The fire that took hold in Port Des Torrent on Tuesday extended to an area of 3.5 hectacres. High winds hampered the efforts of firefighters however they were still able to stabilise the fire in just one and a quarter hours. Due to the smoke caused by the winds, 20 homes and several

News Brit Arrested For Selling Drugs in His Own Hotel
A British man has been arrested after Hotel security staff observed him offering to sell drugs to hotel clients. The arrested man was also residing in the same San Antonio hotel at which he was caught selling the drugs. San Antonio Council issued a statement detailing the arrest, which took place on Sunday 11th June. Security staff in the hotel detained the man when he was seen offering to sell drugs to Hotel guests. Police were called and when they searched the man they found in his possession six bags of cocaine, five tablets of ecstasy and a capsule of ketamine.

Armed Robbery in Marina
Two Gunmen on Motorcycle Robbed High End Clothing Store of Around 5,000€ The National Police are on the hunt for two masked motorcyclists responsible for an armed robbery in Marina Botafoch on Sunday evening.
Able to conceal their identity by their helmets, the two crossed the Port gates and security cameras proceeding to the high end fashion retailer, Philipp Plein. Threatening staff by brandishing their handguns, they absconded with between 4,000 and 5,000 euros in cash, and clothing valued at an additional several thousand euros. The robbery took place at around 7.45pm. Officers of the Unit of Specialised and Violent Crime (UDEV) of the National Police were in attendance to take witness statements the same evening. Their investigations revealed that some people witnessing the crime had tried to intervene, but once on the bike, the pillion rider had raised his pistol aiming towards them. In a report by the diario de ibiza it was said that the security staff at the port and those at the shop decided not to intervene to prevent injuries. The managers of the marina did not want to make statements about this
event, nor did those responsible for the clothing store. The robbery has caused some concern on the marina, with one witness saying to the Diario, "Of course we are worried about what happened yesterday [in reference to Sunday], it was very strong, I have seen the images of the cameras and the truth is that it scares us all a little".
Modus Operandi
Fears are that the robbery could indicate a more violent change in the modus operandi of the crime gangs that are known to work in Ibiza Marina. In the past they have concentrated on the theft of luxury watches from individuals, and though not underrating the fear and danger in such crimes, the use of guns would be an extremely worrying step. The gangs operating in Marina Botafoch are known by police to be part of organised crime gangs based in Napoli, Italy, though there is no direct evidence support a connection between this robbery, and those made by the Italian gangs in past summers.
The Police then took the man to his room, in the same hotel. In the room were 56 bags of cocaine and MDMA, 42 ecstasy pills, a ketamine capsule, a set of precision scales, 2,320€, £840, 192 nitrous oxide capsules, 80 Valium pills and 5 Tramadol. The man acknowledged the drugs, but said they did not belong to him. The man was taken into custody and transferred to the San Antonio barracks of the Civil Guard pending further action.
San Rafael Artisan Market The Thursday Night market in San Rafael moves to a new home this year, now situated in the Church Square and Carrer Narcis Puget. The market runs from June 15th to September 14th (excl August 24th) with Craft Stall, a Flea Market and live musical entertainment. San Antonio Bay: Total Ban on Coastal Access For Cars Cars and other motor vehicles, notably motorhomes and camper vans, will no longer be permitted to access any of the waterfront land from Pouet to Port De Torrent. Pouet is the first area of San Antonio Bay, bordering the Municipality of San Antonio. The ban will apply to all of the ‘informal’ parking areas and coastline tracks from Pouet, through Pinet Playa, Cala De Bou, along past the Residential areas and Kumharas, all the way through to Port Des Torrent. San José mayor, Josep Marí Ribas, said that government officers had confirmed that there is considerable circulation and parking of cars, vans, motor homes and other vehicles along the length of the bay, and that the decision had been taken to close them entirely. Residents & Motorhomes Many of the areas in question are used by residents for park-
ing. Many are ‘officially’ closed by the use of large rocks as barriers, however these often get mysteriously moved after they are put in place. The prime sunset view spots are often occupied by motorhomes and caravans, prompting complaints by some residents who say the problem is getting out of control. “The Coast is for People and Animals, Not Cars” “People and animals must go to the coast, but cars, vans and other vehicles must not be allowed to enter,” the mayor said. Therefore, the City Council will block the exit of the streets that empty into the coast so that, from these roads, you can not reach the shore by car, as now happens. To close these streets will be commissioned a project that could be implemented for the coming summer, but, tentatively, the City Council is planning to perform actions this season that hinder the arrival of vehicles to this stretch of coast. The mayor went on to say that the works would be undertak-
en without delay. “Our intention is to prevent all the road traffic that uses the coast of Cala de Bou, Punta Pinet, Punta Xinxó or Port des Torrent”, said the mayor, who added: “It is an area that has developed without urban planning, and although it is not all land in the public domain, the truth is that these spaces must be free of vehicles. The law says the coast must be accessible, but nowhere does it say that it has to be accessed by car,” he said. “There may be exceptions, because if there is a pumping station or other services, systems will be put in place,” added the mayor. The Sant Josep government team adopted this decision during the usual Monday meeting, but now the administrative procedures will begin to commission the corresponding project, both as a permanent solution and provisional systems for this summer.

