Thomas Cook Pilots Confirm Strike
The Balearic Government are considering what legal action can be brought against Ryanair following the budget airline’s cancellation of over 5,000 flights as a result of a shambolic mis-management of Pilot scheduling. The Balearic authority for ports and airports have analysed the list of cancelations Ryanair finally published after consid-
erable public outcry. They have concluded that Ibiza is the worst hit of the Balearic Islands, with cancelations on the Frankfurt and Barcelona services equating to around 5,000 passengers. Read the full story and details of the next strike by Thomas Cook Pilots on page 6.

Sant Josep Restaurant Facing 2nd Prosecution for Unlicensed Parties The business has received a fine of 10,000€, and has a second prosecution pending. Sant Josep City Council fined a restaurant located on the Sant Josep highway 10,000€ for “carrying out a main activity other than the authorised activity”. During an inspection last summer, the Local Police found that a restaurant-licensed space was working as a disco and party venue. In addition, the establishment had created car parking areas without the correct license and had installed a children's activity zone and a caravan outside without permission. The same establishment does also have facilities that do have the mandatory license.
After detecting this situation, the City Council ruled a precautionary order for the closure of the outer spaces and initiated a file for violation of the Law of Activities. Subsequently, the prosecution of the sanctioning file was initiated, which ended with a penalty of 10,000€. During the month of July this year, the Local Police carried out an inspection in the same establishment and found that a party and disco activity was being carried out again in the restaurant area. Policemen also found that parking was supposedly being used without authorisation. According to this inspection, the City Council has opened a new file against the establishment, which is currently in the resolution phase of allegations.
Carmen Santos will be the new boss of health services in the Pitiuses. Currently in the position of Director of primary care, Carmen Santos will replace Josep Balanzat as Head of health services for the Pitiuses. Carmen Santos is a family doctor and took up the position of Director of primary care 7 years ago. She has experience in health management since 2003 including being the Coordinator of San Antonio’s health centre, primary care in Ibiza and Formentera and then subsequently taking up her position as Director in 2011. She says she will continue the work of Balanzat, who has stated personal reasons for his resignation. Speaking of her appointment, Santos said “I start with the same challenges faced by my predecessor. My fight is to improve the health of the Pitiuses in every way possible.” Santos said that the importance of recruiting staff to Can Misses is such that she hopes to gain agreement to postpone the requirement of Catalan.
Beach Bus Services Results The Consell have issued figures for the beach bus services launched in an effort to curb congestion and chaos at some of the Island’s most popular playas. The Cala Salada service was the first to be launched in 2016. Between May & August 2017 it served 76,450 passengers, up 76%. The controversial Benniras services were used by 22,300 people between its start in June and the end of August.

