THE ROGERS STORY
FAMILY OWNED SINCE 1937
DEAR VALUED CUSTOMER,
In 1937, a young jewelry salesman and a practicing optometrist founded Rogers Jewelry Co. in Modesto, California. These two men—Harry Marks and Dr. Robert Moon, respectively—built their company on the principles of providing quality jewelry, friendly service, and fair credit while maintaining the highest standards of integrity. Since then, our family has grown to its fourth generation, with six family members working in our stores and Robert Marks—grandson of co-founder Harry Marks—serving as President.
A diamond isn’t made overnight; neither is a relationship you can trust. After all this time, we’ve learned exactly what customers want—better brands, better service, and better selection.
We have grown from a single store to eight locations across California and Nevada—all built on a legacy of trust. Our eight superstores have four times the square footage of a typical mall store, which allows them to carry a much larger selection of jewelry, as well as offer custom design centers, private viewing rooms, and local jewelers to make repairs on-site.
We are confident in the craftsmanship of every piece of jewelry we sell. In fact, our diamond warranty comes standard on everything. We will replace any diamond* that falls out of any piece of jewelry we have sold.** We also offer a service plan to extend the life of your jewelry so it can become your own family heirloom. It covers normal wear to accidental damage and everything in between.
Rogers has been inspiring people to make their own love stories with the finest quality diamonds and jewelry for over 80 years. That’s a lot of love. With custom design training for every sales member and the newest CAD technology, we can help you create a unique love story that will last a lifetime.
Forever and always, ROGERS JEWELRY CO.

YOUR GUIDE TO THE BEST EARRINGS FOR SENSITIVE EARS
Do your ears get red or irritated when you wear a specific pair of earrings? If so, you might actually be allergic to them! Keep reading to learn what the ca suse is and how to get rid of it once and for all.
Many people take for granted the ability to wear whatever jewelry they want. Those earrings look cute with your outfit? Perfect.
Put them on and go. Love those hoops on display? Awesome -- buying them now! But not everyone is so lucky. For people with skin allergies, it can be hard to find the best earrings for sensitive ears.
Whether you’re buying for yourself or someone else, shopping for the perfect pair of earrings should feel fun and not like a chore. Knowing what to look for can be half the battle. So, with that in mind, here are some tips and tricks on how to find the best earrings for sensitive ears.
WHY ARE MY EARS SO SENSITIVE?
If your ears get red and itchy when you wear earrings, it most likely means that you are allergic to a metal in the earring posts. The most common metal allergy people have is to nickel. According to experts, repeated exposure can even increase the risk of developing an allergy at any age.
Some people with sensitive ears can still wear any earrings for a short amount of time. However, for others, even a very tiny amount of a metal they are sensitive to will cause a reaction. It all depends on your level of sensitivity.
WHAT ARE THE BEST EARRINGS FOR SENSITIVE EARS?
Since the most common cause of sensitive ears is likely a nickel allergy, the first thing to do is avoid earrings that have nickel in the posts. Don’t just assume that earrings marked hypoallergenic will work. Although this means they are less likely to cause an allergic reaction, there is unfortunately no standard in the jewelry industry when it comes to what hypoallergenic means.
To be safe, the best earrings for sensitive ears are ones marked nickel-free. Some earrings are called hypoallergenic because the nickel in their posts are coated with another material, but over time, the coating can come off, and repeated wear may still irritate your ears.
The best earrings for sensitive ears are generally made with gold, platinum, or silver. Make sure you buy earrings that are 14k gold or above or sterling silver 925 to avoid the possibility of nickel being mixed in. However, you might want to steer clear of pure 24k gold unless you’re sensitive to even the most minute amounts of nickel because of how soft and malleable the metal is.
Other materials that work for sensitive ears include stainless steel, titanium, plastic, and niobium. However, some of these materials are cheaper and more breakable, and can be more difficult to find.
HOW TO MAKE ANY PAIR OF EARRINGS HYPOALLERGENIC
If you have a pair of earrings that you just absolutely love but just can’t wear without getting a reaction, here are a couple of tricks that you can try to make them tolerable.
The best solution is to paint the posts with a couple of coats of clear nail polish. After the polish dries, it will create a barrier between the nickel in the earrings and your ears. You will have to reapply the polish periodically if you plan to wear them more than a few times.
If you’re in a hurry, clean the earrings with hydrogen peroxide and then apply a couple coats of Vaseline. Be aware, however, that this will likely only work for a couple of hours before you have to reapply the jelly again.
INVEST IN EARRINGS YOU’LL WEAR AGAIN AND AGAIN WITH ROGERS JEWELRY CO.
If you want to be one hundred percent sure of what materials your earrings are made of, let our experts at Rogers Jewelry Co. guide you. A pair of fine jewelry earrings, from say, a trusted brand like Hearts on Fire, is a sound investment for you or someone you love, especially if you have sensitive ears.
We can help you find a pair that you will adore and want to continue wearing for a long time. Check out our selection online or visit one of our stores today!
FALL IN LOVE WITH A DIAMOND AS RARE AS YOU ARE
THE 4 C’S—CARAT, COLOR, CLARITY, AND CUT—ARE USED TO DETERMINE A DIAMOND’S RARITY.
CARAT WEIGHT
Carat weight tells you how much a diamond weighs when put on a scale. The more it weighs, the more it’s worth. Don’t be fooled, though. Carat weight says nothing about the size of a diamond or any other factors that can lead to beauty.
COLOR
Color, in this instance, actually refers to the absence of color. The purest diamond is crystal clear. We use the D-to-Z color-grading system to establish diamond color value. Some colors, such as red or blue, can add to the rarity of a diamond.
CLARITY
Clarity describes whether a diamond contains any portion that is not fully crystallized, and under what power magnification that portion is noticeable. This ranges from immediately noticeable (13) to unable to be seen under 10x power magnification (flawless).
CUT
Cut refers to two parts of the diamond. The first is the shape (round, princess, pear, oval, marquise, cushion, asscher, etc.). The second is how well the diamond is cut, which includes how symmetrical the diamond is and how well it is polished.
While these qualities describe the rarity of a diamond—they don’t tell the whole story. What makes a diamond truly rare is the love story you decide to tell with it.
JOURNEY
A “journey” design features several gemstones in a line or curve, gradually getting larger. This design symbolizes your unique journey together and your love, which grows with every step of that journey.