News Holiday Rental Scammer Arrested
Man arrested for swindling a family in Formentera A 45-year-old man has been arrested for alleged property fraud relating to a house rental in Formentera, the Guardia Civil have stated. The police investigation began after receiving a complaint from an Italian family who, despite having rented the house and paid 4,150€, the owner then denied them entry and refused to return their money. The property is located in Savina and was advertised online for 8,000 euros per month. Guardia Civil agents located the alleged perpetrator of the events, and once detained, found that he had a history of similar crimes in previous years.

The mayor of Sant Josep, Josep Marí Ribas, Agustinet , emphasized the speed of the extinction that prevented the fire encroaching on the main road Avenue de Sant Augusti. "The smoke was very dense and very annoying," said the mayor. "We must thank the participants in the extinction as fast as they have been," said the mayor, who highlighted the work of Civil Protection volunteers, Local Police, Civil Guard, firefighters, Ibanat and Environment agents. In total, 3 aircraft, 3 helicopters, 2 fire engines, 4 teams of bomberos, plus environmental agents and technicians attended the blaze. Two helicopters and an airplane were transferred to Ibiza from Majorca, one of the helicopters carrying a team of firefighters. According to first inspections, all indications are that the fire began in the zone of the torrent closest to the beach, and it is suspected there were two simultaneous outbreaks. Despite the two separate outbreaks raising eyebrows as to the likelihood of the fire being started through arson, there

The Noudiari did choose to publish a report on the land’s ownership being embroiled in corruption cases however. In their report headlined ‘The fire burns the restaurant 'okupado' Recó des Pins, embargoed by corruption in Marbella’, they make mention of squatters (okupados) having occupied the buildings for some years. A local source that we consider credible says there may be around 10 squatters living in the buildings that have been there several years. Ibiza has a history of fires on land occupied by squatters, including that in Ibiza Town recently. There have also been fires in Benirras and Cala Llonga on land occupied by squatters. The Noudiari report then goes on to detail the ownership of Reco Des Pins, which was used for many years as a popular venue for tourist excursions, weddings and other celebrations. It notes that the venue was involved in the money laundering and corruption scandals of Marbella Town Hall. It goes on to details the people and amounts involved in the corruption, however the text is by definition quite complicated, and our
translation skills are not sufficient to avoid landing ourselves in hot water if we get it wrong – suffice it to say it is typical of the many corruption cases that have blighted Spanish politics in recent years. According to reports the land in question has recently been obtained by the Cala Bassa Beach Club, and local residents feel it is only a matter of time before permission for redevelopment is sought to utilise the land in conjunction with adjoining beach bars already owned by the company on Port Des Torrent beach.

Irresponsible UK Press Go Nuts
A fire took hold in what has become scrub of the Reco de Pins property adjacent to the Seaview Hotel in Port Des Torrent on Tuesday. It was a significant fire, declared at 15:19 hours and categorised as Level 1. Strong winds made it a tougher job for emergency services. Attending the scene were 3 aircraft, 3 helicopters, 2 fire engines, 4 teams of bomberos, plus environmental agents and technicians. It is a significant fire, but not an unusual one. I live approximately 200 metres from the blaze and that land has caught fire several times in my tenure. True to form the U.K. press has gone nuts, with the Daily Star reporting: “BREAKING: Explosions heard in Ibiza as fire ravages Brit party island. HOLIDAYGOERS were forced to flee beaches in Ibiza when a fire began raging nearby as witnesses reported seeing exploding gas canisters.” Apparently there were one or two exploding gas canisters, but the ‘explosions’ video offered by the Daily Star is nothing more than wind noise in the microphone. I can say categorically that their assertion that “Beaches across Ibiza have been evacuated as a wildfire rips through the party island” is absolute nonsense as is “people scrambling to get away”. And as for the Star’s reprinting many “panicking tweets” from family in the U.K., don’t put out such ridiculous nonsense and then they wouldn’t be panicking would they? Idiots. The Star may have been among the worst, but it is not alone. Similar stories are being carried in most of the British tabloid press. Totally irresponsible nonsense, but we have come to expect little else. For the reassurance of relatives in the U.K., it is a significant fire, but nothing that the awesome ‘bomberos’ firemen and women here do not take in their stride. No-one is at risk.

Opening Party. Friday 9th June. Stephen Donovan Wow, astonishing, unbelievable, incredible, amazing, exciting, seductive... I could spend hours looking in dictionaries and thesaurus’s for the right words. I could study the works of Ernest Hemingway or Oscar Wilde for inspiration but I still don’t think I’d righty describe or justify the night I had at Glitterbox Opening Party. However I will try but best. Firstly, let’s get the elephant in the room (or on the page if you prefer) out of the way, Space is gone (RIP) and it has been replaced by something new and glamourous, and for some, still mysterious, that is until you get to experience it for yourself. And once you do, you will see that sometimes, change can be good, really really good. Hï Ibiza, has set an exceptionally high bar and standard for clubs worldwide. The people at Ushuaia Entertainment certainly didn´t cut any corners when redesigning this super club. Hï has an aura to it, not just an atmosphere or a look, it literally has an aura or a persona. It’s clean, new, colourful, playful. The boundaries certainly have been pushed. Hï now has a new and improved layout. It has 2 main rooms, The Theatre (Room 1 Once The Discoteca), and The Club (Room 2 once The Terrace) completely separate but only a moment apart. Then you have the Magic Garden, which is an outside room perfect to gather your thoughts, chill for a few minutes and chat with friends. The Wildwest is truly Hï’s ace up it sleeve, when you enter you think it’s another club room, its jam-packed with people, there’s full light production, a DJ booth and you then realise it’s the toilets,