3 More Arrested For Drug Trafficking Guardia Civil have arrested three people in a further operation against drug trafficking. This latest in a serious of busts was made at a bar located between Playa den Bossa and Sant Jordi.
The raid was made on Friday and officers used specialist drug detection dogs. No further details were given as police said the raid was part of an ongoing operation.
Guardia Civil Reveal Earlier Operation Result of Accidental Find Of 11,000 Pills On the 4th August, Guardia Civil agents arrested 10 people, most of them British and Romanian, whom they claim control the west end drug trade. 6 were remanded in custody awaiting trial and 4 were released on bail. A few days later agents of the organised crime and anti-drug team (EDOA) of the Guardia Civil arrived from Majorca and raided a house in Ses Paisses. This operation resulted in the detention of 5 British
men, 2 of them just 18 and 19 years old. In this second raid, they found Cocaine, Marijuana, Magic Mushrooms, Viagra, MDMA and Nitrous Oxide. They have now revealed that the raid was as a result of an accidental discovery of a box containing 11,000 pills—see photo above. The box was found close to the house they then raided, a safe stash that proved to be anything but.
Torre des Coll Jondal Confirmed as Part of 16th Century Island Defence Network The tower is one of around 30 missed in the national cultural inventory of 1968. The Insular Committee of Land Management, Urban Planning and Historical Heritage (CIOTUPH) have agreed that the Torre (tower) des Coll Jondal is listed under the classification of a monument of cultural interest (BIC). The tower and some remaining walls from the original construction are located in St. Jorge Salinas, in the municipality of Sant Josep de sa Talaia. Facing toward the sea on the eastern elevation of the Sa Cova Santa mountains – if you don’t know the club by the same name you will have probably seen its search lights and signage driving on the airport to San Jose main road.
Spanish Inventory of Cultural Heritage
This listing has the agreement of the Heritage Council area of Ibiza who have updated the registration and protection of the rural towers on the island of Ibiza, also known as towers of refuge. A national survey was undertaken in 1968, known as the Spanish Inventory of Cultural Heritage. However it seems that around 30 of the towers were missed by “simple omission or
Ibicenco Pensioners Claim Shabby Treatment By Imserso Scheme Organisers Background The Imserso scheme offers cut price travel and holidays for Spain’s old age pensioners. In past years it has been seen as an important part of Ibiza winter economy. Recently it has lurched from crisis to criticism in the way it is operated, and the availability and timing of the holidays it offers. Forthcoming Season In 2017/18 the number of places available in Ibiza for pensioners from the mainland has increased by 66.6%.
However it seems that for Ibiza’s own pensioners opportunities to take advantage of the scheme will be extremely limited. Many pensioners were left feeling cheated as the very limited number of places available had all but sold out on the first day of sale, and to compound matters further they are being asked to pay normal rates for travel to Majorca, a cost which has previously been covered as part of the scheme.
