Medieval Fair San Antonio The pirates will be descending on San Antonio for the annual medieval fair over the weekend .

The programme of events starts on Thursday 29th and goes through to Sunday 2nd of October.

The action is centred around the fountains on the San Antonio marina front.

On Thursday the market opens at 6pm with the pirate procession at 8pm.

Dance featuring a ballerina starts at 10pm and this is followed by live music at 10.30 and 11.30pm.

Friday to Sunday the events start at 11am and again go on through to midnight.

The craft fair ‘Sa Tardor’ has arrived in Vara de Rey in Ibiza Town. There are 22 stands, many from artisans in Ibiza, selling handicrafts (leather, ceramics, glass, jewelry, wood etc.) and food products (honey, hierbas etc.).

In addition, the Colla de Sa Bodega will have a booth where they demonstrate making traditional Ibizan crafts.

Also in the Vara de Rey are stalls selling food and drinks - a churros stall and the Companatge stall with it’s bargain local cheese, sobrasada and sausages served on a slice bread and a cup of local wine for 1 euro – one of Ibiza’s best bargains and a great way to sample some local produce!

Low cost airline and holiday company Jet2 have extended their 2016 flight schedule through October at most of their UK airports.

Prices on the UK to Ibiza leg are still available at some very low prices. For example we found an 11 day return flight departing Birmingham on the 10th of October and returning from Ibiza on the 21st for a return price of just £72.

Jet2 have taken delivery of their new Boeing 737-800 fleet, and named one of the airplanes Ibiza, in recognition of the Island as one of their key destinations.

‘Ibiza’ landed on the island for the first time on Monday 26th September.

The 737-800 entered service in 1998. The plane seats 162 passengers in a two-class layout, or 189 in one class.

It burns 3,200litres of jet fuel per hour. According to the Airline Monitor, an industry publication, a 737-800 burns 18.5 Litres of fuel per seat per hour, so approximately 46 litres per person on a full flight to Ibiza. News British Man Dies Whilst Swimming at Cala Bassa It is considered most likely the man hit his head on a rock when swimming near caves at Cala Bassa.

San Jose Town Hall have confirmed the death of a 63 year old English National in a tragic swimming accident Friday afternoon.

An emergency call was made to 112 at 17:40h on Friday 23rd September. According to preliminary information gathered, the man was in a boat with some friends and decided to swim to a rocky area located 100 meters from the Cala Bassa beach.

Some time later one of the friends sounded the alarm when he noticed a body floating near the rocks.

Rescuers were dispatched from the beach following the 112 call, and took the man to the beach. Resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful and the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is thought most likely he had hit his head on a rock, rendering him unconscious and subsequently resulting in death by drowning.

Ibiza Rocks; “It’s not about noise, it’s about paperwork”.

Following the temporary suspension of its licence to hold music events, Ibiza Rocks founder and CEO Andy McKay, has issued a statement in which he says the problems that resulted in the action by San Antonio Town Hall are administrative, and will not affect the group’s schedule for 2017.

Andy said, “The current situation is not about noise, it’s about paperwork.

“We have been operating within the legal limits set by the national and European regulations all summer and will continue to do so next summer with our continued weekly event programme.

“Ibiza Rocks Group took over the full lease and management of the hotel on 31st May 2016 and only then became aware that the previous Administration had not updated paperwork following the move of the main stage in 2013, and had not updated the acoustic study to comply with new 2013 acoustic regulations.

Ibicenco Dictionary A life’s work translates 13,400 Ibicenco words to Catalan, Castellano, English, German and French.

It has been commonly accepted that the local language of Ibiza exists only in spoken word however as a result of a true labour of love, Ibicenco is now available in written form.

The multi-lingual dictionary of Ibiza and Formentera was formally presented at San Jose town hall on the 21st September.