Tonight it was the magic of Donna Summer’s ‘I Feel Love’ everyone knows it, it’s that infectious bass line, building up to Donnas big line ´I FEEL LOVE!!!!´ The few thousand clubbers sing it out like something I´ve never seen before. It was without doubt the highlight of the night, bravo Glitterbox, bravo. I head over to The Club to catch the headliner of the night Dimitri from Paris. Dimitri´s sound of funk, disco and house is truly unique and infectious. As I enter its Joey Negro´s ´Come On Make A Move On Me´ coming through the newly installed Adamson sound system. As I look around at the almost full room, it’s hard to imagine that this was once The Terrace. With my nostalgia out of the way I boogie the night away with ´tune after tune´ from Dimirti. He plays some classics including Basements Jaxx ‘Rendez Vu’ and CeCe Peniston´s Finally. The tracks are accompanied by Shovell live on percussion, which is amazing to see up close. If you find yourself in need of a change from the Ibiza norm, Glitterbox to defiantly the night you need to be at. Its distinctive lashings of disco, house and soul anthems with lavish and astonishing production will keep you dancing the night away. I have to celebrate you baby, I have to praise you like I should.´ And praise you I will‌ 23 years, 23 seasons, 23 birthdays, 100´s of amazing parties and 1000´s of followers. Cream Ibiza, is back for its twenty third year, and I couldn´t be happier!! Over the years Cream has always been a people’s favourite on the island, and this year is no different. With its star studded line up, massive production and all contained in one of the best clubs in Ibiza, it’s always going to be a winning formula. This year we see 3 DJ superstars take residency at Cream, the man who has dominated the dance scene over the past 3 decades, Fatboy Slim. With trance heavy hitter Paul van Dyk alongside England’s own Above & Beyond. And special guests gracing the terrace and main room over 16 weeks including Faithless, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Ferry Corsten, Hardwell, Sander van Doorn, Paul Oakenfold to name just a few. For its specular opening party it delivers an amazing line up. In the Main Room; Paul Van Dyk Gabriel & Dresden Ben Nicky Will Atkinson, while across the way in The Terrace its Fatboy Slim, Faithless (DJ set), George Kwali and Sean Hughes. I arrive at Cream shortly after 2, and head straight for the terrace to catch the end of George Kwali´s set. This young Brit, has gained a lot of momentum over the past year or so since the release of his track ´Crank It´ and is definitely one to watch. His blend of house and deep house kept the crowd jumping and looking for more. At 3am, Fatboy Slim takes to the Dj booth for his first of 11 night residency and gives an outstanding performance. His energy behind the decks are something remarkable, always
keeps the awing crowd jumping! Something I really liked about Fatboy Slim shows are the diverse age ranges, I see fresh faced teenagers rubbing shoulders with married 50 years plus couples and me an almost 30 year Ibiza resident in the middles, not many artists get that sort of following. With air horns in hand, Norman plays his big hits, old b side tracks and everything in between. Sinner Winner was definitely my favourite track of the night. ´I AM NOT A SINNER, I AM NOT A SINNER, FOR I AM A WINNER´ Needless to say the terrace erupted. Needing my trance fix, and venture over to the main room to catch German born and Grammy Award Winner, Paul van Dyk. As I enter the room is almost full to capacity to see this Cream regular. The light and sound as always memorizing and Above & Beyond´s ´Satellite´ comes from the speakers, goose bumps follow. Paul sees out his set with some absolute trance classics and finishes with his ´For An Angle´, the masses go crazy. I head back to the Terrace to catch Faithless (DJ Set) finish out the night with the 5 – 6 slot. In my opinion, the best time to be at Cream. Its only then, when the true fans are still there, and they´re there to see the night to the end! Sister Bliss is the woman behind the decks, giving us a blend of house, trance and a small taste of EDM. She plays all the Faithless classics including We Come 1, God is a DJ, and Insomnia. She keep the dancers going till the bitter end. Cream will continue the dominating of the terrace and the main room at Amnesia every Thursday until their massive closing party on 21st of September. These parties are not to be missed, and you catch me here every Thursday.
Creamfields have announced their 2017 line up for their party as part of the Radio One weekend on Saturday 5th August. A huge line up once again, for a huge club – the world’s biggest as it happens. That’s right you clued up clubbers, this year Creamfields is at the newly poshed up Privilege. Artists include Above & Beyond, Annie Mac, B.Traits, Charlie Sloth, Danny Howard, Don Diablo, Goldie, High Contrast, KÜlsch (DJ Set), Mistajam, Monki, My Nu Leng, Shadow Child, Steve Aoki, Yotto plus more to be added. He might not be the biggest name on the list, but it’s Goldie that has The Ibizan office going all creamy at the prospect. Yuk. You ain’t seen nothing yet.