ignorance” according to the Consell de Ibiza, and so were not officially recognised for their cultural importance until recently. This tower on Sa Cova Santa is composed of the typical perfectly cylindrical body. Its walls are built in stone in the a technique called herringbone using a lime based mortar. The base has a floor of limestone rectangular flagstones and a well in the centre – reflecting the towers’ use as a retreat to wait out the frequent incursions. Although no attributable data is available to give a specific date of construction, the Torre Coll des Jondal’s technical features are similar enough to those of many other Ibiza towers for which there is evidential information on the construction, that the Heritage boffins vouch for it being of 16th century construction “with almost absolute certainty”. Due to its omission from the national survey and so lack of any building regulations protection, the general state of conservation of the tower is far from perfect. It has had various additions and adaptations made in its various uses over the centuries since becoming obsolete in having a part to play in the Island defences. See Also—The Ibizans on Page 7

David’s
Pizzeria Restaurante Italian, San Antonio David’s is renowned for its Italian-French cuisine and they have a vast menu, including 35 different pizzas to choose from with the option of turning any one into Calzone. But if pizza’s not your thing, they also have a selection of pastas, salads, fish and meat dishes to tempt you. On speaking with owner Fabrice, we left the tough decision of what to order with him, after all he is the Chef. Our drinks were served with efficiency and we didn’t have
to wait long for our first dish to arrive, Crunchy Goat Cheese Salad Simply, wow. Goats cheese parcels sat on a bed of crunchy leaves and tomatoes, covered with a caramel sauce with spices and balsamic vinaigrette, the combination of flavours was sublime. Soft smooth cheese with crunchy lettuce and sesame seeds, sauces that not only complimented each other but every mouthful you took with the sweet sticky caramel sauce and acidity of the Balsamic vinaigrette. Absolutely delicious, a great choice from the Chef and highly recommended. Our next dish was the Italian Pizza. Before continuing to
read, remove from your mind that image of pizza –every topping lost in a mass of greasy mozzarella. This is real pizza - fresh ingredients crowning a thin crust. The Italian is ‘simply a margarita pizza - topped with Parma ham, rocket and parmesan’. They are flavours that work well together, but the freshness of each ingredient drew out their individual tastes. The peppery rocket, rich tomato base, sweet Parma ham and hint of mozzarella were hit with a generous helping of decadent parmesan shavings, delightful. Another thumbs up for the recommendation and a feeling of assurance that all pizzas are made to the same high standard. side when ordering meat dishes from salads, grilled vegetables to pastas or chips. The duck, was cooked to perfection, melt in the mouth. The mashed apple was gently spiced and the whole dish came alive when the sweet sticky honey sauce was added. The potato gratin was luxurious to say the least, potatoes cooked in a rich thick creamy sauce with a hint of garlic, topped with mozzarella cheese. A very rich side which will do nothing for your waistline but leave a big grin on your face. We were then treated to a dessert of Lemon Tart with Italian Meringue (lemon meringue pie). Not just a slice of tart on a plate, this was a work of art. The meringue on top was sweet and sticky and the lemon curd smooth and zingy. The lemon sorbet it was served with was sharp and fresh reminding me of Limoncello (without the alcohol). David’s is open daily until the 14th October from 12.00 to 00.30, they offer a takeaway service and a menu del dia for 12.50€. The menu, available daily till 8.30pm starts with a choice of garlic bread, mixed or tomato salad, then for the main two options of spaghetti or a mozzarella and tomato pizza to which you add 2 toppings of your choice. The desert is one of a selection of caramel cream, ice cream or fruit of the day – and the price even includes a beer, soft drink or wine and a chupito to end the meal—excellent value for money. David’s, an institution, and a well deserved one at that!

