companies, new participants such as SPIE, Dockwise, MTU, Heinen & Hopman Engineering, Van Oord Offshore, SAL Heavy Lift and Huisman have also confirmed their presence. Given the exhibition forecasts, event organizer Navingo is seriously considering expanding the hall to 10,000 sq. m. This would mean that companies still wanting to book space, but who have missed the sign up deadline, would still have a chance to secure booth space.

Visitors from around the world

The first edition of Offshore Energy in the Amsterdam RAI promises to bring together key decision makers throughout the industry. Exhibitors from around the globe will find their

way to Amsterdam, and Offshore Energy will welcome companies from the UK, Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Germany. Preregistered visitors are travelling from Europe, North-America, Africa and Asia, and, judging from current numbers, the total turnout might just exceed the expected 5,000 visitors. For registration for the conference, as well as the pre-registration for the exhibition, please visit www.offshore-energy.biz.

offshore energy Interview JAAP DEN OUDEN, MERCON

OE2011 COMMITTEE OF RECOMMENDATION

Founder and Member of the Supervisory Board With over 40 years of experience in the steel construction industry, Jaap den Ouden, founder and supervisory board member of Mercon, is one of the valuable members of Offshore Energy’s Committee of Recommendation. Joining the Committee wasn’t a difficult decision for Den Ouden: “I consider Offshore Energy to be the most important networking platform for the Dutch offshore industry.” Den Ouden: “The Netherlands is a relatively small country, but with a major offshore industry. An event like Offshore Energy can put that industry on the map internationally.” Den Ouden thinks Offshore Energy should really try to be different than other offshore exhibitions such as Offshore Europe and ONS: “Offshore Energy should focus on the vast knowledge of important issues and innovations within the industry that our country has to offer. We should highlight this during Offshore Energy. In doing so, we can show the world the strength of our offshore industry and distinguish ourselves from other offshore exhibitions that can depend on their home markets.”

Coming together

Den Ouden continues: “We should also not forget to focus on bringing people together, both at the exhibition and conference as well as during network events, diners and drinks. For many, one of the main reasons for visiting events like Offshore Energy is to meet new potential business contacts and exchange knowledge. The organization has an important job facilitating this form of communication. Luckily, Offshore Energy has managed to do this very well; something that without a doubt has contributed to the event’s massive success.”

Recommended visit

Den Ouden: “I recommend visiting Offshore Energy to anybody with interests in the offshore industry -- it’s the best networking platform for the industry in The Netherlands.” He especially sees possibilities for the operators and the Dutch government (also through EBN), who is a major stakeholder in the Dutch offshore projects. “I think they could try harder to not only stimulate new innovations and cooperation within the industry, but also to communicate their vision on the industry’s current status and future. Offshore Energy provides them with a perfect opportunity to do just that.”

Global Energy Outlook Conference Tuesday 11 October | 09:00 – 12:30

The Global Energy Outlook Conference offers an investment outlook bringing you up to date with the latest insights in energy demand and supply, oil price developments and the key role of natural gas. International and national oil companies alike will invest heavily in bringing new fields on-stream and the year 2011 will even see an increase in E&P spending. However, new investments present new challenges for the oil, gas and energy companies. These new challenges will be addressed in this conference. The Global Energy Outlook conference also lays focus on the changing relationships between IOCs and NOCs, but more specifically on the increasing competition from Asian National Oil Companies such as PetroChina, Petronas and Korean National Oil Company. Additionally, this conference will touch upon cross cutting issues such as the need for a skilled workforce and the impact of post-Macondo regulatory changes. Join the Global Energy Outlook Conference and benefit from expert knowledge, fresh perspective and an improved outlook which will assist you in making more informed business decisions! Deepwater Gas Conference Tuesday 11 October | 13:30 – 17:30

The International Energy Agency has questioned whether we are entering the golden age of gas in its recent report on future energy supply. The future of gas, it seems, looks rosy and the Deepwater Gas Conference will explore this relatively new outlook. The world economy is picking up after the financial crisis and energy demand increases. As nuclear energy is again the subject of heavy debating and concerns about CO2 emissions still hover in the air, gas will stand front and center in the years to come; not as a “transition fuel” but as a “destination fuel”. Strong business cases for gas allow operators to invest in increasingly difficult gas projects: deep water and in remote areas, for example. One of the main reasons we are seeing ever more ingenious piping system designs. Offshore gas liquefaction, like Shell’s Prelude LNG FPSO project, should even make it possible to monetize stranded gas. The Deepwater Gas Conference will present a global gas market outlook along with the business case for deepwater gas development. Invited operators, contractors and other experts will discuss their views on the economics of deepwater development, and give attendees a glance at their commercial and technical experiences associated with the challenges of unlocking distant gas resources. The Deepwater Gas Conference is one you will not want to miss. Come and gain a deeper awareness on the state of play in deepwater technologies and critical issues to ensure a more profitable value chain. Deepwater Gas Conference media partner:
