“After the operation, as I was being moved into the recovery room, I suddenly felt this hot burning sensation on my chest.

Coma teen fights back to recovery A STudENT who was in a coma for a week after being struck down by meningitis has cheated death and made an incredible recovery. david Coppin, from Coventry, was said to be “slipping away” in hospital after collapsing in front of his terrified mum, Lorraine.

The 19-yea r-old’s m i racu lous recovery even brought cheers of joy from the relieved doctors and nurses who worked tirelessly to save him.

And dav id emerged from the coma unscathed.

His mum, Lorraine, believes God kept her son alive.

She asked for the hospital’s duty chaplain to join her and together they “placed david in God’s hands”.

The next morning Lorraine went to church and continued to pray.

Later that day she got the miracle she needed.

Lorraine said: “Even when he began getting better there was a lot of worry because meningitis can cause blindness, brain damage and loss of limbs.

“But we had a whole team of people praying for david day and night and we tried to push away any negative thoughts.

“For him to come out the other end unscathed is a miracle. I still pinch myself everyday. I can’t believe david’s still here.”

BAFFLED DOC CANCELS SURGERY

Joyce Carter was told she had ‘the knee of a 30-year-old’ after returning to her doctor, who just a few weeks earlier told her that her cartilage was worn out after an X-ray.

Her pastor, Colin Marks, of A10 Christian Mission in Hertfordshire, told New Life she no longer has any pain in her knee.

He said: “The doctor who examined it said that the bones of the knee joint were rubbing together, and he referred her for an X-ray.

MINISTER: FORGIVE ME A POLITICIAN at the centre of a scandal has said she has asked God for forgiveness for cheating on her hubby.

Iris Robinson – who had an extra-marital affair in 2008 – has resigned from the House of Commons and the Northern Ireland Assembly after the allegations became public last year. But Iris, 60, has apologised for her actions.

Group helps Brown plea to churches tackle debt CHRISTIANS are helping tackle poverty across south-east Hampshire.

Churchgoers want to ease money worries of people in the community by lifting them out of crippling debt and helping them to manage their finances.

Worshippers will offer debt counselling for those struggling w ith money issues, a nd r un courses to help people learn how to balance their budgets.

They’ve joined forces with the national charity Christians Against Poverty (CAP) to offer hope to thousands who struggle to cope.

Churchgoers from Holy Rood Church, Stubbington, are among those who w i l l r u n cou rses across south-east Hampshire.

PRIME Minister Gordon Brown has invited Christians to work alongside the Government in building a better society.

Mr Brown said the public square was not a marketplace t hat cou ld be st r ipped of values.

“I don’t subscribe to the v iew t hat rel ig ion shou ld somehow be tolerated but not encouraged in public life, that you can somehow ask people to leave their faith at the door

when they enter a town hall or a Commons chamber,” he said.

“Churches and the Christian charities have been Britain’s conscience on causes from debt ca ncel lat ion to child poverty, to the good environmental stewardship of the earth, and each of these great recent causes is rooted in the idea that we are each other’s brother and sister’s keeper.”

THE founder of the Street A ngels in itiative has been awarded an MBE. The accolade was presented to Paul Blakey for services to community safety in Halifax.

Pau l fou nded the fa ithbased project just over four years ago. The initiative still has teams of volunteers pa-

The Hollywood star said he had to trust a bigger brother – Jesus – when he agreed to enter the house in the last-ever series of the Channel 4 show.

The 43-year-old said: “For me, going into Big Brother was something I was afraid to do as a Christian. I thought these people are going to tear me apart.

“In my spiritual connection to the Lord, there was never anything that said ‘don’t go’. I just try to be hearing from the Lord as best I can.

“I felt the Lord saying ‘I’m with you’.

For me there are clear indications when something is not right. Then there’s these moments like Celebrity Big Brother when God says, ‘Do you trust me?’”

Baldwin revealed that he believed winner Alex Reid’s openness towards God was genuine – and said that praying with him could be the first step towards faith.

He explained: “Alex asked a bunch of questions and eventually that lead up to me saying to him ‘do you want to know God’.

“He said yes, so he was open to God. Alex Reid might not completely understand everything about all there is to know about Christianity, but it’s not about that, it’s one step at a time.”

Cage fighter Reid was deeply moved when Stephen prayed with him.

