I want to refer to research done by other people on the same topic in college. Managing so many submissions is difficult. I cant remember who did I lend my money to. Let me share the process I followed in this project with everyone. I want to search about a particular student.

He prefers working at night .He wants to see what his seniors have done so far in systems design. He does not like visiting the library time and again.

He is unaware of any research done in the college previously on his interdesign project topic, he has no clue as to how he should structure his research. He is really confused and the faculty asks him to dig in the library, which he finds very cumbersome.

Stays in the hostel most of the time. She is unable to keep a track of her borrowings and lending’s to college people. She has to be told by someone about the course updates and assignments .

Due to an urgent work at home he had to go back to his hometown. He is regretting of missing a course taken by a visiting faculty.

She is looking for an internship. She wants some information regarding the design house and wants to find out if someone in the college has already interned in that design house.

Problem Solving Metaphors

The very basic of user experience is its layers. According to jesse james garrett user experience is constructed with 5 dependent layers of experience . These 5 layers are well known as The Five Planes.

The Strategy Plane

This strategy incorporates not only what the people using the design want to get out of it but what the users want to get out of the design solution as well. Maintaining a student database Referring to presentations and tutorials Projects-discussions-feadbacks Discussions on extra curricular activities Notices, meetings, discussions Minimizing download Institute Library and archive search

The Scope Plane

The structure defines the way in which the various features and functions of the design solution are interrelated together and theses features and functions determine the scope of the site. Read/write/download/print information Discussion/feedback/comments on projects or tutorials Discussion on latest topics Scope of sorting information by the desired field Job/placement board Digital polls/interviews/surveys

The Structure Plane

The structure would define how users got to know about a particular information and what all can they do with the information when they were finished there. Data base management system Tables and charts (back end) Easy flow of information and navigation Providing with the maximum alternative options Student committee/council content.

The Skeleton Plane

Beneath that surface is the skeleton of the site: the placement of buttons, tabs, photos, and blocks of text the data flow and information processes .The skeleton is designed to optimize the arrangement of these elements for maximum effect and efficiency Access as both producer and consumer of content Live projects Interaction board Placement cell interaction board The linkages and the data flow is to be planned in a way such that there is interaction between Faculty-Students Students-Students Students-Administartion

The Surface Plane

The basic look and feel of the design . The basic look and feel of the design will be made according to an average trend analysis of the students in the college who are going to be the major users of the design solution. The Basic Look and feel of the interface is decided after trend analysis taking the college as a sample area .

What Educational Content. Course Details. Important happenings in the college. Immediate action content Moderate action content.

Where Inside and outside the physical boundaries of the campus. Between the communication loops of people concerned with college. Between administration and students (the major gap).

How

By private information flow. Making the entire college resources available in a fraction or together. Activating the lazy departments of the college w.r.t. Information and communication. Making the student feel to be proud part of the college.

Tools Used

To figure out the look and feel of the interface. It is necessary to do a present trend analysis Data flow diagrams will help in setting the flow for the user and what type and how much of information is given at a particular time. Card sorting will help in grouping the similar objects together in a parent or a mother group. After exploding a parent group it becomes easy to understand the possible links that should come under that mother link.

Trend Analysis For look and feel of the portal

Explanation for the trend Unlike paper, a monitor is a light-emitting device that radiates light energy directly (rather than indirectly) to the reader’s eyes. Every photon transmitted through a monitor reduces the life of the monitor. Using darker color schemes will prolong the lifespan of the equipment. Many say that pure white screens are harder on their eyes than pure black screens.

However the screen ergonomics say that black text on white background is less stressful. Therefore the interface should leave it to the user do decide as to have a white background or black, which can be changed from settings option in the interface.
