Fergus Keane III, PGA
President of the NEAA
Golf Club
Can you share your journey in the golf profession so far?
My journey in golf has been extremely enjoyable, consistently challenging, and has always provided room for growth and development. Throughout my career, I have worked at the NEPGA, Blue Hill Country Club, Plymouth Country Club, and Boston Golf Club.
What initially drew you to pursue a career in golf?
During my time as an intern for the New England PGA, I had the opportunity to meet many PGA Professionals in the NEPGA Section and was always fascinated by how much they supported the Junior Tour. Additionally, growing up in Marshfield and developing a passion for golf, I always looked up to my local PGA Professionals Charlie Lanzetta, James Antonelli, and Mike Sullivan.
What do you find most fulfilling about being an Assistant Golf Professional?
The most rewarding aspect of being an Assistant Golf Professional is introducing individuals to the game of golf. Golf offers many different avenues of enjoyment—the game itself, competition with others, the friendships it fosters, respect for nature and the elements, a deeper understanding of the swing, course architecture, and so much more. Welcoming someone into the golf community and helping them either enjoy the game or improve their skills is incredibly fulfilling.