DIAMONDS
Natural diamonds symbolize your love. They are just like your relationship: Beautiful, rare, and exquisite. And just like your love, a diamond is forever.

There’s nothing more magical than fallen snow—so why not embrace the winter wonderland when planning your engagement photos? Showcase your sparkling “ice” at one of these beautiful, world-renowned locations all over California for an unforgettable engagement photography session covered in white.
Surrounded by the Sierra wilderness, Yosemite offers awe-inspiring landscapes from waterfalls to towering rock formations. And winter is an ideal season to capture unique photographs of Yosemite’s landmarks without tourists getting in the shot. Catch the setting sun as it strikes Bridalveil Fall or El Capitan for gorgeous golden hour photos. Make sure to hit Tunnel View, as you can catch the dramatic vistas of Yosemite Valley with Half Dome centered in the view at almost any time of day. Don’t be afraid to venture off the beaten path and explore. The untapped beauty of Mariposa County goes far beyond the Park’s boundary!
With its crystal clear water, big boulders, and snow-capped mountain backdrop, there are countless locations in Lake Tahoe to take breathtaking photos during winter. While ski resorts may be packed, some of the best spots along the shore can be completely deserted during the winter season. Cave Rock is an easy, short climb up from a nearby parking area for one of the best sunset vantage points on the lake. Another gem, Emerald Bay, is probably one of the most well-known and photographed spots in Lake Tahoe. Located on the southwestern corner of the lake off Highway 89, pull off to the side of the road at one of the turnouts for stunning portraits.
When it comes to capturing winter’s majestic beauty, no place compares to Mammoth in California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains. With a thick blanket of pure-white snow, winter is the ideal time to capture and share epic photos. For a gorgeous view of the mountains, try Benton Crossing Road. Off of scenic Highway 395, this road is one of the few spots that line up perfectly with the backdrop of the Sierra Mountains. In the early mornings, the sun rises and illuminates the peaks in an ethereal glow.

