1. DESIGN RESEARCH The temporal occupation of domestic helper from the south east Asia happens every weekends. The domestic helper conquer the street using the cardboard to define the territory, lean on the handrill or the wall placing the personal goods. The infrastructure is the things which are stable and people can rely on. The basic physical infrastructure they rely on are the street, the wall and the roof. Those public infrasstructure are privatised and get rid of public usage. Moreover the gathering itself is the social infrasturcture. The helpers sitting in the circle and speaking their native language is already the boundary. The social infrastucture is the things stable and the helpers can rely on. The physical infrastructure provides the space and the social infrastructure provides the place. According to this design point, the social infrastructure just occupied the public space and can be moved, extended or folded based on the gathering scale or activities.
FLOOR PATTERN
This is the basic pattern in the floor. The demestic helper put the card board in the street and spread the carpet or other clothing to define the group boundary.

1.1 The Original Meaning Of Infrastructure INFRASTRUCTURE noun. [from Wiki]: the basic physical and organizational structures and facilities (e.g., buildings, roads, and power supplies) needed for the operation of a society or enterprise. originally meaning “The installations that form the basis for any operation or system”. The word was imported from French, where it means subgrade, the native material underneath a constructed pavement or railway. The word is a combination of the Latin prefix “infra”, meaning “below”, and “structure”.

1.2 The Infrastructure Of Domestic Helper Generally, there are two kinds of infrastructure in the occupation of the domestic helper. One is the brought-in goods called the social infrastructure and the other is the found things called the physical infrastructure. The social infrastructure is formed by the social processes and defines the territory, society and microeconomy or socioeconomy. Firstly, the infrastructure in difination of territory is the card bord, carpet, curtain, the things whatever the helpers bring. Also the same location which the same group would go back to find every weekend is another social infrastructure. Secondly, the infrastructure in difination of society is the rituals like the singing, dancing and the praying. Except the rituals, the games involving the player doing the same things is also the other infrastructure. Finally, the infrastructure in difination of microeconomy is the trading and shipping. Trading is for pedlar and consumer inside local microeconmy and shipping is for regional between their hometown and Hong Kong. The physical infrastructure has three main function. Support infrastructure is the street to stand and handrill or wall to lean on. Shelter infrastructure is the roof to protect them from the raining. Sometimes plants which have the shadow also can be the shelter infrastructure. Sanitory infrastructure is the toliet, cultery and anything to avoid the virus spreading. Both social and physical infrastructure have the same purpose. One is the scale purpose, gathering. Gather in the card board, the S scale. Gather in the street, the M scale. Gather in the park or the block, the L scale. Gather in the site, the XL scale. The other is the space pupose, sharing. Sharing the same occupied space as well as the sense of place, the atmosphere.

1.4 Analysis “What if The Infrastructure Disappear The infrastructure the domestic helpers rely on now is not appropriate. The public space they occupied is erased the original function. Once the policy or space forbidden, where they can go? What if the physical infrastruture they found is disappear? On the one hand they need a product to pack every social infrastructure and that product can set up a territory when they use. On the other hand the public space need such initiative space can transfer to the POPS such as plaza, lawn, specific ground floor. 7

2.2 Made For Every Normadic, No Matter You Are A Domestic Helper Or A Traveller For the individual users they only fulfill themselves. Unfold the desk and then sit inside or stand beside.
For the couple or group users, they would want to do something together. You open your table, I open my table and we would have a big table. The different pieces of the suitcase can be connected together.

There are different ways of sitting and different purpose of sitting. The user can push the chair down and sleep when he or she alone. When the users meet together they share the chairs and suitcase space. Also they can change the suitcase to seperate and to have own private space.
The users need the roof to protect the users from the external environment such as raining or sunning. With the folding roof the domestic helper can get rid of the restriction of the specific location(inside the buildings or under the trees)

2.3 Be Your Good Partner When You Want To Move STEP 1 PACKING FIND YOUR TARGET LOCATION The first time point for the suitcase is packing. For the domestic helper they need decide where is their target location, the street, the plaza or the building. Based on different type of destination they can choose the things they pack. For the travelers and other Normadics, the distance of their destination may influence the function of suitcase in the way.
STEP 2 CHANGING SURFACE IN THE WAY OF MOVING
when the user wating
In the way of users the suitcase can be changed into desk or chair for the short time. When the user waiting for the bus or plane, they can drag the folding desk out to eat or drink. In the busy bus or no seat train the desk also can be changed into the chair.
STEP 3 OPENING ARRIVAL in the busy transportation
12
When the users arrive the target place they open the suitcase and the party/holiday is on. Throw everything out and let the suit case transformer join.
STEP 4 TRANSFORMING
The suitcase is transformed into the chair so they no need rely on the public physical infrastructure to rest. Also the suitcase can be transformed into the desk and most of the time there are less desk in the public space. As the above mentioned when the extreme weather the suitcase can be transformed into the shelter which can release the density of the pubilc building.
The overlook of the suitcase occupation. Different group utilize the transformed suitcase to form its own boundary in the public space.