Potted Pot; Customs Cops Cut Cannabis Crop Spanish Customs Officers have taken steps to seize a total of 22 Cannabis plants growing in a forest area near to Playa Den Bossa and Ibiza airport, in the municipality of San José.

The Marijuana plants were found being grown in large pots on property that is designated for tourist use.

Petition Submission The petition calling for action to ‘stop aggressive and illegal street sellers in San Antonio’ is to be presented to the town hall on Thursday lunchtime.

The initiative of San Antonio businessman Martin Makepeace is in response to the ongoing problem of tourists being pressured into buying expensive and low quality bracelets and other gift items on the San Antonio promenade.

The petition has gained 2082 supporters and at the time of going to press Martin said he was still waiting to hear if it would be possible to discuss the matter with any members of the current government.

The issue of illegal and unregulated tourist accommodation rentals is perhaps the biggest news story of the year (OK second after Space closing).

The issue of illegal rentals permeates every aspect of life in Ibiza.

The growth in sites such as AirBnB and through them the ease with which ‘easy profits’ can be made by letting accommodation to the tourist sector, has unquestionably resulted in a dramatic decline in accommodation available for longterm rental to supply the needs of Ibiza’s residents and workers.

The knock-on effect of the reduction of supply is that the properties that are still available for long term rentals have seen big increases in prices being asked.

It affects us all in so many ways.

It affects us in any issues of law and order in that the police cannot recruit officers to fill vacancies in Ibiza and state the cost of living as a prime factor.

It affects us in education, in that Ibiza has many teaching positions unfilled and again state that qualified staff do not wish to come to the island due to the high cost of accommodation.

It affects our hosts, the indigenous Ibicenco people, in that their sons and daughters cannot find affordable accommodation.

It affects the businesses of Ibiza who rely upon seasonal workers, evidenced by this year being the first that so many are desperately seeking staff to complete the season.

It affects those who choose to make their homes in what were previously peaceful residential neighbourhoods, that

Inspectors to Carry Out ‘Shock Campaign’ Against Illegal Renters Software application has identified 20,000 illegal tourist beds on single website.

The bespoke software commissioned by the Consell designed to trawl accommodation-letting websites and identify those offering illegal and unregistered tourist lets, has detected 20,000 beds on a single website. The beds are the total of 4,500 properties considered to be probably illegal. (Though the website is unnamed, it can

now find themselves aggravated by the excesses of tourists within their community.

And, according to a meeting this week between tourist associations, consumer affairs and the tax agency, it affects upwards of 50,000 people in Ibiza who do not have what they could describe as a home.

Of course, there are dissenting voices. When posting a brief summary of the Consell’s announcements yesterday, alongside considerable support, there were several people stating the view that property owners should be allowed to do as they please and that the shortage in available property was being overstated.

Even taking these opposing views into account, I feel it is reasonable to assess that a significant majority of Ibiza’s resident population consider the problem has escalated to a level where action is needed.

Certainly the Consell de Ibiza took heed of this public opinion at the beginning of the season. They made very loud noises as to the priority the issue would be given and the resources that would be applied to tackling the issue.

It is with this in mind that I find the statement issued this week that “The Consell considers that, in the circumstances, ‘it is not a bad record’ that 100 disciplinary proceedings have been initiated …” , frankly astonishing.

Whichever side of the issue your own opinions fall, it should be evident from the following two articles that for all their huffing and puffing, the outcome is feeble at best.

Announcing the clampdown on the 16th May, the language is one of Inspectors undertaking a ‘shock campaign’ , and having already identified 20,000 probable illegal beds on a single website.

In the space of only 4 months this fighting talk has been watered down from tens of thousands to 100, and the inspectors shock campaign to a situation where we must understand they have to deal with applications to rename a café too.

Then there is the issue of procedure. It turns out that prosecutions will take up to three years to process. The absolute maximum fine is 40,000€. That means that at a modest 1,000€ weekly rental over a 20 week season, an illegal renter would earn 80,000€ (this year plus 3), twice the maximum fine they ne Hundred Prosecutions is could be imposed.

