Kiwanis Club: Batavia kids experience service to community Kiwanis Club of Batavia sponsors Youth Service Programs at all eight schools in the BPS101 district. Participation begins with volunteer and leadership programs in elementary school through K-Kids. Last month, Batavia kids participated in National K-Kids Week, Feb. 17–21. Each day emphasized service within homes, schools and communities, helping to make K-Kids a household name. The remarkable program gave members the opportunity to show their community what K-Kids is truly about: service. Batavia United Way: bingo, soup tasting, barn party brings community together

Batavia United Way (BUW) hosts many fundraisers throughout the year to support their mission. February brings Family Bingo Night. The annual soup tasting is in March. In September is United Way’s fabulous Barn Party. October’s 5K/10K Halloween-themed race is always a good time. Batavia United Way relies on community not only to participate, but to volunteer. The Batavia Rotary Club continues to honor their motto of Service Above Self. In February, they worked at the Northern Illinois Food Bank. This month, they join other Tri-City Rotary Clubs to support Changing Children’s Worlds Foundation on Sun., March 15 at 3pm for a Chicago Steel game benefiting this worthy organization. The Batavia Moose Lodge is part of an international organization of men and women dedicated to caring for young and old. It is about bringing communities closer together and celebrating life. Batavia Lions Club: Annual Plant Day sale provides scholarships for Batavia H.S. seniors

Batavia Lions are your neighbors giving their valuable time to serve the community by joining together to take action for a cause. Education is an area where Lions show they care. Each year the Batavia Lions provide scholarships to high school seniors from Batavia who demonstrate their commitment to service within the community. The number of scholarships depends on the proceeds collected from the sale of locally grown flower baskets. The 38th Annual Plant Day will be held Sat., May 9. Buy baskets to support education.