In a heart-to-heart chat, Baldwin grabbed Alex’s hand and told him: “God has a plan for you. Hold my hand. He wants to reveal it to you – to show it to you.

Flinching, she responded: “It’s the Bible – wow. It hit me again – it was the Bible. I feel like I’ve been punched in the stomach!”

Baldwin admitted that he was surprised by the reaction of the housemates to the Bible.

Bible bid for Vietnamese VIETNAM – A bid to distribute tens of thousands of Bibles in Vietnam has been launched by the Scottish Bible Society.

There has been a rapid growth in the number of Christians in the country over the years, but a massive shortage of Bibles.

The Scottish Bible Society, along w it h ot he r Bible Soc iet ies, h as funded work in the past 12 years translating the Vietnamese Bible into modern Vietnamese.

The Old Testament has been available since 2004, but work on The New Testament was only completed late last year.

Scottish Bible Society Chief Executive Elaine Duncan said the Scottish Bible Society had launched the appeal to raise funds to print and distribute the revised Bible across Vietnam.

DEVASTATED Haiti is still coming to terms with the massive quake that shook the country to its knees.

But, amid the rubble, it has emerged that Christians in the country have not allowed the destruction of their homes to weaken their faith. Although millions of Haitians are without anywhere to live, many continue to worship God in makeshift churches and on the ruined streets.

Christian organisations have rallied to help the stricken country by supplying food, water and medical aid.

British evangelist Andy Hawthorne, who heads The Message Trust, based in Manchester, recently visited the country that he knew

USA – Two young teachers are leaving their careers behind to pioneer a home for recovering female drug addicts in New York City.

And despite facing new territory, Gemma Till, 28, and Lea-Ann Jones, 25, believe God has been preparing them for the daunting challenge ahead.

The volunteers, who have already given up salaried jobs, will leave their comfort zone of close family and church life in the West Midlands to step into the unknown in Astoria, Queens for a period of up to twoand-a-half years initially.

Gemma told New Life: “It’s no exaggeration to say we are leaving behind our lives. We are saying goodbye to our families, jobs, cars and even our mobile phones!

“It’s also very new to both of us as we have no personal experience of the drugs scene from any angle.”

Churches rally to send support to survivors Hope on air BLACK churches across the UK have responded generously with money to help support survivors of the Haitian earthquake.

The New Testament Church of God (NTCG), one of Britain’s largest black denominations, put a call out to their 138 churches to raise funds for Haiti.

The church expects to collect at least £15,000, which

will be sent to their international headquarters Church of God (COG) in Cleveland, America, and channelled to Haiti.

Meanwhile, UK-based Assemblies of God World Ministries has raised more than £90,000 after it appealed to leaders of its churches to ask congregations to donate to its Incare Appeal for Haiti fund.

GHANA – Hundreds of thousands of people in two areas of Ghana have access to local Christian broadcasts for the first time.

THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD FOR RINGO THE Beatles legend Ringo Starr says he has found God after taking what he described as a decades-long search for enlightenment.

The reformed rock legend, who turns 70 in July, admitted he had lost his way first as a Beatle, then later after the group broke up.

He experimented with LSD and marijuana when he was a Beatle in the 1960s, then later in the 1970s suffered alcohol and cocaine problems.

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, the drummer, who is now teetotal and has quit his 60-a-day cigarette habit, said that religion was one of the most important aspects in his life.

“I feel the older I get, the more I’m learning to handle life. Being on this quest for a long time, it’s all about finding yourself.

“For me, God is in my life. I don’t hide from that... I think the search has been on since the ’60s.

“I stepped off the path there for many years and found my way [back] onto it, thank God.” NEW LIFE COMMENT: There is a world NEW LIFE of difference between “becoming religious” and finding peace with God and a living relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

“I said to one of the nurses that whatever was in the drip, it was working, but she said that it was only saline – she didn’t even know why I was on it, because I’d been taking fluid since I got back from theatre,” said Linda.

“The surgeon was amazed as well, especially when a biopsy result showed that there was no cancer anywhere else. When I told him about my faith, he said to me that there were more things that go on between heaven and earth than we know. I just kept saying thank you to Jesus.”

A year later, Linda had another trauma to face – the threat of bone cancer.