100 Prosecutions Commenced but Sanctions and Process Ineffective.

Ibiza Consell’s Director of Tourism, Vicent Torres Ferrer has stated that the sanctions applicable to those found guilty of illegally renting in the tourist market, namely fines of 40,000€ maximum, are insufficient in light of the profits that can be made for tourist renting in Ibiza.

He said “the benefits that many individuals and businesses who dare to venture into the path of illegality often far exceed these sanctions”.

In addition, the tourism director lamented the long processing time of proceedings from initial detection of violation through to resolution. “The whole process usually lasts three years between notifications, documentation, reports and other procedures required in these cases.”

He went on to say that if prescribed timescales, which range from one year for minor infringements to three years for the most serious, were not met, the proceedings are deemed to have expired and the whole process must be started again.

The Consell considers that, in the circumstances, ‘it is not a bad record’ that 100 disciplinary proceedings have

been initiated this year from the several thousand alleged illegal rentals detected by the department’s six inspectors.

Highlighting the workload faced by the inspectors, Torres said that their job was not only to ensure the control of illegal tourism, but they must also deal with all proposed reforms of hotels and restaurants on the island.

“Sometimes a business can be renamed three times in one year and all of this has to be dealt with by the inspectors” he said.

Torres went on to advocate changing all of the procedural rules that slow down the processing of prosecutions alongside an increase in the inspection service.

OK, so I’m not blessed in this particular department, but one story from the US has got me feeling grateful that I’m not.

For those girls who like a glass of vino and want to go up a bra size, then this is definitely for you. A new bra that can hold a whole bottle of wine, although it is unlikely to find much favour with bar and pub owners.

A round table meeting has been held between representatives of hoteliers, holiday homes, the tax agency and the department of consumer affairs.

President of the Association of Tourist Accommodation of Ibiza and Formentera (AVAT) Roberto San Estiban, concluded that “there are approximately between 50,000 and 60,000 on the island without a home”.

San Estiban said he thinks these people are sleeping wherever they can. Whether on the sofas of friends, in unused buildings and even rotating beds, it is all a result of pressure from Ibiza’s level of summer tourism.

San Estiban stated that the problem is due to both the negative effect of illegal tourism and unfair competition in the sector. It is not only that properties are let illegally, but also that those doing so do not pay taxes or insurances resulting in hugely lower operating costs and none of the profits remaining in the island economy.

Tax agency administrator for the Pitiuses, Vicente Arbona, went on to say that inspectors are making more checks than ever before since he started with the tax agency in the 90’s. “They have more resources than ever to test the income derived from those leases and have a long four year limitation period,” he said. He went on to warn that they would not stop pursuing fraud

stating, “We have the time, resources and qualified personnel”.

Arbona said that if fraud is confirmed, the person would be required to catch up with tax payments and also pay fines ranging from 50 – 150%. He said that the detection of fraud has been helped by the anonymous denouncing of neighbours, which often results when holiday tenants are causing an annoyance. He said that for tax agency purposes, it is inconsequential whether the income is from properties that are licensed for tourist lets or not, “equal tax is due on income whether it has been earnt from a regulated or non-regulated property”.

Speaking for the hotel federation, Manuel Sendino said he was “radically against the legalisation of tourist apartments” he pointed towards the unfair competition by technology platforms such as AirBnB.

The bra, which is produced by New Jersey retailer BaronBob.com, has proved popular with students during the U.S. state's recent heatwave.

The company is known locally for selling a wide variety of products including edible G-strings. The 'Wine Rack' bra is a successor to the firm's 'Beer Belly' - a similar product for men, which can be worn around the stomach.

This week I’m back in one of my favourites places, stunning Mallorca.

It’s a quick trip to do my radio show on Radio One Mallorca live in the studio, and to stay connected to the Balearics as we enter the autumn/winter season.

