Institute of Technology

Nescot is proud to be a part of a new Institute of Technology for the Coast to Capital

Led by Chichester College Group (CCG), the C2C consortium includes Nescot and the universities of Sussex and Brighton.

An initial £13 million of funding will enhance higher level skills training, with a new stateof-the-art hub and specialist satellites for delivery at locations across the region.

The investment will create new cuttingedge facilities for higher level technical training with a focus on digital and sustainable technologies across a number of sectors including engineering and construction.

Institutes of Technology (IoTs) are unique collaborations between existing further education colleges, universities, and leading employers.

Employers can be confident that people studying at an IoT are gaining the skills needed now and in the future.

Through our partnerships, we are embracing new technologies, pedagogies and research, which are shared across the Institute of Technology Network.

Julie Kapsalis, acting Principal and Chief Executive at Nescot, said:

“We are delighted to be working in collaboration with partners to develop the future of STEM education.

Institutes of Technology inspire people of all ages to challenge themselves and invest in their skills. Nescot’s expertise and values fit perfectly with the IoT ethos and it’s very exciting to be part of this successful regional project.”

Introduction

Nescot is proud to work with employers of all sizes, recruiting and training around 300 apprentices every year.

As part of our service, our team will support you through the process of hiring an apprentice or upskilling your current team members. This includes accessing relevant funding and ensuring the application and sign-up stage is completed accurately and as easily as possible!

Whether you have employed apprentices before or if this is a new step for your business, we will be there every step of the way to give the best current advice and support.

As an Apprenticeship employer in England, you will use the Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS). This allows you to control how you advertise apprentice vacancies, access applicable funding, pay for training if necessary, and manage your apprentices’ recruitment and progress.

This step-by-step guide is designed to help you set up and make the most of your Digital Apprenticeship Service account.

Before starting your registration, please ensure you have the following information to hand –

A valid email address

Government Gateway login if you are an apprenticeship levy payer with an annual pay bill of £3 million

PAYE scheme reference number for your business (also known as ERN) and your Account Office Reference Number (AORN) if you are not an apprenticeship Levy payer and have an annual pay bill of less than £3 million

Authorisation from your organisation to accept the employer agreement online

If your business does not have any current employees, please register as an employer with HMRC to receive the PAYE scheme reference number. Register as an employer - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

Important information effective from March 2023

A new way for employers to sign into central government services.

In Spring 2023 we are updating the way employers sign into their Apprenticeship Service account.

Employers will need a GOV.UK One Login to access their Apprenticeship Service account. When signing into the Apprenticeship Service, employers will be automatically redirected to either create a GOV.UK One Login, or, if they already have one, sign in using their existing details.

Employers must use the same email address that is registered to their Apprenticeship Service account when creating or signing in to their GOV.UK One Login.

Employers will be prompted to create, or log in to, a GOV.UK One Login account once this update is live.

How to register an account

If you have been in touch with Nescot already and given authorisation, we will send you an invitation to create a Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS) account by email. It will show that Nescot has invited you to create an account. To proceed, you will need your PAYE scheme and Accounts office reference numbers to continue (AORN). Then click on the link at the top of the email.

Complete the form and keep a secure record of your log-in information

3 You will receive an email from the portal to verify your identity. You will need to enter the code and click continue. If you did not receive the email, check your junk folder, and if necessary try again.

How to register an account continued

Add details of your PAYE scheme, following the on-screen instructions. Apprentices are required to be on the PAYE scheme. If you skip this stage now, you will need to complete it before your account is complete, your funding reserved, your advert published or your apprentice confirmed and enrolled on the course. There are different ways of adding your PAYE details.

Once you have done this, you will be asked to check and verify that your PAYE details are correct.

You will then be asked if you want to view your agreement. We suggest you choose ‘YES’.

If you are asked to add details of a training provider, see the next page of this guide for details.

If you don’t have an email from us you can go straight here to set up your account: https://accounts.manageapprenticeships.service.gov.uk/
