Club Rush Written by: Division 19 North Social Media Coord. Rita Nguyen What is Club Rush? Club Rush is a day where each high schools presents all their clubs and organizations in hope of gaining members , this includes Key Club! Use this time to, educate others and plant the seeds of service! Use these tips and tricks to make the most of the school’s club rush and to lead to a successful term. You do not have to use all of these tips but they are here as a reference to help. Keep in mind that each school has a different set of rules and guidelines and to make sure to review your schools before using any tips that you're unsure. ADVERTISEMENT

SPIRIT -Make sure your board and current members are all decked out in key club gear like Division Shirts, bandanas, bags etc. - Don’t be afraid to start a division cheer or let everyone know exactly “how you feel.” -Being spirited will draw attention and bring bigger crowds, which means more potential members! -Make small cards or flyers with information on the club you serves meeting times and pass them out to people! In the past some clubs have also made clothes pins with key club slogans and pinned them on people walking by but we recommend not doing that without a person's consent since it may cause problems.

-Have members or officers wear signs that say “Ask me how I feel!” Or “Ask me about Key Club!” around the day of club rush. This will make people interested and want to learn more while promoting the organization. -When anybody asks about key club make sure to let them know that Key Club International is the oldest, largest, and most successful non-profit organization for high school students and if they want to know more they're going to have to attend your booth! -Put up flyers or posters around with information about key club or about the club you serve and details on meetings. Make sure to consult with your school administration before doing this!

BOOTH 

  

Decorate your table/ booth with everything key club related! Photo albums, informational flyers, brochures and more will help people understand exactly what key club is. Many schools use an Instagram board as something unique and creative. If you do, make sure to add #bestofd19n on the caption and tag us on Instagram! When students come by to the booth, have candy or snacks to pass out and engage in conversation and educate others on key club and its benefits. Doing an icebreaker will not only get students to interact with current members, but will also create a large crowd and attract more people

THE ELIMINATE PROJECT

In many countries, deliveries take place in unhygienic circumstances, putting innocent mothers and their newborn babies at risk of getting diseases. One of the diseases they can get is MNT.

MNT stands for maternal/neonatal tetanus. It has been the most common lethal consequence of unclean deliveries and umbilical cord practices. MNT can easily be prevented by immunizing mothers with tetanus vaccine and/or by hygienic deliveries.

Pediatric Trauma Program The Pediatric Trauma Program (PTP) was established in 1994 to decrease the amount of seriously injured or killed children due to traumatic and unintentional injuries. PTP provides funding to train pediatric doctors, nurses, first responders, and special equipment.

How do I help? We support Pediatric Trauma Program (PTP) by developing local projects which will reduce the number of children, who are killed or injured by trauma. One of the major events we do, whose profit goes to PTP is Fall Rally! When you make a contribution to PTP, you provide grants to Kiwanis and their partner hospitals, allowing them to help more children in more communities.

Reggie Hughes

Reggie Hughes has certainly got our attention for the month of July! He has worked hard with nature at Gardena Wet Willows, fixed up some blankets at our DCM, and directed visitors at Midsummer Scream! His dedication to Key Club has really shown throughout the summer and we are proud to have him be our Member of the Month. Reggie’s commitment will certainly serve as a inspiration for any upcoming members. His friendliness and humor has easily allowed him to find good friends through this club. We are all excited to see his progression in Key Club as the new school year rolls by.

Da Vinci

Epati Scanlan Service never stops. This is especially true for Epati. Even though the school year has ended, Epati has not let that stop him from serving. He has participated in a few volunteering events this summer and also provides new volunteering events for the club as well. Epati is always the first to show interest or sign up for volunteering events and it really shows his enthusiasm to serve. Additionally, throughout the school year, he always attends the weekly meetings and is constantly signing up to volunteer. Therefore, we are proud to present Epati as Member of the Month for the month of July!

Gardena Mariel Catipon Mariel Catipon is the member of the month for July. There is something very distinct about being around Mariel. Whenever you would see her at an event, everybody she serves with always has a smile on their face. She is a very positive role model for many in our key club here in Gardena and always brightens the mood of the board members whenever we are feeling down. She is the person to turn to in a time of need and is one of the most optimistic person in the club. She has put in lots of time into the club during the summer even when she has even more extracurricular activities on her plate. She definitely deserves to be this month’s MOTM.

Ayene Cruz

HMSA

For the month of July, we have chosen Ayene Cruz as our

member of the month. Ayene is our newly appointed spirit leader and a dedicated Key Clubber. Her enthusiasm for Key Club will never fail to disappoint you, and her personality will never fail to surprise you. She has great time management skills, with her being in Key Club, ASB, Newspaper, and balancing academics throughout the school year, she can do it all and still manages to fully dedicate herself in all her extracurriculars. She is someone who does not step down from a challenge, and we know that she will bring the spirit to our Key Club so that we can train our hardest for Fall Rally and win that spirit stick.