News Cathy Guetta’s Villa in Breach of Planning Laws David Guetta's ex-wife Cathy left the Villa a few months after it was completed. By then it had gained something of a reputation for its underground Nightclub, widely reported after an A lister housewarming party. This got the attention of local planners who said the basement level only had permission for use as an engine room or storage. However it seems from reports by The San José Councilor for Urban Planning, Ángel Luis Guerrero, that since Cathy’s departure further changes have been made, changes that are still in breach of regulations. The house is now occupied by the family of the Arab sheik Abdul Aziz, according to sources related to the management Of the dwelling. Now, the basement has been converted to a cinema, with screen, armchairs and everything necessary for the viewing of feature films, one of the great hobbies of the aforesaid sheikh. "Those in charge of the house have said that they will remove those uses and restore legality," said Guerrero. In addition, municipal officials have confirmed that some unauthorized extensions have been made , "although they are not very important," he said. It is expected that the City Council will open proceedings to ensure the property is returned to its legal condition in coming days. The Villa is located at KM4 on the Ibiza to Sant Josep road. Prince Abdul Aziz travels to Ibiza with a large entourage, who until now were staying in three hotels on the island.

San Antonio PP say Police focus on Penalising Businesses puts Security in Jeopardy. The Popular Party (PP-think ‘Conservatives) have denounced what they describe as the "chaotic" state of the Sant Antoni Local Police. They issued a statement claiming that in the current term of office of the left-wing coalition, "security in the municipality has ceased to be a priority" The Popular Party Group of Sant Antoni City Council has described the situation of the Local Police department and, therefore, of the security of the municipality as a whole, as "chaotic and very worrying”. Local councillors say in a statement that, since the leftwing coalition have been in office, "security in the municipality has ceased to be a priority" and, in areas such as Sant Rafel, Santa Agnès, and Sant Mateu police presence is virtually non existent. Their statement argues that "because the government team is obsessed with dedicating all the troops to besiege local entrepreneurs , especially those related to nightlife, the rest of the community, especially the shops, suffer the lack of protection of the Council, which also does nothing to end the scourge of the street vendors.” The PP say that, including the commanders, "there are 45 policemen in the staff of the City Council (8 less than they should have because the council has not been able to cover these fixed places)", and 4 telephone operators. To these must be added 9 agents who are in the ENEV, a unit that only works at night and in a very determined area
such as the Paseo del Arenal, the Paseo de las Fuentes and the West End. "It is necessary to remember that the agents of this unit cannot leave the zone by order of the councillor Aida Alcaraz". According to their figures, when taking away all police roles that are not available for patrol work, it leave 20 officers to cover 3 shifts across the entire municipality, “and accounting for free days, we have the majority of the shifts being covered with 3 agents in the street to patrol Sant Antoni, Sant Rafel, Sant Agnès and Sant Mateu". Material and uniforms They also claim the Police are in dire need of new uniforms, stating that none have been purchased in two years and that officers are resorting to ‘make-do and mend’ with some even allocated uniforms in the wrong size because that is all that is available. Their list of complaints extends to vehicles stating that “although there is a large number of police vehicles, both cars and motorcycles, most do not work and are not repaired”. Though their statement does not give any proposals for remedial action, they end by saying they are very pessimistic as to any likely improvements being made, something they put down to “the disastrous management last year, resulting in little prospect of any agent arriving during the current season.”

It’s mid June, and for me that means two things. My birthday, on 21st June (yay), and the onset of full-on wedding season. Are you still single but desperate to get married? Do you like the idea of committing to one person for the rest of your life? Well, what if that one person just happens to be you? There’s a new wedding trend gaining popularity. We love a good designer dupe. And right now, one seems to be flying off the shelves, with bloggers and influencers all over it. Everyone wants the Gucci-inspired Topshop slogan t-shirt - and it's only £15 The 'Merci mon cheri' top has racked up more than 35,000 likes on Instagram The white t-shirt features twointertwined hearts over red stripes with the French slogan 'Merci mon cheri,' which translates as 'Thank you darling'. It's strikingly similar to Gucci's iconic £320 logo top but costs just a fraction of the price. I looked for the Gucci version on ebay and prices were reaching a staggering £3,000. Unfortunately, Top Shop’s version is currently sold out online, but be sure to check your local store to see if they have stock. Slogan tees are a must-have this season and the high street chain has plenty of them, including the 'Feminist' tee , which was a great dupe for Dior's logo shirt . e often look to Ibiza’s dance music industry as setting the scene around which Island business revolves, and few would argue its importance in that respect. In recent years the clubs have been joined by the chic beach bars and their seemingly never ending growth. But if basing success in any single sector on a straightforward growth of business, chances are Ibiza’s wedding trade would top the list. Perhaps it is the lure of a marriage in the sun combined with a realistic distance for friends and relatives to attend. Perhaps it is the touch of glamour and cool afforded by brand Ibiza. Perhaps it is a statement by the betrothed that their life together will be one long party. Perhaps for some it is the marital culmination of a love affair that started or blossomed in Ibiza. Whatever the reasons each couple has, there is no doubt that there has been a huge increase in Wedding business in recent years, and plenty of Ibiza businesses looking to serve that growing need. In this special feature Ibizan writer Carly Sorensen recounts her recent family wedding experience at one of the Island’s most popular venues, Chiringuito in Cala Gracioneta. n May the 30th my gorgeous baby brother Callum and his beautiful fiancée Laura became husband and wife in front of fifty of their nearest and dearest family and friends at the stunning El Chiringuito, Cala Gracioneta. They are a truly beautiful couple, inside and out, so loving, kind, funny and generous, so the first venue that came to mind when they asked if I knew anywhere was El Chiringuito. A boho chic beach venue, nestled in a snug rocky cove under a canopy of pine trees with turquoise sea and white sand glistening before it, Cala Gracioneta Chiringuito is the perfect place for a wedding. The happy couple flew out to view it in January 2016, and, even boarded up for winter, totally fell in love with it, paying the deposit for their chosen date before they even flew back to the UK. Fast forward almost 18 months of planning and preparation and we walked in to the stuff of fairy tales, imagined by Callum and Laura and brought to life by the wonderful Lucy Dyer of Mambo Weddings and her team. We were greeted warmly by Lucy and manager and long time Mambo group super host Javier, who made sure everyone was happy and had a drink in their hand.