She said: “I damaged my leg and when I was x-rayed, something showed up on my spine. I said to God, ‘You’re not going to cure me of cancer one year and give it me back another, so I’m claiming your healing in the name of Jesus, and by your stripes we are healed.’”

One night, two days before her bone scan, Linda felt the same sensation she had felt after her operation.

“I was asleep when I suddenly woke to a feeling – this burning, red hot feeling all over,” she said. “Then I remembered I’d had this feeling before – in the recovery room after my surgery.

“Two days later, the bone scan came back perfectly clear. The shadow on my spine had gone.”

Now signed off from the doctors and free from tablets, Linda is continually thankful for what God has done.

She said: “God’s so fantastic. I’m a walking miracle! I could go on for hours about all the things the Lord has done for me!”

The Baptist Men’s Movement has revealed it is planning special curr y n ights across the UK next year afaf ter a trial scheme was s uc h a s uccess l a st month.

They a r e e ncou ra g i n g churches of all denominadenomina tions to join them in offering men the chance to talk about

faith and build up friendships. And they hope Christian fellas will take their mates with them so they can get a flavour for the faith over a vindaloo with a second The Bigger Balti evening.

BMM president Phil Creighton said: “We want to show that Christian men don’t have two heads and are ordinary people.

“Some men don’t like church as it’s just not appealing. Events such as The Bigger Balti allow them to put on something that suits them and encourages men to get involved. It’s a great idea for fellowship.”

In February hundreds of men across the country met for a dopiaza and debate, and BMM organisers hope next year’s The Bigger

Balti will be even more successful.

The movement is also encouraging churches to screen World Cup games as part of The Bigger Match initiative. BMM leaders believe that the family friendly atmosphere will encourage sporting spirit without the need to head for pubs.

And they are praying that another initiative – The Bigger Breakfast – in September will beat last year’s attendance when 3,500 men across the UK tucked into a fry up.

“We think that men matter,” said Phil. “By creating spaces for them to meet up, it means they can build friendships, encourage each other and pray for each other.”

FORMER Tory minister Jonathan Aitken spoke recently about how he discovered God while in jail.

The Slough Conservative Association hosted the ‘Fall From Grace – Into Grace’ talk where visitors quizzed him about his seven-month prison sentence.

The ex-Minister of State for Defence had a high flying career which came tumbling down after he lied under oath in a libel action.

The 66-year-old, who pleaded guilty to charges of perjury in 1999, said: “I refer to the spiritual dimen-

sion to my prison journey. I often give talks about prison reform based on my personal experiences.”

The talk from Mr Aitken, who has advised the Government on prison issues, was organised by practicing Christian and Tory parliamentary hopeful Cllr Diana Coad.

She said: “Jonathan is one of the most charismatic, interesting and knowledgeable speakers I have heard, and his faith is now formidable.”

Money was raised during the event for Aitken Christian Services which helps prisoners and ex-prisoners.

CHURCH WITHOUT WALLS Most people think of a church as a building with a steeple.

But now a former addict has shown that it’s all about people, and she has set up a congregation for the homeless and people considered “outcasts” by society.

Becky Barlow finds out more

L

OUD music echoing around the centre of Birmingham on a Thursday evening may seem nothing unusual as the city boasts a vibrant night life.

But the music of the Freedom from Addiction Church rises from the praises of more than 100 people who are addicts, alcoholics, the homeless and those considered outcasts by society.

Sally Livingstone runs the church, and she understands the ‘congregation’ because she was once an addict herself.

Sally overcame a horrific childhood of abuse and subsequent drug addiction when she became a Christian almost 12 years ago.

And the church on the street is not her only ministry – Sally is also the founder and director of Livingstone House, a Christian detox unit and drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre in the city.

Sally was born in the 50s with a physical disability, which means she can only walk short distances, so her first six years were spent in an orthopaedic hospital run by nuns. It was here that a young Sally first heard about Jesus.

The mum-of-four remembered: “Because I was in there and had no visitors, a bornagain Christian lady, started visiting me and she introduced me to Jesus. I was allowed out at weekends and she would take me to a Pentecostal church on a Sunday. She became like a mother to me.”

But when Sally’s real mother came back into her life, her nightmare began.

horrific “One day, this very scruffy Irish lady came to the hospital and just signed me out – that was my birth mother.