News Government Considers Legal Action Against Ryanair From page 1 The Balearic government is considering the options for legal sanctions against Ryanair for damages as a result of their cancellation of 8 flights to the Balearics affecting some 5000 passengers. Management of the Balearic ports and airport authority have called on executives of Ryanair to meet with them and explain the reasons behind the cancellations. Using data now made public b Ryanair the Balearic government has compiled a report which highlights that Ibiza is the worst affected of the Balearics suffering a loss of 14 flights to Frankfurt and 12 to Barcelona. The government has advised all passengers affected by the cancellations that they should submit claims for the loss directly to Ryanair and that if they do not receive a satisfactory response they should seek redress through their own national or European consumer services departments.
As Reported by the BBC Portinax is one of the least developed of Ibiza’s harbours—and the Consell would prefer it stays that way.
Consell “No More Marinas” Ibiza Consell has stated that the island does not need further marinas and that it supports regulations which would restrict 75% of moorings to boats that are permanently moored in Ibiza. Territory and mobility councillor Pepa Mari, has said that no more marinas are needed in Ibiza. “it is neither necessary nor the right time to promote such development on the
island”, said Mari. The Balearic government announced last week that they would be implementing a plan of reorganisation of the islands public ports which will reduce the waiting list for moorings by residents by over 80%. There are currently 6,300 requests for moorings on the waiting lists throughout the Balearics. Stated by way of example Ports De
Balears manages 411 moorings in the port of Sant Antoni however in the past 3 years only 1 berth for a resident has been granted. The public ports are separate to the private companies. Sant Antoni’s Club Nautic manages 574 moorings, 45% of which will be allocated to transit/visiting boats.
Prosecution Seek 18 Months Prison For Tourist Who Abused Hotel Staff The court case is being held in the accused’s absence but something that is allowed in Spain when the penalty requested is less than two years. The accused was staying at the hostel Amistat in San Antonio. A member of hotel staff speaking at the trial said that he had been a problem at the start making rude comments of a sexual nature. She explained that as she crossed the pool area, he got up from his seat and headed toward her. He started to touch her and as he grabbed her they both fell into the pool as she tried to escape his clutches.
The hotel manager and another worker said the man had annoyed other customers and following the incident with the member of staff they called the Guardia Civil. “When they arrived he became aggressive. He put a toothbrush in his mouth and took something sharp threatening the officers though it turned out to be a pen”. The man, initials CCC, was arrested and the public prosecutor has requested 18 months for the sexual assault plus two months each for the minor charges of threats and a fine of 720€. The defence argued for the man’s acquittal.
Ryanair could face up to 20m euros (£18m) in compensation claims after cancelling thousands of flights due to a shortage of pilots, it has warned. The budget airline plans to cancel 40-50 flights every day for the next six weeks, after it admitted it had "messed up" the planning of pilot holidays. An internal memo seen by the BBC suggests the pilot shortage could continue until the end of the year. In a letter to pilots, chief operations officer Michael Hickey said the firm's crewing forecast to the end of December was "for tighter pilot numbers". The letter shows Ryanair pilots were only informed on 13 September of the staff shortage facing the company yet Mr Hickey outlined that it knew last year they may face a leave backlog. Pilots have been asked to work during their booked holiday to cover the gaps and their rota pattern is also likely to be disrupted. In the letter, Mr Hickey said these pilots would be "helping protect the integrity of the operation during the remainder of the flight year". Consumer rights group Which? said: "It's essential that Ryanair release a full list of flights that will be affected so that passengers have as much time as possible to make alternate arrangements." The airline has blamed a backlog of staff leave for the disruption, which could affect up to 400,000 passengers. Ryanair is changing its holiday year, which currently runs from April to March, to run from January to December instead. This has led to large numbers of its staff taking holidays in September and October. Reports on Monday also suggested recruitment problems were affecting the airline and that it had lost pilots to rival Norwegian Air. A Norwegian spokesperson said: "We can confirm that 140 pilots have joined us from Ryanair this year. Pilot recruitment is also underway for more pilots for our new Dublin base opening later this year." Customer anger The airline has promised affected customers alternative flights or refunds. However, many have reacted angrily to the cancellations on social media and called for a full list of affected flights to be released. Karen Higgins tweeted: "Yet another day of constant checking to see if our flights are safe or cancelled! Cmon @Ryanair help us all out! Get the updates done!!!!" Dee Moloney tweeted: "Have 2 trips booked in the next couple of weeks. Excitement of trips now replaced with worry!... Won't be flying with @Ryanair again." Shares in Ryanair were down 2% on Monday afternoon.
Thomas Cook Pilots Strike on Saturday
Meanwhile further disruption is inevitable as pilots working for the travel group Thomas Cook will stage a strike on Saturday as part of a dispute over pay. Their trade union, the British Airline Pilots' Association (Balpa), confirmed the strike after five days of talks failed to resolve the dispute. A strike on 8 September was the first by pilots at the company since 1974. Further walkouts, on 29 September as well as 6 October, are also in the pipeline. The next strike will last for 24 hours. The dispute is over a 1.5% pay offer which Balpa has said is unreasonable and amounts to a real-term pay cut. The union says it wants a rise in line with inflation - currently running at 2.9% on a CPI basis - and better travel facilities.