So, as Fashion Week leaves London and touches down in Milan, we’re left with a handful of scandal stories. Victoria Beckham is criticised for using super skinny models, plus the bombshell that today’s supermodels are not just gauged on catwalk pouts and fabulous figures, but by how many Instagram followers they have.

The trend was playing out at Milan Fashion Week, which ended on Tuesday, where a small elite of “Instaglammers” ruled the catwalk. Apparently, many casting directors will now only accept models who have more than 10,000 followers.

This new gang is led by sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid, who dominated the shows, ahead of fellow social media favourites Kendall Jenner and Cara Delevigne.

Old school and original nineties supermodel Naomi Campbell 46, walked the Versace catwalk but was eclipsed

by Gigi, 21, who closed the show and boasts 23 million Instagram followers, compared to Naomi’s paltry 3.2 million.

It’s a sad (ish) day for the fashion industry when we realise that it’s not about catwalk models anymore, it’s now about Instagram stars. The higher the number of followers, the more the model earns. It has become more important than their vital statistics, in fact.

Tom Hiddleston Is Gucci's New Campaign Star

Do you know him from The Night Manager, being the next James Bond or for being Taylor Swift’s rebound boyfriend after Calvin Harris? There was a moment when we were a little worried about Tom Hiddleston. Between the widespread mockery of that ‘I Heart T. S.’ vest and a slew of headlines shouting about his dwindling chances of playing James Bond, the actor seemed far from the suave Night Manager we have all got to know.

It seems, though, that Tom has managed to pull off the near impossible and rise from the ashes of Hiddleswift in style, managing to avoid attempting a social media takedown of his ex (as Calvin did) and landing a high profile fashion campaign with the undisputed label of the moment, Gucci.

In his first major fashion gig to date, Hiddleston looks sharp in tailoring from Alessandro Michele’s Cruise ready-to-wear 2017 line, modelling everything from a burgundy threepiece suit to a jazzily patterned jacket and a pair of the brand’s furlined backless loafers. And did I mention the afghan hounds? I like the whole story.

The best Irish bar in San Antonio throws a sweet 16 birthday party like no other.

With it being 16 years since their first pint was poured it truly was a reason to celebrate.

Some of the faces may have changed over the years but I´m sure the ethos of the bar has remained the same, Let’s eat, drink and be Irish. Because we all know the Irish love a drink or two.

The festivities kicked off at 3pm with the very talented Nell Shakespeare starting the musical feast we had in store for the day. Miss Shakespeare started off her set with Lovely Day by Bill Withers and it couldn´t help but get the patron’s jiving and singing along. After some acoustic classics, Nell wowed us all with her unique take of Florence and The Machines You Got The Love.

Having a look around the bar, the place looked amazing, Irish flags, green shamrocks, leprechauns, gold coins, pints of Guinness, even an authentic Irish bar name, pretty much every Irish stereotype you could think of was on show. The famous Irish saying goes “Cead mile failte“ which translates into a “Hundred Thousand Welcomes“ and I think this is the case with Donnegans. Soon as you walk in you’re greeted with a hello and a smile from the friendly staff and made feel right at home. You can´t help but stick around for one more for the road.

While Nell took a well-deserved break the music continued with some home grown Irish songs. U2, Thin Lizzy, The Script, Sinead O Connor, Christy Moore and of course The Dubliners.

Everyone may not have known all the words to the songs but that didn´t stop them from singing along any way. It was at this point the bar staff thought it´d be a good idea to get the first round of baby Guinness out for all involved. For those who aren´t in the know, a baby Guinness is an Irish shot which consists of Tia Maria Baileys. Call in some evening and I´m sure Neill or Danielle will let you sample one on the house.

