It’s music to our ears!
Recently, along with BHS Band Directors Chris Owen and Brian Van Kley, five Batavia High School students were selected to attend the Illinois Music Educators Conference offered by the Illinois Music Educators Association (ILMEA). These students along with 1,500 other selected musicians representing over 300 schools across Illinois were in attendance. Derrick Heine (Euphonium), Miah Miglore (Bassoon) and Zoe McKeehan (Bass Clarinet) auditioned into the All-State Honors Band—a great accomplishment! The Batavia High School Wind Symphony
From left, Derrick Heine, Miah Miglore and Zoe McKeehan were named to the All-State Honors Band at the ILMEA conference.

Mia Chahmirzadi and Kamil Lebowa were selected to attend the Future Music Educators Seminar. In an effort to identify and encourage potential future music educators into the profession, ILMEA has created this forum where selected students are mentored and exposed to various aspects of the profession. This pre-professional opportunity is a strong first step toward a career as a music educator.
The Illinois Music Education Association exists to advocate for universal access to comprehensive music education; deliver exemplary professional development for educators, and provide outstanding musical experiences