“Even though I wasn’t in an ideal place, it was the only home I had ever known. The hospital was clean, I was loved and I didn’t know violence,” she recalled.

“But suddenly I was taken ‘home’ on a bus, to the backdrop of the Birmingham slums in the early 60s, into a sordid, violent world.

“There was horrific violence and sexual abuse. I was beaten regularly and tortured by my father. He would think nothing of putting my head in the gas oven and hanging me upside down on door hooks for hours, taunting me, saying, ‘Where’s your Jesus now – see if he will save you!’”

The abuse was so bad that years later it was likened to that dished out by the infamous Fred and Rosemary West. Sally tried to escape but couldn’t get away.

She said: “I kept running away and the police would find me covered in bite marks,

belt marks and all sorts, but in those days it was a case of trying to keep the family together, so I was always sent home.

“Mum would say my brothers and sisters had beaten me up and that I was lying.”

Sally was eventually taken into an open air school at the age of 12 after it was realised she was indeed being abused. Not long afterwards, her father was stabbed to death by a neighbour.

“I was so relieved that he couldn’t hurt me or beat me again,” she said.

Desperate to escape her past, Sally went to live with her grandmother in Ireland.

But her life spiralled into a cycle of drink and crime.

By the time Sally was 17, she was serving her first prison sentence and was an alcoholic.

And it didn’t take long for a teenage Sally to be seduced by the criminal underworld that thrived in Ireland during the 70s.

he said: “I was an alcoholic, I took speed, smoked weed and I ran around with all sorts of characters.” But Sally’s life was about to get much worse.

“I was 36 when I was introduced to

heroin,” she said. “One day I was trying to get some speed and I couldn’t get any so I did heroin instead.

“I thought I could control it like I felt I was controlling the amphetamines, but I was controlling nothing in my walls of denial.

“At this point I had lost all control over my drinking and using and the only one who did not know that was me. From the moment I took the heroin, I couldn’t stop.”

Her third son, Vianney, was born addicted to heroin in 1988, but two years later Sally knew she had to get clean.

Sally got herself into a 12-step recovery programme and moved back to Birmingham. Here she met a new partner and her fourth child Jamie was born, but the relationship was violent and Sally knew she had to get out.

She said: “I went into a women’s refuge.

I started to attend meetings and decided to do a detox from the methadone.”

At around this time, Sally’s thoughts turned to God. “I kept putting the God Channel on TV and hearing people talking about no matter what mess you were in, come to Jesus. I’d have it on every day,” she said.

hEroiN “I used heroin for about two years and hit rock bottom like you wouldn’t believe,” she said. “I remember looking at my Vianney’s beautiful little face one day and thinking, ‘I can’t go on like this any more. Addiction has robbed me of everything but it’s not having my child.’

“I knew if I carried on like this he would be taken into care. I had hit my mental, physical and spiritual rock bottom. So I decided to do something about it – I prayed for the first time in years, ‘God, I’ve lost touch with you, but I know you’re there, because

used to go to AA conventions and steal the Gideon Bibles from the hotel rooms.

Why, I did not know, but over the years the Bibles began to pile up in the corner of my room.

Sally read a passage in the Bible one day while watching a Christian TV channel. It was then she started her journey of faith.

“I felt that God was talking to me personally. I found a church where I felt at

home,” she remembered. “I started going to church. I went to Alpha, Focus and started Bible college.”

Sally started going on to the streets to share her story with the addicts, alcoholics and people living on the fringe of society, and it was from this that the treatment centre was set up in 1999.

Sally opened the doors of her two-bedroom house and let the addicts in. It was a huge step of faith.

She said: “Suddenly we found we had ten addicts and alcoholics from the streets living with us, all clean and sober and trying to learn how to address their illness of addiction and live a productive Christian life.

God provided all our needs and provided a building.

dEtox “Today we have the first Christian 12step detox unit and treatment centre in the country – Livingstone House. Of those who complete the course, 81 per cent remain clean and 61 per cent remain committed to Christ.”

And at a church conference in 2008, Sally’s vision for the church on the street

was born. I remember so clearly standing in one of our Freedom from Addiction meetings when I felt something in my spirit,” she said.

“On my return to Birmingham I had a yearning to go down to the city where all the down-and-outs hang about and start a church – in the middle of the street, in the middle of the city.”