News Spain Opts Out of Race for 5G Fast Technology As mobile data use continues to grow, most developed countries are keen to adopt this nextgeneration technology as soon as possible—it is claimed to give speeds 250 times faster than today’s 4G connections, and in doing so could revolutionise the internet and what is possible using mobile data connections. The Spanish Government has committed to a place at the forefront of digital infrastructure, and so it will come as a surprise to many that they have effectively dropped out of what is considered one of the most important leaps forward in technology for many years. Speaking to El Pais, Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda Minister Álvaro Nadal said that there is no planned date for Spain to deliver 5G, and that the government’s priority is to deploy 4G and fixed broadband connectivity across the entire territory, where 30% of the population still lacks this technology. For the time being, the government will let Spanish operators carry out 5G tests on the 3.5GHz bandwidth, but added that it is too soon to talk about auctioning off the frequencies that will carry the new services.

ar faster than anything currently available by fixed line, 5G offers the capacity to make technology such as driverless cars a reality. The 5g technology will allow the downloading of a 6gb HD movie in around 6 seconds.
So far, the only official move in connection with 5G is the €570,000 spent by the government on a study to analyse the benefits of freeing up the 700Mhz bandwidth for 5G use. Although the European Union has yet to set a target for the start of 5G, the year 2020 is considered likely. But there is still no common standard for all operators, or even a defined bandwidth, noted Nadal. “Without an international standard you can’t carry out a complete deployment, but you can make progress with what you’ve got,” he said, adding that the government’s goal is “for Spain to always have the best digital infrastructure.” South Korea, Singapore and Japan are racing to be the first countries to roll out 5G, which could be commercially available by 2019. 5G technology delivers much faster upload and download speeds, reduces the response times of any remotely activated device, and expands the number of devices that can connect to the internet at the same time. It is also expected to reduce energy consumption and increase battery life. Far faster than anything currently available by fixed line, 5G offers the capacity to make technology such as driverless cars a reality. The 5g technology will allow the downloading of a 6gb HD movie in around 6 seconds.

Copenema ‘Te Faz Bem’
Copenema is a collaboration between Denmark and Brazil – Copenhagen vs Ipanema = Copenema—and we like it!! The album was partly recorded in Rio De Janeiro in the living room of Rodrigo Sha and in Copenhagen @ Volmers studio. Copenema is the latest incarnation of Music For Dream’s label boss Kenneth Bager in collaboration with friends, Rodrigo Sha, Troels Hammer & Thomas Schultz. The track “Te Faz Bem was the last track recorded, and will be the first single released on Music For Dreams on the 22nd of September, followed by an album called “Deixa A Musica Tocar (Let The Music Play). The single as well as the album has been recored as Jams, the intention was to have fun in the Studio. The album is influenced by Jazz, electronica, Funk, MPB all thrown into a melting pot so it sounds new and old at the same time, and the general feel is timeless. The track is already becoming a Balearic classic on the white isle of Ibiza, with weekly support from DJ Harvey’s at his residency at Pikes, getting plays at Oakenfold’s Generations at Pikes too, Jon Sa Trinxa, and Kenneth’s own sets at Jockey Club, Salinas. It is also getting plays from Pete Tong (BBC1), Worldwide FM, Max Essa, Dr Rob, Peter Visti, and many more jocks who knows what rocks when they hear it.
Founded in 1998, the DJ Awards launched during a time when the ‘Disc Jockey’ began to have relevance never before seen. The electronic music landscape was changing fast and Ibiza was the catalyst. ARIES - Queen of Cups
This lovely lady’s soothing energy helps you to be authoritative in any area of your life where you need to be heard, by allowing you to get your point across in a gentle but firm way. Others would be unwise to see your kindness as a weakness; you just need to remind them of that. Expect some good news.