LOVE AS PURE AS
We all long for a love as pure as gold… ...and the purest gold is 24 karats (kt).
Gold is a soft metal and needs to be alloyed (mixed) with other metals to make it strong enough to craft into jewelry. That’s why jewelry is usually only made with 10 kt, 14 kt, or 18 kt gold.
14 kt means that 14 out of 24 parts are gold...but what about the other 10 parts? Does it matter?
Of course. If your jewelry is alloyed with nickel and you’re allergic, it can cause a rash. But if platinum or palladium—which are also rare metals—are used, not only will your jewelry rise in value, but in durability and longevity as well. For a love as pure as gold, look no further than Rogers. Stop by one of our stores or visit us online at thinkrogers.com to see more gold jewelry pieces.
IS NEW WHAT'S OLD
YOUR GUIDE TO REPAIRING & RECREATING VINTAGE JEWELRY
Antique jewelry holds decades of memories, family history, and sentimental value. Whether it’s your grandmother’s wedding ring or your great-grandfather’s wristwatch, these heirlooms have stories to tell—and by keeping them in the family, you’re keeping them alive. But you may find yourself not wearing these cherished pieces as often as you’d like because they either don’t fit, don’t match your style, or need repairs. Rogers’ designers and craftsmen can help you bring your vintage pieces new life by restyling, refreshing, or renewing them for you using our state of the art computer-aided design (CAD) technology.
YOUR CUSTOM VINTAGEINSPIRED PIECE
At Rogers, we can build a ring completely from scratch or turn your old jewelry into something new.
Design Director, David Kirk says, “Everybody has jewelry that they don’t wear anymore. When you take all of those pieces and those diamonds and put them into something new, it not only saves you money because you don’t have to buy the diamonds— sometimes they’re the most special pieces, because they have all of those memories in that new piece.” He’s helped hundreds of people recreate their old pieces, from slightly updating heirloom pieces to give them a more modern look while keeping their vintage integrity to creating completely new, custom designed pieces using stones from family jewelry.
“What’s really cool about taking those inherited pieces and putting them into something new,” says David, “Is that every time you look at it, you think about your mom, and your grandma, and your grandfather, and all those memories they had in their life are all right there for you to enjoy.”
1. We sit down with you and figure out what kind of design you’d like for your new piece.
2. We take precise measurements of every stone and digitally render them using our Computer-Aided Design software.
1 2 3
3. Our in-house designer creates the unique piece of jewelry you envisioned using your own diamonds and gemstones.
“When my mother passed away in 2018, I inherited several pieces of diamond jewelry from her including her wedding rings.
My husband mentioned to me that Rogers did custom jewelry and that Dave Kirk, the designer, was going to be in the store for one of their special events. I met with Dave and gave him an idea of what I wanted. He created a beautiful pendant using my mother's diamonds. I wear it often and I cannot tell you how many compliments I have received. It is a one of a kind piece, made with my mother's diamonds so it is very special to me.
I am sure that there are many like me who don't know what to do with jewelry they have inherited or want a unique piece to reflect their personality. They just need to know that Rogers Jewelry can make that happen.”

A LEGACY OF GIVING
We wouldn’t be in the business of helping people give if we weren’t giving, too. Since 1937, Rogers has been sharing special occasions with our customers—whom we’ve grown to call our friends and neighbors—and giving back to the community. Today, over 80 years later, we’re proud to continue doing both. Here are just some of the organizations we have sponsored this year:
WHY WE DON’T SELL
LAB GROWN DIAMONDS
We believe in the wonder of natural diamonds, whose unique properties have fascinated men and women for centuries, and have made them a brilliant symbol of heartfelt emotions and commitment to one another.
Modern technology has made it possible to manufacture something similar: a lab-grown diamond. Although lab grown diamonds have comparable properties, their crystal structure is fundamentally different from a natural diamond’s. And when it comes to value, there’s nothing comparable to natural diamonds. Because lab grown diamonds can be mass produced, their value is rapidly declining. The supply of natural diamonds, on the other hand, is finite—and each one is completely unique.
If you’re looking for a good substitute for Cubic Zirconia or Moissanite, lab grown diamonds are a great choice. But if you’re looking for something that will last a lifetime, and be valued from generation to generation, then the answer is a natural diamond.

JEWELRY CARE
KEEP YOUR JEWELRY SPARKLING FOR GENERATIONS TO COME
PROFESSIONAL MAINTENANCE
Just like anything you use every day, your jewelry needs regular maintenance. It may be hard to keep up, but just remember: whenever you get your oil changed, you need to stop by the jewelry store and get your jewelry cleaned and checked. We recommend jewelry maintenance at least every 6 months. And we always offer this ser vice for free!
CLEANING YOUR JEWELRY AT HOME
When cleaning your jewelry at home, stick to lukewarm water, mild dish soap, and an extremely soft brush to brush away dirt and grime. As a reminder for the softer stones like pearls, emeralds, and opals, use a soft cloth with no treatments as they can discolor or otherwise harm the stone.
WHEN TRAVELING
Avoid chlorine or saltwater damage by removing all jewelry before going in the hot tub, swimming pool, or ocean.
Remove all jewelry before applying sunscreen and tanning oil, which can get caught in crevices and coat your jewelry, dulling the look of your gemstones or diamonds.
Store all jewelry in a clean, dr y place.
If you’re staying in a hotel, make sure to keep your jewelry in a safe when you’re not wearing it.
If you’re traveling with an engagement ring, a pricey watch, or another priceless piece of jewelry, make sure to insure it in case it gets lost, stolen, or damaged.
SOFTER GEMSTONES
For the softer gemstones like pearls and opals, remember the rule: “Last on, first off.” Meaning, if you’re going to an event, put them on last, after your makeup hairspray—these can cause discoloration or damage to these gemstones. And take them off first when you get home.
INSURANCE
Be sure to have your jewelry insured through a homeowners policy or renters insurance. There is nothing worse than damaging or losing a beautiful piece of jewelry and not being able to replace it.
If you have any questions, please ask a professional. You can get in touch with us at: thinkrogers.com/contact-us or call your local Rogers Jewelry Co.
