At The New School for Social Research, students take full advantage of the school’s location in one of the world’s hubs of scholarship and culture, New York City. The city offers a dazzling array of academic resources, including universities, cultural institutions, libraries, nongovernmental organizations, and the United Nations, as well as vibrant public and private sectors offering research and employment opportunities. Students engage with the rich intellectual, cultural, and political life of New York City in a variety of ways that enhance their academic experience at The New School. With an international reputation and a campus in the heart of Manhattan, The New School for Social Research attracts the world’s most prominent scholars as visitors and guest speakers. As a member of the Inter-University Doctoral Consortium (IUDC), The New School for Social Research offers doctoral students the opportunity to take specialized courses and interact with scholars at Columbia University, CUNY Graduate Center, Fordham University, New York University, Princeton University, Rutgers University, and Stony Brook University. Students who study at The New School for Social Research can do more than earn a graduate degree; they have the opportunity to draw knowledge from many aspects of life in New York City and to influence and shape the future of both the city and the world.
