Cairn Energy, the company undertaking petrol and gas surveys in the Gulf of Valencia close to the coasts of Ibiza and Formentera, have asked the Ministry of Industry for their survey permits to be cancelled. On Tuesday Alianza Mar Blava and Consell d'Eivissa technicians travelled to the Ministry of the Environment to ascertain the status of the project’s environmental impact statement and it was during the visit that the general director of Environmental Quality and Assesment, Guillermina Yanguas, and the Director of Sustainability of the Coast and the Sea, Pablo Saavedra, explained to the Ibiza representatives that the company had asked the Ministry to cancel the permits first granted in 2010. Representatives of Alianza Mar Blava then met with the Island Consell on Wednesday morning. After the meeting, the president Vicent Serra, said that it is "a great
