WHAT’S WADDLING DIVISION 19 NORTH! Thank you to everyone that was able to attend our Region 8 November Division Council Meeting/Thanksgiving Potluck. It makes me so happy to see some members consistently attending division and region events despite their distance. Congratulations to everyone recognized for our monthly awards, every individual or group was definitely deserving of recognition! On that note, I am grateful to announce that Conclave 2019 is really soon! Hopefully all of you can come to South Gate Park to witness the next Division 19 North Lieutenant Governor be elected by our outstanding delegates. Working with these candidates since Candidate Training Conference in November has been a pleasure. I am more than confident that whoever is elected will do an amazing job to lead all of you in the following term! Although our division’s future will be decided this weekend, more events are on the way this term! Rose Float Decorations is Saturday, December 28th! This event is not only with Region 8 but with the rest of the California-Nevada-Hawaii District as well! We are fortunate that the Kiwanis Family has graciously invited us, Division 19 North, to go help decorate parade floats used during the Rose Parade on January 1st. Please join me, and other Lieutenant Governors, in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity only available to Key Club. To finish up this letter, here are some updates to our division goals! As per the Division Monthly Report Form submitted on December 10th, 2019, Division 19 North has earned 4,128 service hours and raised more than $1,400 for the Pediatric Trauma Program, still not including the funds raised from our spirit gear. This numbers, although not the highest we have seen, are still breathtaking! Each and everyone of you can rest knowing a difference is being made in your home, school, community, and planet. That concludes my short update for this newsletter! Keep up the amazing work until my departure in March at District Convention in Reno, Nevada. Additionally, I cannot wait to see all of you at our December Division Council Meeting at Del Aire Park on the 29th, which is the same day as our next ice skating fundraiser!

WADDLING FOR SERVICE,

ANDREW YANG

Division 19 North Lieutenant Governor 19’-20’

Fall Rally South Travis Salud CAMS | Co-Vice President On November 9, CAMS Key Club, along with other schools in Division 19 North, attended Fall Rally South at Six Flags Magic Mountain. After taking the bus from Gardena Elks Lodge at around 6:30am, we arrived at around 8:00am. Once members entered the park, members went on rides, participated in spirit battles, and met members from different divisions throughout the park until 12:00pm. Members then attended the Session 3 at 1:00pm. Division 19 North unfortunately did not win the spirit stick for the session, but made it to round 3. After the session, members had more time to have fun at the park until around 8:00pm when CAMS Key Club left Six Flags Magic Mountain. Overall, Fall Rally South was a great experience!

EVENT RECAP EVENT RECAP EVENT RECAP Hawthorne Memorial BBQ Melissa Felix HMSA | Historian On the 17th of October from 4:30 - 7:30 pm, HMSA Key Club participated in a dinner BBQ at Hawthorne Memorial. We first helped by making salads and loading them onto a rolling cart. We also helped in serving people their salads. Some helped serve people either beverages or salads. When we were done passing out salads and drinks, we served them their food after they gave us their tickets. When we finished, we were also given food. We ended the night by helping clean up after the BBQ ended!

HMSA | Historian

On November 15, 2019, from 7:30 am to 8:15 am, HMSA Key Club held a canned food drive! We had students line up in the morning and come donate cans! Students received the opportunity to come to school in free dress if they brought 10 cans to donate. We checked for their expiration dates and sorted them into boxes. We had hundreds of cans donated and lots of help from our fellow members!

Hello Division 19 North! For the month of November our club prepared for Fall Rally South by continuing to attend division spirit sessions, eight members from our club were able to attend the last spirit session on Friday November 8th. On Saturday, November 9th we were able to bring 30 members from our club to our district’s biggest events of the term; Fall Rally South 2019. For many this was their first Fall Rally and they not only had fun but got to see what Key Club is all about! Additionally, on Saturday November 23rd, two members from our club attended a service event at the New Challenge Fresh Food Bank in Torrance where they organized donations to be sent out to families in need.

SANTA MONICA Co-Vice President | Danielle Lopez

Ahoy penguins! For the month of November, Santa Monica High School’s Key Club organized numerous events for service and fundraising. In the beginning of the month, on November 8th, our spirit committee chairs attended the mandatory spirit session to practice cheers and meet other members in our division! The following day, on November 9th, we attended our favorite event of the year, Fall Rally South! We had so much fun making new friends and showed our newest club members the pride and spirit of Key Club. Then on November 17th, we held a bake sale in which over 15 members attended. We raised over $300 for PTP by handing out our members’ freshly baked goods!

14 | CLUB RECAP

LAWNDALE President | Shannon Sukantri

For the month of November, we had a meeting on November 4th to talk about Fall Rally! We practiced the cheers and informed them about the spirit session on November 8th. At the spirit session, everyone practiced all of the cheers and made sure that they got their spirit packs! On November 9th, the day of Fall Rally, we had a lot of fun meeting so many divisions, going on the rides, and of course, the Spirit Rally! Although we didn’t win the spirit stick, seeing everyone cheer and scream with so much spirit for their division made this year’s Fall Rally an amazing, memorable experience! Then, on November 16th we had the Nothin’ But Sand Beach Cleanup at Dockweiler Beach! We had 9 people attend this event and we helped clean the beach by picking up trash! Lastly on November 23, we had the PB Science Service event, where we packed science kits for elementary schools, and we had 4 people attend!

During the month of November Leuzinger Key Club members volunteered at two community service events and a few attended Fall Rally South. The first event was the Leuzinger Manhattan Beach Cleanup on the 23rd, where three members woke up bright and early to remove trash and other hazardous material from the beach. While there members interacted with CSU Dominguez Hills students there on a photography assignment and were more than happy to participate in their photography. On the 26th eleven of our members took a few hours from their Thanksgiving Break to come to school and assist with the beautification efforts.

16 | CLUB RECAP

HAWTHORNE

President | Eduardo Barajas

For the month of November Hawthorne did fairly well as a club. To start off the month we held a Dog Toy Making and club spirit day on the 2nd at Del Aire Park. We made over 75 toys for animals from old t-shirts and practiced our divisions cheers for Fall Rally South. Our school also attended the final two spirit days held the 3rd and the 8th in preparation for FRS. While at the spirit prep days we also supported our divisions 7leaves fundraiser that was running all week long. FRS was a blast this year and we had 11 people attend from Hawthorne. Although we tried and cheered very loudly, we congratulated the Ninjas on their spirit stick win! From there we attended an event at the Gardena Willows Wetland Reserve to help with the removal of invasive plants the 16th where we removed grape vines from a willow tree. The before and after of the work done in those few hours was a sight to be seen! The final event that hawthorne attended this month was the Region 8 potluck on the 30th at South Gate Park. We got to meet key clubbers from our region also have our DCM for the month.