Next up were the food tastings, Irish stew and Steak and Guinness Pie all homemade, which were delicious and certainly had me wanting more with each mouthful. Next time you’re in Donnegans I´d highly recommend the Steak and Guinness Pie served with mash and mushy peas. It’s certain to fill any hungry belly out there! You won´t be disappointed!!

As the day progressed and the drinks began to flow, the large sunny terrace began to fill up with tourists and workers and there was a fantastic buzz in the air. Next to take to the stage was the extremely talented Paddy Slater. No stranger to Donnegans over the years, Paddy got everyone off their bums and up dancing as the Ibiza sun began to set on this glorious day. Happily to play requests from the crowd (sometimes in return for a Sambuca or two) he played Oasis,

Ed Sheeran and even Ireland’s favorites Aslan.

Straight after Paddy was Donnegans resident Rock God, Roberto Campoli.

Roberto was on hand to bring his smooth blend of pop, rock, 70´s 80´s 90´s indie and everything else in between. Roberto’s distinctive style of songs are amazing to listen to, he really makes the songs his own!

My favorite has to be his version of ´If there´s any justice´ by Lemar. He smashes it!!

With the day well and truly behind us and the terrace full, the music moved into the large indoor bar of Donnegans for the real party to begin. Roberto and Paddy rested and watered, it was time to get the Campoli Experience (Paddy´s choice of name, not mine. I would have gone with Slater and Campoli or maybe Prestige Worldwide) back on stage now playing as a duo, they got everyone up and going once again.

As the night progresses the duo becomes a trio, then a quartet, to just a full on band, being joined by some of San Antonio’s familiar faces. It was open to anyone who could sing or play an instrument, at one point there were 7 people on stage and to be honest it sounded incredible! You would think these people were playing together every day.

Just before the night ended I had a quick chat with Donnegans manager Danielle, I asked how she felt the day went. ´I was delighted with how the day went and I´d like to thank everyone for coming down, celebrating our birthday and having the craic with us! It was such a great day from start to finish. I´m looking forward to next year already´ More of the same is to be expected for Donnegans end of year party in the next few weeks, final dates and details will be announced on Facebook so keep an eye out. It will certainly be a party not to be missed. In the meantime you can see Roberto play at Donnegans every Monday, Wednesday and Fridays and see Paddy Slater on select dates. Science brings back to life an ancient scroll of the Bible.

Researchers have digitally unwrapped an ancient Hebrew scroll that’s so charred it can’t be touched without falling apart. The scroll contains the oldest known Biblical text apart from the Dead Sea Scroll biblical manuscripts. This collaboration of science and the Bible has been widely reported in the media including Science News (the magazine of the society for science and the public) and The Guardian Newspaper. A YouTube by Live Science shows the procedure. Just Google: “En Gedi Scroll YouTube”.

Archaeologists discovered the scroll’s remains in a synagogue’s ark during a 1970 excavation in Israel of En-Gedi, a Jewish community destroyed by fire around 600. But only now has science the knowledge and technology to bring the scroll back to life. Science News says “In a series of digital steps, slices from a 3-D scan of the En-Gedi scroll were analyzed to bring letters and

words into relief on a pieced-together, virtual page.

Those images revealed passages from the book of Leviticus written in ink on the scroll’s disintegrating sheets”.

Live Science says that the radiocarbon dating places the scroll in the third or fourth century A.D, but studies based on historical handwriting place it at either the first or second century A.D. These dates make the En-Gedi scroll slightly younger than the Dead Sea Scroll biblical manuscripts which were written between about 200 B.C. and A.D. 70. But it is nevertheless evidence of a biblical scroll discovered in a holy ark.

Live Science comments that the En-Gedi text is "completely identical" to the text and even the paragraph breaks found in Hebrew Bibles which are known as the Masoretic Text. The Masoretic Text is about 800 years after the En-Gedi scroll and about a 1000 years after the Dead Sea Scroll Manuscripts. Proof indeed, it seems to me, of the amazing dedication of scribes copying manuscripts with immense accuracy for 1000 years to give us a reliable Bible!

