Ever since the first cowboys saddled up for the Corn Palace Stampede Rodeo in 1971, this cultural tradition has lived large, attracting thousands of fans each year. Hosted at the world-famous Corn Palace from which it gets its name, it features an array of impressive rodeo events such as bronco riding, steer wrestling, and bull riding. Besides the rodeo contests, the festival includes a parade, a chili cook-off, and for young challengers, the mutton busting competition.
Dakota Discovery Museum cherishes the history of the Great Plains and supports the artistry and culture of South Dakota. In addition to the lifelike museum and historic village, which depicts the simple life of frontier voyagers and townsfolk, the artist galleries at Dakota Discovery Museum illuminate the treasured past with striking artwork from artists new and old. Members get unlimited free access to the museum, and free or discount admission to many quality programs.