Set up in the elevated area to the right, with views out over the sea, were rows of pristine white wooden chairs before a simple alter. A long rustic wooden table took centre stage at the far end of the main terrace with the beach and sea as the backdrop, adorned with a gold Mr and Mrs centrepiece, and candles and simple stylish flowers by Gary and Holly of Floral Dreams Ibiza . It was complemented by round tables in flawless white linen, all adorned with the same flowers in white, pink and cream shades. A cosy seating area took the space at the left overlooking the sea, a tall lightbulb lit 'Love' sign was positioned by the chic and stylish restaurant area, a gorgeous Cupcake Collection cake and sweet table were set up under a white net next to the tiki style terrace bar and lanterns in pinks and creams hung from the trees, blowing gently in the breeze as the surf lapped at the shore. Pure magic. The magic turned Hollywood with the arrival of the groom and his party by one of Boats Ibiza's speedboats. They cruised up to the jetty and made their way across the rocks to the venue amid congratulations from onlooking beachgoers, looking smart and
suave in matching navy blue trousers and waiscoats with white shirts and gold bow ties. More than one was heard to say that they felt famous! Anticipation grew as we awaited the arrival of the bride and took in the dreamy surroundings, with my brother getting a bit nervous as time ticked by. Laura arrived later than intended due to transport problems (NB - El Chiringuito is a popular name for bars and restaurants in Ibiza … ensure you're going to the right one, especially if you're driving a bride!) but Lucy Dyer was magnificent, reassuring everyone, slowing down the food prep process and ensuring the day continued to run smoothly. She even greeted our understandably flustered bride with a glass of bubbly and gave her time to centre herself before giving the go ahead for the ceremony to begin. Laura was well worth the wait. She gracefully descended the stairs cut into the rocks to the strains of Sky Full of Stars, and looked breathtaking in an ivory jewelled mermaid style strapless gown and full length veil, her hair in a relaxed yet glamourous updo and make up glowing and natural - thanks to Sally Vinson and Marie Duchar Clark. Karen Killeen's ceremony was perfect - personal, honest, humorous and heart felt. She really did her homework, having spoken to Callum, Laura and myself to get to know the bride and groom better. When Mr and Mrs Hoare exited to upbeat sounds of Treasure by Bruno Mars, the guests showered them in fresh rose petals whilst the sunlight softly dappled the venue in a soft glow. I then sang seven of their favourite songs whilst photographers Max Lawless and Aida Matei snapped away, supported by friends and Backbeat bandmates Chris Langley and Patrick Levy, before we all took our seats for dinner.

Arranging any wedding is bound to be a pretty stressful experience. From ensuring flowers arrive fresh on the day to keeping Aunt Bertha well away from Aunt Hettie on the seating plan, there are many, many elements that go together to make the perfect special day. Most of us would consider the planning of one successful wedding a major achievement. Spare a thought then for Lucy Dyer, Mambo's own magical memory maker, who will be organising no less than 60 weddings in 2017, 40 at Chiringuito alone.. What does the Mambo Wedding Service Offer?
LD: We approach every wedding as a bespoke event and so the starting point is always a meeting with the clients to discuss their needs. We have held weddings for as few as 5 people and into the hundreds, from very simple ceremonies to big extravagant parties, every wedding is important and receives the same attention and service. We arrange everything from accommodation for guests, to flowers, wedding cars, hair and make up, music and of course catering. I noticed on the website many highly original and beautiful styling touches, such as the driftwood table centres. Is that something you do?
LD: Yes I love the creative side of the job, very rewarding—I made the driftwood centres by hand. What has been the most romantic wedding?
LD: Impossible to single one out. Every wedding is the most romantic for the couple involved. And the most extravagant?
LD: That would have to be the 3 day wedding of the Swedish House Mafia's Axwell held at Chiringuito. A very special event. You must have had some very challenging circumstance arise. What wins the award for "the show must go on"?