STEP 5 CLOSING
After the occupation of the public space, users pack everything again and move to other place. Go back to the first step.

2.4 In The Public Space When You Seize The Chance To Occupy It S USER WITH THE SUITCASE
The suitcase can be transformed into the chair, table and the roof. In the small scale of the public space, the suitcase can provide the shelter to the user. These suitcase may like the pop-up space in the public view and these pop-up can fulfill themselves instead of relying the public infrastructure.
M SUITCASE IN THE STREET
The transformed suitcase in the street can provide the private space for the user. And with the suitcase the user can occupy along the street and also in the kerb. The more suitcase can form the larger private space which are more appropivate for the micro economy business man.
14
L THE STREET OF THE BLOCK
When more and more suitcase appear in the street they form the whole block. With different activity the users can choose display or not. The roof transformed by the suitcase can also be the wall. The space formed by each suitcase can face the passer-by, the public or face each other connecting together. cad-block.com

XL THE BLOCK OF THE STRICT
Consider the site present situation, the suitcase can be transformed inside the buildings. Thus the suitcase would be seen in the whole strict. Based on the differnt kind of residual public space, the transformed space can be in different shape.

2.5 To Occupy, To Liberate The reason why the suitcase need exist one is set free of the public infrastructure and the other is to turn the still pubilc space to the dynamic place.
There are an avalible public space which the user can extend the suitcase. They can form the single or cross line in the center of the space, also can form the boundary of the space.
After the boundary formed, the users turned the privatise the public space through the suitcase. Inside the new turned POPS (private owned public space) the user can divide into smaller space based on the different activities. The public space become dynamic because of the human action.
As the user want, the suitcase can provide the closed space for them. In public space these private space can present like the box, the cylinder, the sphere whatever the shape you like. In the end after the occupation finished all the things would gone and the public space return to the avalible mood again.

2.6 No More Doghouse, Becoming The Gentleman And Lady In Public View
Based on the human engineering, people have their comfortable view, up 50 to 55 degree and down 70 to 80 degree. In the present situation, the domestic helper all sit in the ground and pedestrain always overlook them. The imapct of this designed suitcase can raise the public view.
The Measure of Man; Human Factors in Design, by Henry Dreyfuss
THE PRESENT SITUATION: The different sight makes the distance between the pedestrain and the domestic helper, the citizens and the abroad working labor, the diversity of the culture.
THE PROPOSAL: The suitcase can put the users and non-users in the same level and the atmosphere of the outdoors gathering would be changed better by replacing the present card board. At least can make the users do not sit in the ground which may be more elegant in the public view.

The mainly scale attribute is the human scale. The suitcase can be carried by the users and also should contain the users. As the suitcase should different scale of the space, there are different scale of the suitcase. 19’’ now is recommended for the one to two days trip and in the design is recommended to the single users. The 19’’ suitcase can only acoomodate one person. 22’’ now is recommended for the two to four days trip which can be used by couple user in this design. 24’’ / 26’’/ 29’’ suitcase are all for the more than a week trip now and in this design all for the group users who want to held the street party or street rituals.
The scale of the chair would be around 600 mm high and the back of the chair can be adjust. The scale of the desk would be 800 to 900 mm high. The scale of the roof / wall is around 1500 to 2000 mm. Strictly speaking the transformed suitcase does not allow the user to stand up.

3.2 Relationship Between Creators and Users
NGO Backstage Support
AGENT Guidence provide
Policy permit
GOVERNMENT
DOMESTIC HELPER For the domestic helper users they may rely on three kind of the creators, the audience or the supportance. First is the government, they are the policy gorverners and most of the time control the docile body as well as the public space can be occupied or not. Second is the domestic helper agent. They are interface. Provide the suggestion to the helpers where they can occupy in the weekends and which size of the suitcase is the most appropritate for them. The NGO always provide the help for those helpers from the economy or the policy.

From the business we can clearly see the outcome like the cost of the raw mateerials, the transportation and income like the profit of the suitcase. The challenge this design face may come from the market and the strategic partners. To popularize in the market, the material of the suitcase need to be tested if it is easy to move, convenient to clean and quickly to fold. Different with the normal suitcase, this one is more like the pop-up oe add-on product for the domestic helper thus before the real design we need to do the interview and the experiment to check their gathering habit and shopping habit. Although there may be more challenge than we imagine, the revenue is also charming. The suitcase may conque the whole Hong Kong domestic helper market. Every helper would own this kind of suitcase. Also you can see the transformed suitcase in the public space, if possible, the sponsors can put their advertisement inside the suitcase then they will got the free and movable advertisement. Trust me! Design this urban device, design this suitcase, design the future.
