It has been a pleasure serving as the News Editor for the 2019-20 term! From learning what "Graphic Standards" were to spending nights with my eyes glued to my laptop screen, serving as your news editor has brought me incredible experiences that I definitely did not foresee as a freshman.. but here I am, writing my last message to you as the division news editor for the ending term :) I encourage you to step outside your "boundaries" and to challenge yourself in Key Club. Push yourself to attend as many service events as you can and to befriend as many people as possible. Who knows? You may stumble across countless learning experiences, many close friendships, and several lifelong passions, just as I did. Once again, I thank you for allowing me to serve as your Division News Editor for this past term and for helping to make this term an icy one. To all the editors, thank you for continuing to work hard on your articles and visuals! For those going on to college, I wish you luck for the road ahead! As for the rest of you guys, I hope you all continue to make the best out of your Key Club journeys while they still unfold. Thank you.

02 | LETTER FROM THE LTG
WHAT’S WADDLING PIRATE PENGUINS!
What a term. My last year of Key Club has been the most memorable all thanks to this division. I have dreaded this day, the day where I have to write my final goodbye letter to everyone. Going back to my freshman year, I never really expected to become Lieutenant Governor. It was simply a goal I looked forward to three years later. It is crazy to think that I, Andrew Yang, had the opportunity to serve the Division 19 North Pirate Penguins as their Lieutenant Governor for the 2019-2020 term. I attribute all of my past successes to you, Division 19 North. Thank you for everything. Thank you for the relaxing Division Council Meetings. Thank you for the dedicated members. Thank you for an amazing Division Leadership Team. Thank you for everything. Goodbyes are always the hardest thing for me. What do I say to someone for the last time? So instead I say this. Division 19 North Key Club, I will miss every part of you once I am away. My high school career will be over soon, so will my journey with Key Club. I will always look back at those once-in-a-lifetime memories you all gifted me. But our story does not end here. The underclassmen that I graciously met before will become officers one day. They will continue to be successful and move past my failures. Lieutenant Governor Ryan will continue to be successful and move past my failures. I will continue to be successful and move past my failures. I don't like goodbyes. So this isn’t a goodbye. It is a "keep doing your thing" type of message. I will always be one call, text, or DM away to help you. Thank you.
WARM REGARDS,
ANDREW YANG
Division 19 North Lieutenant Governor 19’-20’

On December 27th, Lawndale Key Club went to the PB Science service event in Inglewood. We helped pack lesson materials make science kits for students in elementary schools. For this month, we packed materials that would help students make musical instruments, learn about fossils, and understand how magnets worked. Some of us worked on cutting cardboard boxes and putting rubber bands into small bags for the instruments. While others were working on wrapping wires and packing batteries and putting nails into small bags to make magnets. By the end of the event, there were 125 science kits! We had fun at this event and can’t wait to go next month!
Conclave Session Ryan Son CAMS | Co-Vice President CAMS Key Club appointed two delegates to be our representatives at the Region Conclave on December 22. We chose Celeste Gastelum, our current Secretary, and Angela Francisco, a dedicated general member. Our specifically supported all three representatives from CAMS Key Club. They were Ryan Son, Cathleen Uy, and Sarah Blosser. We were able to witness Ryan and Cathleen moving onto the nomination conference, and then from there, Ryan winning the position of Lieutenant Governor. We are confident that Ryan will do great things for the division and extremely proud of him. We also got to see the new elects for the other divisions in our region, Javier, Luisa, Anran, and Vyanh.Â

Our volunteers had so much fun meeting up with their friends from Region 8 and working with them too!

For the month of December, CAMS Key Club attended numerous service and division events. On December 22, CAMS Key Club appointed two delegates to vote on our division’s next Lieutenant Governor at Region 8 Conclave! It was a really great experience for members both new and old to see how the election process works. Several CAMS Key Club members also attended the Operation Jack Marathon where we were awarded an amount of money for having a certain number of volunteers. We also attended the Rose Floats which most of our District was invited to attend. We held numerous services and shifts such as helping with vials, sweeping, scaffolding, and helping prepare roses. CAMS Key Club was also awarded club of the month and had the Division’s Member of the Month, Damian Romualdo.

Greetings! For the month of January, HMSA Key Club had minimal events offered to our Key Club members, nonetheless, we started off with a successful year in terms of members’ attendance and participation during weekly meetings. We have been truly grateful to all of our active key club members that have committed to going to our weekly meetings, and those who have been very active with going to volunteer events. So far, we have had 4 meetings at HMSA, in which we have been receiving at least 30 members that have been present. In those meetings, our KeyClub webmaster, Sergio Morales, conducted an HMSA MarioKart 2020 tournament that gained great attention from all of our members, and so far we have two weeks till the winner is announced in the month of February. This tournament took place after our KC meeting ended, and so most members stayed a little longer to take part of it, or to just watch their peers play. Moreover, some of the events we have taken part of are: the first DCM in January and the Super bowl Marathon, in which we helped set up the marathon. In addition, HMSA key club is in the process of getting our own HMSA Key Club Windbreakers, from which we plan on selling and offering to our members. As a result. Though we didn’t take part of many events in the month of January, we are pretty excited to plan out and take part of future events for the month of February and so forth. As of now, we are getting prepared for the 2020 key club officer position nominations, and we are eager to see who our future board members will be, for the betterment and success of HMSA Key Club.

During the month of January, Leuzinger Key Club participated in one community event. On January 20th, 2020, nine members attended our Manhattan Beach Clean-Up. At the event our members fit their gloves and grabbed their trash bags and began picking up trash. Our members undertook the task of beautifying the beach from 9am to 12pm.

HAWTHORNE President | Eduardo Barajas
For the month January Hawthorne was relatively inactive in terms of service but has worked on the club itself. We only attended one service event in the month of January and that was the Gardena Willows Event at a Wetlands preserve in gardena where we helped pick out non native plants that were harming the native plants. We also had a member attend the Winter Smashdown / Gamenight in Lomita where a Smash Bros. Tournament was held along with other games for the division to bond. We then attended the DCM/ Movie night with Green Monkey where we watched the live action version of Aladdin after the DCM. We focused a bit more on how we can try to get member attendance up and came up with a monthly raffle that would take place at our meetings where members earned tickets from things like service events and participation. In the raffle they can win a little goodie bag that has been themed based on the month the raffle takes place. We are also working on trying to hold our own events more often so members from Hawthorne don't have to travel as far. We are also currently trying to find new fundraiser ideas like bowling.
SANTA MONICA
15 | CLUB RECAP
Vice President | Danielle Lopez
Ahoy pirate penguins! In the month of January, Santa Monica High School’s Key Club prepared for elections and DCON. Our board met with our advisor, Michael Flinkman to discuss transportation and funding for our trip to Nevada and we sorted out our forms as well. That following weekend on the 26th, we organized a bake sale with a Valentine’s Day theme to raise money for PTP. We raised around $300 and had so much fun getting to know our members, playing music, and selling baked goods! To end the month, on the 30th, we held a general meeting where we explained each officer position as far as responsibilities and requirements. We announced that elections will be held on February 13th and we took our club picture for the school yearbook. Despite our lack of service this month, Santa Monica has a lot planned for the future!