LD: Ha ha, I guess that is to do with experience and having great resources to draw on. I have been wedding planning for 10 years and built up a fantastic bank of reliable people. LD: The one that stands out was again at Chiringuito. We had the most incredible thunderstorm and the rain was absolutely torrential—as heavy as I've ever known it in Ibiza. We lost all electricity except by some fluke of luck or divine intervention the supply to the bar and the DJ booth kept working. The lightning was incredible and gave us a better light show than we could have ever arranged by earthly means. Against all odds it turned into one of the most special and enjoyable weddings you could hope for. Last question—how can you possibly be so calm? (It might be The food was out of this world. Cal and Laura had selected a range of typical Ibicenc sharing starters and, after warm fresh bread with olives and home made alliolli, first out were mouth wateringly succulent king prawns, encased in a crunchy light batter. Next out were griddled padrones (small green peppers) sprinkled in sea salt, perfectly cooked salt and pepper fried calamari, warm and tasty chipirones with more sumptuous allioli and a delightful ensalada payesa. For the main course I had plumped for steak, and at El Chiringuito the only way they know how to serve it is sublime. Tender, warm, perfectly seasoned and flawlessly cooked, it was served alongside a creamy rectangular tower of dauphinoise potatoes.
The 'mmm' and 'ooh' sounds from the guests were testimony to just how popular these dishes were amongst the guests and Javi and his brilliant staff were quick to bring out seconds to satisfy the biggest appetites. They also ensured the kids food came out first so the little ones weren't left waiting too long, one of many nice touches during the meal. The speeches after dinner were all amazing, Laura's Dad Ian brought a lump to everyone's throat as he spoke from the heart about his beautiful daughter and her new husband, the three
best men gave speeches with just the right balance of banter and sincerity. Callum's speech was funny, thankful and full of love. Cake cutting, more photos, more drinks and plenty of dancing to great tunes played by the inimitable DJ Dr Feelgood – who I can never fault, he always strikes the right chord and reads his crowd perfectly – filled the next few hours. We happy revellers celebrated together as the sun slipped into the sea, painting the sky a romantic orange pink, before it turned a deep azure blue then darkened and filled with stars, mirrored by the trees as they twinkled with hundreds of dainty fairylights. Just when we all thought it couldn't get any better, Lucy led us all down to the beach by candlelight, where we held a beautiful ceremony of well wishes for the bride and groom finished with a magical gesture worthy of a Disney film … but to find out just what that was you'll have to attend or have a wedding at El Chiringuito. I promise you won't be disappointed. A perfectly beautiful day for a perfectly beautiful couple, I wish we could do it all again!

The very first followers of Jesus, scattered throughout the GreekRoman world more than 2000 years ago, formed extraordinary and unique communities. The word pair “one another” is a favorite in the New Testament. The New Testament is a collection of first century books written by the earliest followers of Jesus. In the original Greek of the New Testament “one another” is just one word pronounced allelous. This one word translated “one another” has so much to teach us about community. When just some of these sayings are knitted together we have an amazing tapestry of community: “Be devoted to one another.” “Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited.” “Let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling-block or obstacle in your brother's way.” “Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you.” “Greet one another with a holy kiss.” “Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.” “Be completely humble and gentle be patient, bearing with one another in love.” “Be kind and
compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” “Encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” “Offer hospitality to one another.” “If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another.” “No-one has ever seen God but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” The Infinite One is not a monad existing in splendid isolation. Jesus has taught us that God is an eternal community of love. Father, Son and Holy Spirit together with an infinity of angels. The very first Christian gatherings were an experiment in community reflecting the Infinite One. Hence we have these words in the Bible: “Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the holy ones greet you. The gracious help of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the close relationship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” (1 Corinthians 13:12-13). A new documentary ‘A 100 Years of Connections’, which analyses the influence of technology and electronics in contemporary music over the last 100 years was launched at the B12 Gallery in Ibiza last week. It is the result of a research project from an Ibiza resident, writer and musical researcher Jorge Sánchez de la Campa that sees the light after two years of work. Structured in 16 chapters (phases) of 50 minutes each, it analyses how contemporary music has evolved with technological developments alongside artistic avant-gardes, successive social and political states, and philosophical trends within a context of continuous cre-
ative and technological exploration that has fostered the emergence of many genres and styles. Jorge Sánchez de la Campa has created a soundtrack that begins in 1913 and is narrated in 16 phases. Together they take you on a chronological tour through different times and geographical places. Beginning with pioneers such as Arnold Schoenberg, Edgard Varese or Karlheinz Stockhausen to Robert Moog, the inventor of the synthesizer, which became incorporated into the recording studio to be used as another instrument by groups such as Soft Machine, Pink Floyd, Neu! or Can from Meco Monardo, Cerrone, Michael Kuntze or Giorgio Morder - those who brought the new sounds to the dance floor - to the inventors of the techno genre Juan Atkins, Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson and the pioneers of industrial
music such as Throbbing Gristle. A 100year journey that allows you to travel through the age of disco music, the development of dub in Jamaica, the origins of hip hop in the Bronx of New York, the emergence of new-wave and synth-pop in the UK, the house eruption in Chicago in the mid-1980s, the Detroit techno scene, the rave phenomenon, IDM or Intelligent Dance Music, dubstep, drum ’n’ bass, trip hop and ambient. It concludes in the 21st century with a new generation of musicians who proceed in the same way as scientists and mathematicians, investigating the multiple possibilities that technology offers them. With commentary interspersed with lots of musical clips from the artists being discussed, it takes you on an insightful and interesting musical journey. Here’s a taster of some of the phases:

