A Seamless Homecoming When Susan and Randy Steen contemplated moving from Dubai back to their native Alabama two years ago, they went online and spotted a beautiful home along the Alabama River in Autagaville. It seemed perfect for them and their three children. ey sent their agent, Jamie Harper, a sales associate with Forrest Meadows Homes & Land in Montgomery, Ala., to view the home for them. But when Harper got there, he discovered a potentially jarring feature on the property: a five-plot cemetery about 30 yards to the le of the front door. "I was really taken aback," Harper says. "ere was no mention of a cemetery in the MLS or by the seller's agent. I was thinking this may not fly with my clients." ough the cemetery could have been a deal breaker, there were other compensating virtues of the property that Harper knew would please the Steens. It was very quiet and private, had a modern design, and was move-in-ready, all of which topped their list of must-haves. Susan Steen says they eventually purchased the home because Harper was able to show them how it met their needs.

Transportation Safety
Walking to school p Review your family’s walking safety rules.
• Walk on the sidewalk, if one is available. When on a street with no sidewalk, walk facing the traffic. • Before you cross the street, stop and look left, right and left again to see if cars are coming. • Never dart out in front of a parked car. • Practice walking to school with your child. Cross streets at crosswalks when available
Riding a bicycle to school p Make sure your child always wears his/her helmet when leaving the house.
p Make sure helmet is fitted and secured properly p Teach your children the rules of the road. • Ride on the right side of the road, with traffic, and in a single file. • Come to a complete stop before crossing the street. Walk bike across street.
Riding the bus to school p Go to the bus stop with your child to teach them the proper way to get on and off the bus.
p Make sure your children stand six feet away (or 3 giant steps) from the curb.
p If your child and you need to cross the street in front of the bus, walk on the side of the road until you are 10 feet ahead of the bus. You always should be able to see the bus driver, and the bus driver always should be able to see you.
