ONTARIO TEACHER CERTIFICATION (BPS)

A Powerful Educational Experience

The curriculum for the teacher certification programs will provide future teachers with extensive practical experience in classroom placements. Opportunities to engage in realworld experiences will support students in learning how to differentiate instruction and tailor teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse students. Primary/junior and intermediate/senior programs are each four semesters long, and take two years to complete. Programs take place in the fall with summers off, or can be condensed to weekend-only format for candidates who hold a bachelor’s degree, and work full-time within a school board as an educational assistant, or education care employee.

Those who teach full-time in a private school, and do not hold certification, are also eligible to apply to the paraprofessional program.