Sabina’s Dog Psychology "Master the Leadership"

We adopt a puppy or an adult dog from the breeder or the shelter and we are full of happiness and confidence ... we have found a new friend ... super !!!

We adopt a dog from the shelter and we are convinced to give our future comrade a lot of Love, especially because its past was dramatic and traumatic, but definitely negative... !!! The automatic reaction of us humans is humanly positive, but negative from the point of view of the dog.

People react with sympathy and very often pity, but that does not exist in the animal world.

Out of our compassion, we treat the dog only with Love, but not every dog can tolerate that and very often they are overpowered by our reactions towards them.

That’s when small problems begin to occur, but are not recognized by the owner, that’s when the problems begin to manifest and become even larger.

At this point, the human tries to solve the problem not knowing how and why things go wrong and gets more and more involved in the wrong direction.

This is all about communicating without speaking the same language, therefore already from day 1 of the adoption the dog must be shown where its limitations and boundaries are in his new home and that has to be explained to him which position he has in the new family.

Within the pack the dogs always have a very clear position they are aware of at all times.

This is called discipline … in other words, your dog is asking you for its position in your family and if it is not told where its position is, that’s when problems are occurring.

This means the dog will keep on testing you until its told where its limitations are.

Here is an example of a company you are working for as an employee. When you were employed in the beginning you were explained your function, rank and position in your department you moved to. Without that introduction, you would have failed in your job, because you didn’t know how to fulfil the position you had been given to.

Dear reader, by now you are realising the parallels that exist in each species in the animal world as well as with us humans. Only we humans think too much, rather than reacting with our hearts, gut feelings in other words to respond with our instinct.

We could learn so much from the animals ...

When I mention the term "discipline", the word alone unfortunately has a negative image. But “why” ?

Discipline is positive, without it we could not stand in life,

we could not reach goals neither professionally nor with our family. The word "discipline" is merely a collective term for Leadership - setting boundaries - rules, but also for obedience.

Why do we feel so negative about the word? Because we take it in conjunction with punishment and punishment, of course, is wrong in education.

"Discipline" is a very important part in my psychology, over many years of my experience I learned that unfortunately we humans have lost this instinct over the course of the last Centuries.

But I also realised that one can regain the instinct … !!! Fantastic If you like to relearn this instinct and how to communicate with your dog, then come to one of my seminars planned for next year.

According to popular stereotype, we Brits are obsessed with talking about the weather and the storms over the weekend of the 24th and 25th of September gave us ample opportunity to exercise that most peculiar fascination with just how bad it can get.

Of course the Ibiza weather doesn’t typically allow for much more than ‘God it’s hot’ for the month of August and a very rare freak show of bemused locals when we get an occasional snow.

So for those that love to talk weather, we bring you Ibiza's record weather statistics as published by the Spanish weather agency AEMET. Armed with info on the hottest, coldest, wettest, stormiest (that can’t be a word but spellcheck seems to think it’s ok) you should be able to get a good few natters in hand.

Data The readings are all collected by their weather station at Ibiza airport. The equipment is 6m off the ground, and so

likely to record lower temperatures than may be experienced on the streets in urban areas.

The 19th edition of the DJ Awards takes place at Pacha on Monday October 3 with this year’s theme ‘Let’s Dance’.

20 awards are presented on the night – there are 11 categories that cover all dimensions of electronic music where winners are chosen by the music loving public.

There are also a number of Special Industry Awards that are chosen by a panel of industry insiders.

The winner of the Bedroom DJ competition has already been announced and has been won by Moritz Mello, (pic right) who grew up in Manheim, Germany before

Ibiza Music Video Festival IV

14th and 15th October.

Founded in 2013 by Rupert Bryan and Elizabeth Fear, the IMVF returns for its 4th 2 day event.

A highlight this year will be the Spanish premier of the indie film Blood Orange - shot in its entirety in Ibiza .