Now 21 months later, the church is thriving.

ally added: “People are giving their lives to Jesus and responding to the prayer and worship. To see them kneeling at the cross of Jesus is amazing.”

Sally is now an accomplished and published writer and an international speaker on addiction within the Christian world.

She continues to offer hope to the lost and broken.

Fresh bid to prove Bible does matter Christians have united to dispel the notion that the Bible is tedious.

And they have also spread the message that God’s Word remains as transformative as ever in today’s world.

The BibleFresh movement has been launched by more than 50 organ isations, including the Evangelical Alliance, Scripture Union and the Bible Society, to boost the confidence churches have in the Scriptures th roughout 2011, the 400th anniversary of the King James version of the Bible.

The movement is bei ng introduced to the nation by a 13-city tour that got underway in Glasgow last month. Tour stops include Belfast, Manchester, Liverpool, Bournemouth and London.

A MUM told by doctors that her son would be unable to walk has revealed how he defied medical experts.

Davina Cairns said that she k new somet h i ng was w rong when son Andy was born with a strange cry.

And although she was left questioning her beliefs, Davina kept faith and watched a miracle unfold when Andy started to walk.

Andy was born four weeks premature in November 1983 and weighed just 4lb 3oz. Davina was later told he would be unable to walk and would effectively be left in a vegetative state.

Davina explained: “He had this weird cry – it sounded like a kitten. The hospital said it was because his vocal cords weren’t developed properly because he was early.”

But Davina, 48, and her husband, Brian, were still worried about their son.

The mum-of-three said “He had trouble feeding and all he would do was cry. When he was three months old, our GP sent us to the hospital because he kept going blue.”

It was then that the Cairns were given the news that Andy had Cri du Chat (cry of a cat) syndrome “It means part of his chromosome five is missing,” said Davina. “It’s very rare – one in 100,000.

“The doctors ex pla i ned it would affect him developmentally and that he had enlarged muscles of the heart. They told us he’d be a cabbage – that he wou ld n’t be able to do a nything.”

Davina was devastated and started to question her Christian

faith. “I found it really hard,” she said. “I kept saying, ‘Why us?’ but Brian would simply answer, ‘Why not us? Bad things happen to good people.’”

So the Cairns turned to their church family at Life Church Christian Centre in Bedworth, Warks.

Davina said: “We’ve always taken him to church from being very young and having the support from church has really helped. He loves going to church and he loves worship.

“The church at Bedworth has been really good with him.”

And Andy stunned doctors when he learned to walk.

Davina said: “He learnt to walk when he was seven and now goes to a day centre where

“He was toilet trained by the age of nine and uses Makaton to communicate. His understanding is very good and he’s quite a friendly character.”

Andy was discharged by his heart specialist and by the time he was 20 he was discharged by his last specialist.

“He’s not been healed completely but he’s got a quality of life that we were told he’d never have,” said Davina.

A nd on June 28 last year, Andy was baptised.

Davina added: “It was great.

Andy organised what he wanted for his baptism. He knew exactly what he wanted. Andy loves Jesus with all his heart and enjoys going to church.”

BREAST cancer has been the focus of a storyline in Coronation Street recently with Sally Webster’s battle against the disease.

And in the same household, there has been another storyline of her daughter, Sophie’s, Christian faith.

Although just a soap, it mirrors everyday life. Linda Whalley is testament to that, as she was told the terrible news.

It may seem unrealistic to some, but she kept her faith and held on to the promise that God can heal if we trust him.

Some people may think it seems cruel that God allows some to suffer. But it isn’t God who causes suffering, it’s the evil that stems from the sin of mankind.

Jesus said that if we repent and trust him, his death on the cross purchased forgiveness for our sins.

Doctors had to operate on both her knees, removing cartilage and tendons that had been worn almost into oblivion by a decade of workouts, training and racing.

But Klassen wasn’t stressed by the less than perfect conditions in the run up to the games.

She said: “I rely heavily on my faith in God. I know it’s in his hands. All that’s required from me is to give it my best every time I train or race.” to those who know the record-holding

We all pray, but is it for right things?

Whether you are a Christian or not there will have been a time in your life when you will have said: “Oh God, please help me,” and that is most definitely a prayer. the trouble is that too often we see God as some great vending machine in the sky – put in the right coin, or say the right sort of prayer, and you’ll get what you ask for by express delivery.