TAURUS - Knight of Swords
A dynamic if at times challenging week. You want to protect your interests, but do you really need a sledgehammer to crack a nut? You are excited to move ahead with new projects and may be frustrated by others lack of enthusiasm or drive. OK then, get on with what you can do solo, until others get up to speed.
GEMIMI - Eight of Swords
You feel a little ‘off’ and are likely to be overwhelmed by deadlines, the demands of others and perhaps trapped by circumstances you have no control over. Stop struggling with your challenges and if necessary choose to be confused. Take time out to restore your equilibrium; others will just have to get on with life without you - temporarily.
CANCER - The Wheel of Fortune
As the wheel turns so does your life, nothing is ever in limbo as events prove this week. You may be in for a few pleasant surprises or if chance meetings are followed through could alter plans dramatically. You may not call all the shots but my advice is to go with the flow and see where this road leads.
LEO - Ten of Cups
Your social life picks up so expect more than your fair share of visitors, although you’ll want to get out and about. This is such a happy card whose energy reminds you to celebrate and appreciate friends, family and the good times. Others show generosity on many levels; plus expect more than your fair share of being loved and adored!
VIRGO - Queen of Wands
Taking charge, being organised and getting your ducks in a row takes priority this week. This card highlights ambition as some of you have wanted a career change or extra responsibility. That’s coming so you might as well embrace it and rise to the occasion. Fire sign women, Sagittarius, Leo or Aries are the best allies or love interests.
LIBRA - Judgement
Stand up and be counted, speak your truth. If you’ve grievances or issues with certain people you mustn't be afraid to deal with them this week. Look at this as a wonderful opportunity to clear the air and start a new chapter in life, especially if situations have become stagnant! This applies personally and professionally so make some bold moves!
SCORPIO - Three of Swords
'Two's company, threes a crowd' is a phrase that often describes this card. Sadly in life, there are those who’ve nothing better to do than cause misery; they seem to get off on it. Be aware of people that try to belittle you, mark their card and wait until you feel less emotional before deciding how to deal with them.
SAGITTARIUS - Eight of Cups
You've been through quite an emotional journey recently and although you may have physically travelled over land or sea, you have also 'travelled,' in the sense of having more experience and understanding of what does or doesn't work for you. This week you'll need to apply new found wisdom by healing any relationships that have gone through a rough time.
CAPRICORN - The Emperor
Taking responsibility for ones actions is a sign of maturity. This week associates and those close sit up and take notice. They sense a "new" you; someone more determined and single minded about what they want to achieve. You've laid foundations for a new way of life and will only operate on your terms and not someone else's.
AQUARIUS - The World
Yet another busy week, as you once again try to juggle work and social commitments. This card indicates a period of great prospects, but in order to profit by this you must be determined. Learn to master feelings and think with a clear head. Career offers opportunities for you to travel. Enjoy life to the full and put worries aside.
PISCES - Four of Pentacles
Clever ideas generate income and you’ll be busy entertaining useful connections in order to establish credibility business wise. You'd be wise to plan for the future by consolidating capital or income this week. You’ll generate more than you think however; don't let that stop you from saving for a ' rainy day' which in uncertain times isn’t a bad thing!

We know that Jews observed many laws from the Bible about what you could and couldn’t eat. Some meat, for example, is Kosher and some isn’t. Kosher food was difficult to get hold of. Buying meat in the market place – you couldn’t be sure if the animal was slaughtered in the right way and you couldn’t be sure whether or not it was sacrificed in one of the pagan temples as an offering before being sold in the market. Better play safe and just eat vegetables! This seems to be the con-

text of St. Paul’s saying in Romans 14.1-2: “Welcome those who are weak in faith, but not for the purpose of quarrelling over opinions. 2 Some believe in eating anything, while the weak eat only vegetables. Paul is against “quarrelling. He is against splitting up over disagreements. “Welcome, he says, those with whom you disagree with. The worldwide Christian Church today is quarrelling about all sorts of things even though St. Paul makes it very clear that we are not to do this. The worldwide church is quarrelling about homosexuality, about abortion, evolution, and the list goes on and on. I wish Christians would shut-up quarrelling about all that! Paul
makes it very clear that Christians must not quarrel or split-up over the things we disagree with. What is surprising about Paul is that he is convinced that those who have convictions about following what the Bible teaches about what to eat and what not to eat – these people, Paul says, are weak in faith! Whereas the woolly liberals who say it doesn’t matter what you eat (even though the Bible clearly says it does matter) – these people, Paul thinks, are strong in faith! Paul is certain about one thing that takes precedence over everything else, namely that, Jesus is all-sufficient. We can’t add or take away from what Jesus has done for us!

