What is NUOP?

The Niagara University Opportunity Program (NUOP), through a partnership between the Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program and the New York State Education Department, provides numerous educational opportunities to qualified students with limited financial resources to attend Niagara University.

To ensure equity for all, NUOP offers various academic support and economic scholarships for students with diverse needs who meet eligibility requirements.

Summer Program

Our five-week mandatory program is designed to start you in the right direction, while promoting personal growth and educational achievement for entering freshmen. The program prepares students for classes, college life on campus, career exploration, and social connections through the various services that are available. Students will also have the chance to participate in various activities, like picnics, sports, and community outings.

General Requirements

To qualify, students are required to meet established academic and economic requirements.

Academic Eligibility

• Be a high school graduate or possess a stateapproved equivalency diploma or its equivalent.

• Must meet the economic criteria established by the New York State Education Department. Applicants deemed ineligible may still qualify for financial aid through other admission processes.

• Student’s academic profile, including high school transcript, College Board scores, and academic history indicating that he/she/they is eligible for NUOP.

• GPA Requirements: 76-86 average.

• Students must demonstrate potential for successful completion of the undergraduate program for which he/she/they is applying for.

• Be a resident of New York state for at least one year prior to enrollment.

Financial Eligibility

All NUOP students must provide financial documentation to be reviewed for economic eligibility according to the below guidelines. Students and families are encouraged to contact our office with any questions.
