A Cutting-Edge Curriculum Knowledge, skills, and competencies for advanced practice nursing and FNP specialty care are built across the curriculum. A state-of-the-art simulation center bridges theory with clinical experiential learning. A mixture of general practice precepted clinical experiences and specialty observations are also incorporated into the program. The program, new in 2024, has been approved by the New York State Education Department, and eligible for accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

Students work directly with an advisor to plan a program best suited for their success. Courses are offered weekdays and weekends mixing on-campus, online, and hybrid formats. The program can be com-pleted in two (full time) or three (part time) years.
Federal grant and loan applications are available for students in advanced practice nursing education. Applicants whose undergraduate degree is from NU are invited to apply for a graduate discount. Many employers offer tuition reimbursement benefits as well.
Our graduate nursing faculty members are experienced nurse practitioners and other healthcare specialists who share practical evidence-based current knowledge using contemporary science and technology in the classroom and the clinic.

FAMILY NURSE PRACTITIONER Students in Niagara University’s master’s degree program will have the significant benefit of participating in precepted internships, which introduce them to a variety of settings and provider specialists in the healthcare community while they’re in school, and often lead to employment opportunities after they graduate. Exposure to varied clinical settings enable students to develop an awareness of community resources and seamless healthcare delivery. Furthermore, modules in case management, person-centered care and mental health first aid add to each graduate’s marketability. Family Nurse Practitioners are employed at primary care clinics, general physician practices, outpatient facilities, and general practice facilities in healthcare systems, public health clinics, private practices, and schools, to name just a few.