Shot with a technical crew made up of island residents and with the UK crew supplied

by SuzCruz - one of the IMVF's award sponsors.

NĂŠo-noir Blood Orange is a taut and quietly tense thriller with a scene stealing turn from music legend and Godfather of Punk Iggy Pop in his first ever lead role. Heading up a strong cast of only four the movie is delivered in style by debut writer/director Toby Tobias.

There will be two screenings of Blood Orange.

On October 14th the film is screening at the Can Jeroni Cinema in San Jose, and followed by a Q & A session with the director afterwards. The film will be in VOSE, i.e. English soundtrack with Spanish subtitles.

On October 15th the movie makes a move to Pikes hotel, and is followed by an after party with several “illustrious guests� including Sam Woods of Shazam.

The IMVF's schedule for this year’s event includes a repeat visit from the Young Film Academy with the "Make a video in a day" workshop, plus two new workshops A) Making a spot - from the creative idea to the final product.

B) Basic acting techniques—with Tamer Hassan a well known British actor.

Space Closing Party Live

Space is closing its doors in Playa d’en Bossa for good after its closing party on October 2, but you’d have to be lost in Space not to know that.

Advance tickets have been hard to get hold of, but there will be more available on the door on the day.

However, the good news is that if you can’t get a ticket or make it to Ibiza for this historic event, Ibiza Sonica Radio will be broadcasting the event live, starting at the beginning of the night.

They will be broadcasting simultaneously from all 6 areas of the club. The live streams are starting from 16.30. https://ibizasonica.com Ed - If you are in Ibiza and without a ticket, the advice is 'don't panic', and certainly do not jump to buy tout tickets at the crazy prices we are seeing.

There will be tickets available on the door, but best you get there damn early - our advice is to think January Sale bargain hunter, very, very, early.

Otherwise you have the stream. Look, nobody is saying it is going to be 'the Space Closing experience'. But if you can't get in, or just don't fancy trying, find yourself a good party bar streaming the event, with enough people to make a good atmos, and who knows - close your eyes and you might be happy you are not a human sardine.

Many in Ibiza’s clubbing community will have been watching the Fabric fiasco unfurl with a feeling that it all sounds a bit ‘Ibiza’.

For some of us, myself included, Fabric was the pre-Ibiza club of choice, so there’s that connection, that feeling of ‘get your dirty hands off’.

I used to do the lights at Fabric, up on the balcony. Well to be more precise it used to entertain me to mess about with them when the bloke who’s job it was had his back turned. I can’t be blamed, just because you let me in V.I.P. it doesn’t mean I’m going to act like one.

Well, it was quite a few years back.

For me at least, it has been a long time. I don’t remember when the smoking ban came in, but the last time I was in Fabric you were still greeted by waves of thick pungent smoke rolling up the stairs as you descended down into its depths.

So faced with more troubles than an Ibiza club with a CafĂŠ Concierto licence, what can we do a thousand miles away?

You now have the chance to do more than change your facebook profile pic.

Over the next week there are two opportunities to get up front and personal, so close to that Fabric feeling you’ll be touching cloth.

We’ve been loving Eden this year. OK they support the newspaper which is very cool of them, but we’ve had enough fun there that there is no need to write this as an advertorial.

The Monday night scouse in the house Mansion has done everything to reinforce the stereotype of being a special breed of party people. If there is an award for hardest working Ibiza newcomers it has to go to Faction, and we have heard the sound of angels at Judgement with our new favourite balancing act Son of 8. It won’t be the most popular choice in Ibiza but my personal club in which I most like the dub has been HYPA (sometimes with a W). If your tastes are more rub than dub they have even unleashed full on fetish by the conveniently named Un-

leashed.

We won’t pretend it is the most talked about closing this weekend, but they sure are going out in style with a line up so long that any other year you’d say it was very long.

