Bees need our help

Under threat from insecticides and habitat loss, our magical bee friends are in decline the world over. It's time to show some love to our favourite little pollinators, whether by installing a hive in your garden or on your rooftop or simply by adding more bee-friendly plants to your patch.

The Australian honey bee industry consists of approximately 30k registered beekeepers who own a total of around 668k beehives. Only six percent of registered beekeepers have more than 50 hives and produce 80 per cent of the honey for the food market. The remaining 28k plus are recreational beekeepers and there has been about a 30% increase in the interest of urban beekeeping across Australia and it's continuing to grow.