San Juan Fiesta Claire B
June 24th is the fiesta of San Juan with celebrations in many places on the island in honour of John the Baptist or San Juan. It is widely celebrated all over the world and on mainland Spain, and Ibiza is no exception. Being the patron saint of the town of San Juan, the fiesta and celebrations there continue over several days. The celebrations begin in San Juan and in other parts of the island on St. John’s Eve (La Noche de San
Juan), starting in the evening of the 23rd with music and bonfires at midnight to see in the 24th. As it occurs just a few days after the Summer Solstice (the longest day on June 21st), it is also used as a celebration of the start of the summer. Fire and water are considered to be purifying elements and play a vital role in these festivities. Traditionally, people jump over the bonfires, or run over hot coals, as a way of purifying the body and soul by fire. Others believe that you should throw something old into the fire that represents something you no longer want in your life or a piece of paper where you write down the things you want to change. Some choose to purify themselves by bathing in the sea. It is also customary in Ibiza to eat San Juan macaroni, made with curly noodles cooked in milk, sugar, cinnamon and lemon rind. Other typical Ibizan products such as orelletes, wine or traditional spirits are also consumed in family homes. In San Juan it is traditional that 9 bonfires are lit at midnight for the brave to jump over and for others to see out the old and in with the new. Around Ibiza Town there are usually events put on in Figueretas and Talamanca. In Figueretas there’s usually a DJ playing music from 10pm followed by the lighting of a bonfire on the beach at midnight. Talamanca also usually has celebrations on the beach and there’s also usually a party outside the Hotel Ses Figueres further along the beach. In recent years buses were put on from Ibiza Town to shuttle people to Talamanca and back.

Flower Power ‘17 Once again it's time to bring out the bangles, find your flares, wear the flowers and go back to the sixties for the Cala Llonga Flower Power Night, which is taking place on Thursday 22nd June. The Flower Power Wagon will burst into life with singer Jodi and DJ Ben at 7pm outside Restaurant Wild Asparagus on Pueblo Asparagus before moving down to the centre of the village at 8pm, stopping off at various locations before finishing at the beach at around 10pm then carrying on rocking 'til midnight. It's a "fab" occasion, great fun, with a crazy atmosphere of music and dancing in the streets. See you there.
Beach Volleyball. Also in Cala Llonga there is a Beach Volleyball Tournament taking place on Sundays 25th June, 9th & 31st July. 6th & 20th August. Organised by Andres Moreno in conjunction with Toni from Bar Hollywood - Cala Llonga beach - the competitions start at 10am until 6pm, with a short lunch break, with categories for male, female, mixed fours and seniors. Sport Jezza’s World of Sport Well, sports fans, as I sit here in Gatwick airport on our way to a well earned rest on, would you believe, an island in the Adriatic, what a fantastic weekend for us English that was! Firstly
Football
OMG! England - World Cup Winners! And I never thought that I would be saying that again in my lifetime after 1966 and all that euphoria. But, ' tis true, my friends, as England's Under 20's team have just won the U20 World Cup in South Korea beating Venezuela 1-0 in the Final. Not only that, but England's Under 20's 2nd string also won the Toulon tournament for a second successive time, beating Ivory Coast 5-3 on penalties in the Final. Bit like London buses then - wait ages, in this case when I first set foot on Ibizan soil back in '66, and along come two together! So, well done to both teams and their coaches, you did us proud and here's to England's Juniors doing well in the upcoming Under 18's tournament and the Under 21 side in the UEFA European Chsmpionships. Real shame that the Senior team couldn't follow their lead as they took on the Auld enemy, Scotland, in Glasgow in a World Cup group match and needed a 93rd minute Kane equalizer to share the points in a 2-2 draw. Sorry, lads, not good enough and I totally agree with Jamie Redknapp when he made the very valid point that our socalled English PL players don't appear to replicate their club form when they are playing for their country (Alli, Kane, Sterling et al, please take note!) Perhaps it's because they're not being paid their £100+ grand a week, n'est pas? And as for Kane saying he wants to be talked about in the same breath as Ronaldo and Messi, c'mon mate, in your dreams! Anyway, at least England still lead their Group and should, on paper at least, qualify for the WC for real. As for the other Home Nations, well done to Northern Ireland as they won 1-0 in Azerbaijan to lie second to Germany in their group with a very real chance of qualification for Russia while Bale-less Wales could only draw 1-1 in Serbia to lie in 3rd in Group D, 4 points behind Serbia and Ireland, who drew 1-1 with Austria in Dublin.

Having beaten Bangladesh and New Zealand, and then walloping the Aussies (and sending them packing!) - featuring, on the batting side, a superb ton by Stokes, ably supported by Morgan and on the bowling side, 4 wickets each from Rashid and Wood - the hosts took on Pakistan on Wednesday in Cardiff, who themselves reached the Semis by beating Sri Lanka on

UD Ibiza are celebrating their promotion to the
Spanish 3rd division—though as is so often the way with Spanish football, it might yet not be as plain sailing as they would have hoped. They reversed their 1-0 away defeat to win the return leg 1-0 in front of 700 fans at Can Misses at the weekend. The goal came late in the game, and due to the Ibizans being the seeded team, a 1-1 draw was enough to see them win the tie and gain promotion—we’ve never heard of 1-1 being enough before, but there it is, that is the way they do it. There is however something of a bite in the tail as opponents Santanyi have now submitted an appeal, claiming administrative irregularities should prohibit UD Ibiza taking their place in the 3rd division, and that instead they should be the team promoted. It is something to do with a change of CIF number and so presumably a change in owning company during the season. UD reject their claims but will have to await the outcome of the appeal before they can start celebrating—not that it stopped them doing so at the final whistle on Saturday.

