IN THIS ISSUE... Will Power Workshop - May 15

Urban Peak By Kent Ingram - Page 2

On average, a person works more than 40 years accumulating assets, spends ten years conserving them, but spends less than two hours planning for what happens after death. Dying without a will that conveys your wishes — for care of your children or distribution of your assets — can cause emotional and financial chaos for those left behind. So can becoming seriously ill or incapacitated without appropriate authorization to permit someone else to manage your financial affairs or your end-of -life care. Regardless of your age or your wealth, these burdens can be eased with proper estate planning. You are all invited to attend the Will Power Workshop on Sunday, May 15 starting with lunch in The Parlor at 12:00 pm. There is no cost to you for the workshop or the lunch. The Will Power Workshop will get you started with your estate planning. It will cover topics such as: Taking care of your loved ones after your death; being a good steward of your assets in life and in death; planning your legacy and becoming one of the 30% of the population who have a will or other estate planning tool. The workshop will also offer information about trusts and other important documents such as an advance directive, financial power of attorney, and

healthcare power of attorney. We will provide you with some ideas on how you could provide for the future of the church. Each participant will get a workbook entitled “Planning Your Legacy: A Christian Guide to Planning Your Will and Trust.” Mr. Dale Levy, Director of Planned Giving at the Rocky Mountain United Methodist Foundation, and Alan Agee, local Estate Planning Attorney, will lead the workshop. There will be time for questions and answers at the seminar and an opportunity to sign up for a free 30-minute “ask any question” phone conversation to be scheduled at a later time with Mr. Agee or another attorney. We will also provide you with a list of other local estate planning resources. Please register for the workshop! Don’t miss the opportunity to start the invaluable process of planning your legacy.