Shebizan Amanda O’Riordan Welcome to another instalment of Amanda Zips It Up, and here in the London office the capital is buzzing with London Fashion Week 2017 fever. It’s happening as we speak and I managed to get some sneaky peeks at my favourite High Street store Topshop’s catwalk show, presenting SS/18 womenswear. It’s the principal show of the week that really excites me. And it’s in this issue. Skipping over to the Med, Ibiza’s summer season is coming to a gradual end. The closing parties are happening soon, but a rather interesting ‘3 day weekender’ keeps the flame burning well into October. Have you heard the expression ‘Bi-Curious’? It’s making as many headlines as the rather over-used ‘LGBT’. A bunch of promoters have aimed themselves at the ‘Bi-Curious girls’ market – for those women who aren’t necessarily gay, but curious. The result is a women-only event called ‘The Skirt Club’ – where curious women party together and ‘see what happens’. It’s huge over in NYC, plus here in London and Berlin, all about ‘empowering women’ in a safe man-free environment. They organise elegant parties themed on female-centred pleasure and now boast over 7,000 members. Founded in 2013, women who are vetted, drink champagne and hear from a sex positive speaker or performer are free to experiment if they fancy. Just to reiterate, no men allowed. The Skirt Club is coming to Es Vive Hotel, Ibiza for a ‘3-day Weekender’ 12- 14 October 2017. Girls can enjoy a make-over, yoga at a wellness Spa, enjoy organised photoshoots and of course the get into the whole party element of the weekend. If you’re interested, here are more details. You can also attend the event without buying the full package. Onto this week and as well as LFW’17 we check out Heidi Klum’s new collab and the key wardrobe must-have this season. 14. Kate’s half sister Lottie 19, who has also embarked on a modelling career, attended the show too, wearing a black PVC minim skirt and khaki top. Meanwhile on the runway there were also plenty of big names, with Jourdan Dunn and Hailey Baldwin leading the way. British beauty Dunn, 27, shimmied down the runway in a sheer pale blue dress that was split to the thigh, showing off her incredible
physique. LA actress Hailey, modelled a tight-fitting mint green satin midi dress with a draped a pink duster coat draped off her shoulders. Saving the best for last, the show’s finale showcased the models taking to the catwalk for a second time dressed in Topshop denim, wearing T-shirts with their names on them in denim. A fitting end for a store that sells on average a pair of jeans every 10 seconds and a staggering pair of jeans a minute from their flagship London Oxford street store.
The Blazer Rules at London Fashion Week
Guess what the unexpected item seen everywhere at London Fashion Week was? And you've probably got one at the back of your wardrobe. The humble blazer makes its return to our coat hangers, and I for one have never stopped wearing them. I have a wardrobe full of ‘em. Every year London Fashion Week returns to give us a helpful glance to the future of our wardrobes. And this year it's heralded the surprising return of the Blazer. From Gucci to Balmain, models have glided down the Au-

tumn/ Winter 2017 runways this season already wearing the wardrobe of many a Geography school teacher. In a big way, Antonio Berardi's runway was teeming with blazers of all cuts and colours. Not just reserved for the catwalk, street style snappers caught many an influencer and editor sporting the outerwear in between shows. With colourblocking, houndstooth (or dogtooth), tweed and stripes, the latest styles appeal to any fashion palette and serve to be the easiest way to inject a fresh update to any outfit. I’m personally partial to a black tuxedo style and this is one item guaranteed to smarten up your act at any occasion.
There’s no escaping it, the British capital is in full fashion swing this week for the official London Fashion Week 2017. As always, showcasing all the best in British fashion and big name international designers in scenic locations right across the city. My favourite High Street store, and all round fashion gurus, Topshop, showed their SS18 collection in London last weekend. As usual it was a star studded affair, with my style icon Kate Moss dropping in to show support. We all know that Kate Moss is a besties with Topshop boss Sir Philip Green. The pair struck up a professional relationship when she started designing that range for the retailer back in 2003 and they've become close friends. Mossy adorned a stylish black suede jumpsuit and high heel khaki boots, accompanied by her daughter Lila Grace,
Heidi Klum At Lidl
OK, hands up if you’re a secret Lidl shopper? Whilst not a regular, I’ve occasionally been known to shop in Lidl in London, Mallorca and Ibiza, and it’s bloody good for fresh deli style food and champagne. But fashion‌?. Heidi Klum's highly anticipated Esmara for Lidl range has finally landed and I’m seriously interested. The ionic model’s debut collection was officially premiered at NYFW last week. ‘Esmara’ is a slightly yucky name, but I’ll