The first of Leigh Griffiths’ two free-kick goals that set up an enthralling final five minutes at Hampden Park Monday in a thrilling final group match in what was, in essence a Quarter Final match. Probable Final opponents for the winners are India, who, on paper, should have beaten Bangladesh on Thursday, who made the Semis thanks to their win over New Zealand and by dint of England's win over Australia. T'was goodbye to South Africa as well as they were beaten by India in their final Group game which was also in essence a Quarter Final. So, a possible Final of England/India at Lords which would certainly be a fitting finale to what has been a great tournament.

the Lions begin to roar, at last, and England overcome Argentina. For us avid followers of the current Lions tour of New Zealand, things were not looking too good after a win and a loss from the first 2 tour matches with the NZ press taking the PI55 out of the touring sides saying that they were a poor excuse for such a famous touring side as well as saying that the All Blacks were going to walk all over them. Well, their critics have to backtrack a little now, as the Lions went out at the w/end and beat the Crusaders, the unbeaten leaders of the NZ championship, the Super Rugby, 12-3, with England's Owen Farrell and Ireland's Conor Murray running the show, proof if needed that this surely must be the First Test halfback pairing for Saturday week. Other notable performers who must have a very good chance of making the Test team were England's Watson, George and Kruis and Wales' Wyn Jones. All will no doubt have become more clear by this w/end as the Lions will have taken on the Highlanders on Tuesday and play the NZ Maoris on Saturday. With 16 England players on Lions duty what a magnificent display by basically a 2nd string Red Rose team in the 1st Test ( of 3) against Argentina in the land of the pampas and gauchos. To win 38-34 against a full strength Pumas team, regular participants in the Southern Hemisphere's Championship and in their own backyard to boot, was testament to England's strength in depth and great to see England's first choice fly half Ford give a barnstorming display with 22 points so here's to a Series winning 2nd Test win on Saturday.

Rafa wins his 10th French Open Title to finish the clay court season off in style. Congrats to Mallorca's favourites son, Rafa Nadal, as he won yet another French title on Sunday to prove beyond any doubt that he really is "the King of Clay". We were all expecting a tense and exciting Final as his opponent, World No 3 Wawrinka, had overwhelmed Andy Murray in the Quarters, but wasn't to be as Rafa just blew the Swiss away, winning in straight sets,6-2, 6-3, 6-1. After beating Djokovic's conqueror Thiem in his Semi fairly easily, Rafa just got stronger and stronger, culminating in his Final win, his 15th Major, equalling Sampras' record and now only 3 behind Federer. Mind you, it says something about the great Swiss' record as out of his 18 only 1 came from the French as against Rafa's 10, making up 2/3rds of his career haul. With Djokovic and Murray seeming to be out of sorts at the mo', I wouldn't bet against yet another classic Federer/Nadal Wimbledon Final, provided they're not in the same half of the draw and if that was the case, I for one am all for it! Finally, congrats to 20 year old World No 47 Latvian Jelena Ostapenko as she overcame favourite and No 3 seed Simona Halep in a thrilling, (for a change!) Ladies Final 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, to record her first Major and, according to all reports, this ain't gonna be the last time we hear her name as she could become the new Monica Seles, remember her? So, yet another exclusive for the Ibizan as, unless you read the English national press before this week's edition, you read it here first!

Hamilton Victorious In Montreal Mercedes Back On Form The Return Of The Pink Panther Everyone made a good start but Verstappen’s was exceptional as he stormed his way from fifth on the grid shoving past Vettel to second place, the shove left Vettel with a damaged front wing and problems throughout the race. But that wasn’t the end of the jostling as Grosjean’s Haas was squeezed by Sainz’s Toro Rosso - the move spun the Spaniard down the grass and across the chicane collecting the innocent Williams of Massa in the process. No one was injured, though Grosjean’s Haas limped back to the pits for a new nose. Sainz and Massa both DNF and out came the safety car. Sainz subsequently apologised for his driving and the stewards gifted him 2 points on his Superlicense citing his driving as “careless and potentially dangerous.” On the restart Hamilton pulled away and controlled the rest of the race, he took his sixth victory in Canada with even his teammate Bottas struggling to hold his pace. Bottas’ race was straightforward, although he was aided by Verstappen’s Red Bull giving up from second place; a Mercedes one-two again, Bottas took second and Verstappen, a DNF. While the Silver Arrows were off on their own, all the action was taking place behind them. In the mix were Ricciardo, Perez, Raikkonen and Ocon, Raikkonen pitted first lap 17, Ricciardo the next lap, and Perez lap 19. Force India kept out Ocon until lap 32, when he was running second to Hamilton. His stop dropped him to sixth but he gained a place when Raikkonen pitted again. Perez began to hound Ricciardo, but Ocon, with fresh tyres had ideas of his own and with 20 laps remaining Force India asked Perez to make way for Ocon, with the promise they would give back the place if the attack was unsuccessful. Perez was having none of it and the Ferraris were fast approaching.