Unfortunately it doesn’t work like that because what we may believe to be exactly the right thing for us is often seen quite differently by God. Very often he says “no” because he knows that what we are asking for is bad for us either in the short, middle or long term!

And that’s why it’s important that we make sure we hear from him because, believe it or not, God wants to talk with his children on earth very much indeed.

A very fine Christian preacher and author of many year’s standing – David Wilkerson – puts it like this: ‘he talks to the Father about us and delights in our childlike trust’.

David wrote a Christian classic called the Cross and the Switchblade and blesses many through his daily devotionals which he sends world wide from his New York church. he is a man well worth listening to. he says: “I am convinced that his greatest need is to h ave one -to - one com mu n icat ion with those he left here on earth. No angel in heaven can meet that need. Jesus wants to talk with us.

“Where did I get such a notion that Christ is lonely and has a desperate need to speak?”

“It’s in the Bible where we read about two disciples who are on the road to emmaus.

“Jesus drew near to them and ultimately explained everything in the Scriptures to them. the result was that they were overjoyed and ran miles to find the other disciples to tell them what had happened.”

Its absolutely no different with us. God wants to speak to us and explain his plans for us, but too often we are so busy demanding this and that we aren’t listening.

If our ears are really open we can hear 100 times a day from God through our conscience, prayer or reading the Bible.

Sadly, all too often because we haven’t given him time to talk we blame him when it all goes wrong. But it’s not his fault, so my tip this month is LISteN FOr GOD – he’S DeSPerAte tO tALK tO YOU.

Speed skating champ Cindy Klassen says she only got to this year’s Winter Olympics because it was all in God’s hands.

Klassen – who became the first Canadian to win five medals in one Olympics in 2006 – says Jesus is the most important thing in her life. having grown up in a Christian family she says that faith in God has always been there.

“God is part of all of my life – including skating. he has given me this talent and it is all about using it for his glory – in competition and training doing it for him. Jesus is everything to me. I cannot get through one day without him.

LISTENING “I was so aware of his love for me and that he died on the cross for me. he is my shepherd and I am grateful to him for everything.”

And prayer is vital to Klassen. “Prayer is talking to God and listening to him. that’s

so important,” the 30-year-old said.

And Klassen is multi-talented when it comes to sport.

In 1994, she represented Canada at Lacrosse and came close to making the Canadian ice hockey team for the 1998 Olympics.

In 2002, she entered the Olympics as a speed skater, and in 2006, arguably the most successful point of her career, she was the star of the show in turin, where she picked up a gold, two silvers and two bronze medals.

Klassen revealed a personal crisis in 2008, when her sister Lisa was involved in a near-fatal road accident.

She said: “Our whole family just felt like God was lifting us up. It’s just great to see how prayer works.”

In an interview with the times, she revealed she would pray after a battle with cancer.

She said: “My husband and I go to church every week with the kids. I do think in your darkest moments you pray to God to keep you alive.”

We prayed as shots were fired MANCHESTER CITY striker Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed that the Togo national team began to cry out to God to save them when their team bus was shot at before the African Nations Cup. Speaking after the ordeal – which saw the team driver shot dead and five others, including two players, wounded – a horrified Adebayor said: “They shot at us for 30 minutes – all we could do was pray to God we’d live.”

The squad was ambushed by rebels on their way from their Congo training ground to their African Nations Cup base in host country Angola.

Adebayor, pictured, said: “We’ve seen one of our team-mates have a bullet in his body, who is crying, who is losing consciousness. We’ve seen death.

“It’s one of the worst things I have ever been through.

“I never thought I'd ever live through an experience like that. All we had to do was to pray to God to save you. I think that is what he has done quite well.

“I don’t know if I am the target or not, all I know is that my team – my country – was the target. Why, I don’t know.”

Adebayor’s Christian beliefs will no doubt have been a huge comfort to him since the attack. Last year, we reported how the former Arsenal striker couldn’t walk for the first four years of his life, until he was taken to church by his mum where he received a healing miracle.

Speaking of his faith, the Togo skipper said: “Everything I do in life I put in the hands of God, my creator.

I remember the freakish incidents for me to get here and the manner in which it happened.
