Chester From its well-preserved Roman ruins, to the medieval town walls, Victorian civic buildings and the half-timbered splendour of The Rows, this remarkable historic city is as varied as it is vibrant. The city centre offers a lively mix of designer outlets, restaurants, bars, pubs, theatres and hotels, making Chester a ‘must visit’ destination for visitors from around the world. Of course the most famous international visitors were the Romans, who established the city in 75 AD and helped it grow into one of Europe’s most prominent trade and cultural centres. They named it ‘Deva’ after the spirit of the River Dee, which flows through the centre of the city. Nowadays, rather than Roman legions, you’re far more likely to see residents enjoying a stroll along its banks or taking a boat out on its lazy waters for some gentle exercise.
History and Heritage… But it’s not just the variety to be found within the city walls that makes Chester such an attractive proposition. Spend a day enjoying all the fun, flair and finesse of the sport of Kings at the beautiful Chester Racecourse. Or go really wild and spend a day at the famous Chester Zoo, which boasts one of country’s finest collections of flora and fauna from around the world. And just a little further afield, the easily accessible surrounding countryside offers dramatic contrasts between the breathtaking ruggedness of Snowdonia and the gentle, sweeping beauty of the Cheshire plain. Chester, though one of Britain’s most historic cities, is also looking forward to an exciting future thanks to the incredible re-generation work that is currently being undertaken in the ‘Chester Renaissance’ programme.

Upton Dene The attraction is easy to see Set in one of Chester’s most desirable areas, on the edge of green belt land, but only two miles from Chester city centre, Upton Dene represents a very attractive proposition indeed. This attractive proposition is heightened by the fact that Upton Dene will be built on the traditional values of a successful English Garden Village, providing open, green spaces within a residential environment. Garden villages were originally designed to provide well-planned, selfcontained communities surrounded by countryside while containing a balance of residences, agriculture and industry. The Garden Village concept at Upton Dene ensures that tree lined boulevards curve their way through the development, with planted grass verges and areas of open space. The new housing will be built in small community clusters around shared courtyards and traffic calmed streets. Each cluster will have a unique character and style in its architecture, creating a village that will visually delight those living in or visiting the area. The development is also designed with sustainability in mind, so that we are both protecting the environment and keeping energy bills down. This is highlighted by the fact that the spacious houses and apartments in Upton Dene offer desirable living space for many different home-movers. Options have been carefully designed to create the perfect new home for growing families, those wishing to get their first foot on the ladder, or people looking for the ideal space for a long and fulfilling retirement. The careful consideration and planning that has been put into the Upton Dene development ensures that there is something to suit many tastes and lifestyles.

Find your
own space
As one of the country’s largest privately owned housebuilders, our reputation for quality of design, build and service continues to grow. Upton Dene is a good example of everything we stand for. Our team of architects and interior designers have carefully researched the surrounding area to ensure that they capture the character of the locality, while adding qualities that enhance and improve. The properties available range from striking, modern apartments through to more traditionally styled large detached houses. The materials we have used reflect the character of the surrounding area; but also conform to very good eco-homes standards, ensuring that the homes on the development are cost effective to run and have as minimal impact on the environment as possible. The result is a development that, while varied in its style and layout, is consistently high in its quality of build and interior specification, and, almost more importantly, allows people not only their own space, but also room to enjoy their surroundings.

Taking care of where we build We are not only selective about the locations we choose to develop, but also about how we then go about developing them. Wherever we can, we acquire sites with a mature feel, and design around existing trees and features. We invest heavily in additional landscaping and are consistent winners in the Daily Mail ‘Greenleaf’ Awards. Morris was also voted ‘The Green Housebuilder of the Year’ for their proven commitment to building eco friendly, energy efficient homes. We also look to add to the attraction and help the development blend in with its surroundings through the use of materials that are in-keeping with the style and history of the location.

THE SUNDAY TIMES
Taking pride in what we We pride ourselves on combining exceptional build quality, a high specification and outstanding design in every property we build, from apartments to large detached houses. Regardless of what we are building, we work to strict standards and carry out rigorous checks to make sure that we meet your demand for the best. These standards and checks are laid down in a Quality Management Book – a working document that makes it crystal clear to everybody involved in the construction process exactly what is expected of them. To make sure that standards are being met, a representative of the NHBC (National House-Building Council) visits on a regular basis to inspect and assess the quality of the work. And to give you extra peace of mind all our homes are also covered by the NHBC’s 10 year guarantee. In addition, we are proud of the level of service we offer to our customers. Morris was one of only 3 housebuilders (the only one building in the North West) to be awarded a four star rating in a government backed New Homes Customer Satisfaction Survey – the leading industry benchmark. You can be sure that from the very first time you contact us, through to our after sales service, we will do our best to provide you with the assistance you need.
