April’s #FromBataviaWithLove Campaign is a city-wide effort What started as a desire to give back and create awareness about child abuse has grown to a Bataviawide campaign planned for the month of April. The month-long promotion will gather donations of wishlist items and money for CASA Kane County through city-wide events as well as merchant and school participation.

The core planning committee has representatives from the City of Batavia, Batavia Chamber of Commerce, Batavia MainStreet, Batavia Public School District 101, the Batavia Retail Merchants Group, and Batavia Woman’s Club. Mary Marconi Popiel of Special Occasions on the Avenue serves as the chairperson. Thirteen pieces of luggage or trunks are getting a facelift courtesy of local artisans. The luggage art pieces are to be displayed and will be a focal point of a “Travel Batavia” promotion on Sat., April 4. At the closing event on Thurs., April 30, the pieces will be auctioned, with all monies donated to CASA Kane County. Center to the campaign is a concerted effort to collect new diaper bags, duffel bags and suitcases for children who often must leave a home with nothing more than a garbage bag of belongings. Toiletries and other necessities will also be collected. A list of suggested items is available on the group’s Facebook page: facebook.com/ From-Batavia-WithLove-102195907973794/. Please follow the page for event updates, too.
