Elevation design is based on the principle of road and basic elevation immovable. The elevation in Central Park is fine-tuned to increase the fun and visual effect of walking. The design principle is to balance earthwork.

Pedestrian Circulation Analysis

The overall public transport is on the Southeast side. It is suggested to increase the number of stations on the north side in order to balance the development of the whole region.

Major Pedestrian Spot 2nd Pedestrian Spot Major Pedestrian Entrance Major Pedestrian Route 2nd Pedestrian Route

Considering the symmetry principle of the whole base, the single main route of Central Park is a little monotonous. It is suggested to provide a double main line experience route, and provide different formats and turning points to increase fun.

Site Street

Start with the road design, explore the possibility of space, and how to connect the building and strengthen the connection of the tourists.

5

The red line of the street is based on the natural landscape boundary of the site. Modify the 7-meter road shape to create a vivid and slightly curved road, providing a different space language for the front space of buildings. The different height of the outdoor space makes the park landscape have different spatial language and effective use of underground space, while improving the driving experience and lower speed of the car.

According to the function of the building, we arrange the functions and venues for commercial, sports, leisure, outdoor experience, art and other functions.

Tropical

The design of the second floor bridge effectively connects the building blocks. Allow visitors to travel more directly. It also provide visual add vertical spatial effects.

In the venue, we adjusted the elevation and used the landform to create a wild park experience. At the same time, using the slope of the terrain, we designed a drought-resistant water system to achieve rainwater regulation and microclimate enhancement.

Wetland

Through the change of terrain and visual relationship, we design the circular landscape and provide different plant experiences such as park road, tropical landscape, wet land and flower forest.

We have added organic language lines to find a balance between architecture geometry and natural organic form. We transformed the original canals makes it ecologically to soften the urban interface. The ecological pool and the main scenic tree extended by the canal create a four-season flower island, adding a romantic atmosphere to the plaza and the waterfront restaurant and the commercial pavilion. We located the sunken plaza as the center, with a landscape bridge corridor to connect the underground, the ground and the second floor space, to provide a dynamic three-dimensional experience, cooper. The scene IP is inspired by a tropical canyon. Different corridors, outdoor classrooms, green-covered buildings provide artists, and creative craftmakers share their skills and life concepts. Our users can sign up for different activities and enjoy the life style. The concept of Park Road also provides different outdoor leisure options for whitecollar workers in this area. After raining snails are likely to follow the puddles, but in Guangzhou water may be quickly evaporate. As a result snails stay in the hot and dry tarmac waiting their death.Park especially these natural park should provid both pleasure space to human and habitate space to other creature.

05 RE-IMAGINE THE INDUSTRIAL LANDSCAPE This project focuses on the three non-labour group users: the children, the old and the tourists. The site in the unique condition of being the previous industry zone and now is facing the transformation stage. The success of Hong Kong began with the progress from an entreport to an industrial city which was led by the development of various industries in the Kwun Tong Industrial Area in the 1950s. In the urban transformation process, we analyze the history and development of Kwun Tong area as well as respecting the original industrial culture and integrating the site with “play

FOR THE OLD: read magazine and newspaper for free, watch Cantonese opera under the bridge; FOR CHILDREN: share the kids books together; FOR TOURIST: enjoy local writings and buy souvenirs from street stores opened by locals. HUB B. Learning by sports

The design is 4 hubs, 2 streets and 1 loop. 4 hubs means 4 corners and surrounding people, we add new activities based on the existing buildings and urban context around 4 corners which purpose is to bring people together; 2 streets stand for the various activities, the movements of pedestrains build up streets and different events happen in the street; 1 loop means industry culture in the site, through designing the loop helping and hoping people find culture in Kwun Tong. FOR THE OLD: daily check in traditional way, play Chinese KongFu; FOR CHILDREN: play games, do eye checking through the games; FOR TOURIST: sit down to rest for a while, learn HK traditional culture.

The isomatric view is the representation of the Hoi Yuen road. We want to activate the street by adding the different new activities and give the fresh, proper place spirit to this street. The design strategy applied first is that pick the specific industrial buildings transferring the function like to be the gallery or the clinic; second is that provide the footbridge for the visitors to have the different perspective viewing the site; third is that the new function would add the new transportation tools to the site in order to create the new street system which can lead the visitors explore the post-industry culture of Kwun Tong. 23

06 HONG KONG2, THE STRIP CITY The studio project set up a future what if there are more 7 million population settled in Hong Kong? The city is need to be simplify the pattern which can be summarised as the strip shape. In the phase 1, the group try to find the connection of each district and simulated the rectangle or square to cover the city. In the phase 2, classify each strip function and calculate the present situation. In the phase 3, test and create the morphology of the Hong Kong future. Make the world as Hong Kong cases putting Beijing as the administration strip, Manhattan as the central park strip and so on. In the phase 4, the group calculate and put 7 million citizens inside the strips. In the final phase 5, the group transfer all 2D works to the 3D works and got the density conclusion. This map is the urban morphology map which drags the worldwide city into the Hong Kong to imagine the future of it. Each strip stands for the Ap Lei Chau density around 100,00 population. This project proposed a possible developing plan for the Hong Kong when : the CBD center would moving to the Kowloon, new town would be designed to accomodate more people, the polycentric plan would be replaced by the communtity formation. Compared to the present refill policy the project prefer to develop present mountain which is the open space can be entered.

This capston project is based on my research issue: the publicity of the body. Exploring whether people can maximize their liberation in the public vision, that is, anyone can do whatever they want; in this case, I named the situation urban carnival. In the first step, I have to choose the right site, a place where there are enough people to expose themselves. But in this place they must obey the visible, invisible, spatial, material rules, which may cause the users have the uncomfortable feelings. The street is such a place where people walk, stop, observe and hide. The existing streets in Hong Kong are not enough to meet all the situations of reality. The ideal urban carnival can create an situation to fulfill all the condition of the users.

SECTION B-B 1:400 The footbridge can be designed as the multi-layers

The second step I need to choose the right strategy, my first thought is to change the existing road conditions, like raising the road surface or building the footbridge across the different buildings. Then, during the analysis, I found that I can reorganize the various elements of the street to subvert the user experience. So I figured out all the facilities that can be changed and what can happen in the future.

B

B

HIGHWAY HIGHWAY

C

In the third step, I put the right strategy into the right place to test whether they have reached the subversive effect. The brief of the street should be walkable, stoppable and inclusive. To test the surbversion I remove all the vehicles and design the whole site for the pedestrains. My proposal starts from the smallest facility reorganization and affects each users’ body in the street. The end section of report shows the combination of facilities and pavement deformation to achieve the subversion.

PROPOSED SECTION PA N O R O M A

The narrative of the master plan is expanded by the entrance, once they entered the street they enter another demension of the streetscape. I added the purify design to meet the need of mutiple bodies and permit pedestrains to pass the street quickly or stop in any point of the street. Thus you can see the roller coaster appear in the multi layers bridge and new transportation would come up. Also the street would be turned into the public recorder. CCTV records everything and project into the wall, we walk, we go through, we see, we think.