Getting their names in the big type are Max Chapman, Kydus, Terry Francis, Apollo 84 & Jamie Roy. But you have to say the small print people ain’t too shabby either, see the full line up on the advert bottom left.

I’m the office Fabric fan so am looking forward to hearing Terry again like a London lover’s hotel weekend—which is lots.

Terry has been at Fabric no less than 18 years. He is quoted as calling their current situation a farce.

Great to see Rory Mac sizzling back to form over the w/end as he bumped off not 1, not 2 but 3 American's as he won the Tour Championship in Atlanta, US of A to claim the Cup and the $1.88 million prize money and by doing so, also won the FedEx bonus of $10 million! Not bad, eh, for somebody who already has it all!

Starting the last round 2 shots behind the leaders, he came in with a 6 under par to force a 3 way play-off with Americans Moore and Chappell which eventually went to the 4th extra hole when a birdie won the title. Brilliant filip for Europe with the Ryder Cup starting on Friday at Hazeltine, USA and under the captaincy of that wily old fox Darren Clarke, (who's looking more and more like Father Christmas!) here's hoping for yet another win for Europe to make it 7 wins out of 8 this century. So good luck to Lee, Rory, Sergio, Henrik, Justin et al, bring it home guys!

Shame of it all for me is that I won't be able to watch it live as our satellite guy (mentioning no names, Paul!) can't install it in the new place until Monday at the earliest!

Exciting for the neutral but bad news for any Tyke or Cider fans but hey, c'est le sport! On another note, it's adios to Division 1 for both Notts and Hampshire and welcome to the party for promoted Essex and Worcestershire (I think!).

Well we'll see on Saturday as they go to Tottenham, now 2nd, as they came out winners at Middlesboro' by 2-1 with a Son brace, while Arsenal in 3rd, at last broke their dismal record of not having beaten Chelsea in the league since 2010 and not only that but not having scored against the Blues in the last 6 league meetings. Good news for Rod, Julian et al then as they really showed they mean business this season as 3 first half goals did it for them. As for Chelsea, now in 8th but only 3 points from 3rd, after such a good start, the defence is letting them down but fortunately JT's back at the w/end so hopefully an improvement.

Everton dropped to 4th as they were surprisingly beaten 1-0 at Bournemouth while Liverpool, 5-0 winners at Anfield over Hull, leapfrogged the Toffees in to 3rd. Jose's Man Utd appear to have put their recent poor form behind them as Pogba scored a debut goal at OT as they won 4-1 with all 4 scored in the first half against champions Leicester who have dropped to 12th after their third loss from 5. Crystal Palace seem to have pulled their socks up as well after beating bottom club Sunderland 3-1 at the Stadium of Light (more like Dark at the moment!) and big problems for new manager David Moyes.

Elsewhere, Stoke took only their 2nd point of the season as they drew 1-1 at home to West Bromwich, for whom manager Tony Pulis (who I had the pleasure of meeting at the Bridge last season and who is a true gent, a football legend and a seriously nice man to boot!) achieved his 1,000th league game as a manager, but big problems for West Ham as they were humbled at their new stadium yet again, this time 3-0 by a rampant Southampton team, to now lie 3rd from the bottom with only 3 points from a possible 18. Finally, Burnley put their recent poor form behind them as they beat Watford 2-0 at home on Sky's MNF. In to Europe again this week in both the Champions and Europa Leagues, as in the former, Man City take on Celtic in Glasgow, Tottenham need to get their European mojo back at CSKA Moscow, Leicester can continue their Europe form with another win against Porto at the KC and Arsenal need to win at home to Basle. In the latter, it's Southampton in Israel against Happel and Man Utd needing to win against FC Z Lugansk (who?) to get back on song.

Finally, in La Liga, top 3 are the same ole, same ole, with Real on top despite only drawing 1-1, Barcelona in 2nd a point behind and Atletico Madrid in 3rd, a further point back.