pardon her that. It’s a collection made up of 18 pieces, offering stylish staples including skinny jeans, bomber jackets, romantic lace and delicate camisoles. Animal prints features strongly in this stylish collection, and I adore a bit of leopard print. Lidl are hoping shoppers will go wild for the leopard print blazer, £16.99, which is a firm favourite of Heidi's and it’s what I’m looking out for on my next visit. But the winning piece of the range is a soft suede biker jacket, a wardrobe must-have, priced at only £49.99. The range also includes accessories plus shoes, boots and trainers,
which complement the collection. Heidi is no stranger to the design world and has previously designed shoes for Birkenstock and Lingerie for Victoria's Secret. Her collaboration with the German super market giant gives the high street shopper on a budget the chance to purchase quality some statement pieces. Available at seriously affordable prices, starting from £4.99 – 49.99 and in sizes 8 – 16, Klum and Lidl have accomplished just that with this fashion forward range. Here are my personal favourites.

Playing For Change 2017 Cala Llonga What an absolutely incredible day last Sunday was with literally thousands of islanders joining in the Playing For Change Day on the beach in Cala Llonga. From mid -day to mid-night the air was throbbing to the sounds of forty different bands playing on four stages on and around the beach area. At one stage it seemed as though there were as many people as grains of sand on the beach. The kids were also well provided for with Circolar putting on shows and workshops throughout the evening. The total amount raise for The Playing For Change Foundation will take a little while to finalise but we'll advise you of the figure as soon as we have it. Congratulations to everyone involved, the organisers who put in many hours of work, the artists who all played and sang without charge, the food and drink stall holders, the Town Hall of Santa Eulalia, without whose help the event couldn't have taken place, and of course the thousands who went along to make the day the success it was.

gramme at the B12 Gallery. Curated by Luca Carniato, work from Venetian artist Arturo Calce (born 1955) is accompanied by rare pieces of art and design from several international artists, which invites you to rediscover and enjoy pop art. Calce, who has returned to Ibiza after seven years absence, presents some pieces from ‘Primary Characters’, his latest project of medium and large paintings on plexiglass, continuing his love with light and chromaticism. Calce has been working for a decade with this material, experimenting, researching and studying the plexiglass to reach LivingArt, a unique technique of reverse painting that makes him the only artist who uses it in the world. These paintings, while driven by an aesthetic instinct and a constant search of harmony, there is a thought, a strategy and a balance that goes beyond pictorial quality and chromaticity, chiaroscuro and composition. Considered to be a key artist in the Italian city, his work is in public and private collections all over the world.

Sport Jezza’s World of Sport Jeremy Parmenter Top o' the morning to you sports fans, as another week goes by! As we're coming to the end of the summer let's start with the last of the summer sports and in...
Cricket – Windies Have The Advantage And Momentum
After losing the recent Test Series on their tour of England, the Windies took a kind of revenge as they won the one-off T20 match with Captain Morgan's outfit, in Durham last w/ end. Facing a much stronger Windies team, strengthened by the return of their ODI players (who only play for the money, shame on you Gayle, Samuels et al!) a thrilling match seesawed with first the tourists on top, then England, as the tourists posted a below-par 175. With Hayles leading the way, England were well ahead of the asking rate but then lost momentum, eventually being all out for 155. So a Windies win, and let's hope Morgan and Co can come back strongly in the 5 match ODI 50 over Series that starts today (Sky from 1.00).
Tennis – Federer Announces A New Tournament
With not much going on in the tennis world after the US Open, great to see that Roger Federer has got together with his pals and introduced a new competition, the Laver Cup, which is tennis' equivalent of the Ryder Cup with a twist, with Europe v. the Rest of the World. Starting in the next few days and over a 3 day period, it'll be great to see The Fed and Rafa playing on the same side for the first time so good luck to them. My forecast, an overwhelming win for Europe who, let’s face it, have dominated both the men's and women's tournaments over the last few years.
Golf – Still No Joy For Westwood
The wait goes on for Lee Westwood as he continues to hunt that first European Tour title since 2014 as he came in tied 3rd in the KLM Open in Holland, despite 3 rounds of the 4 ending in under 70 but good news for another European, as France's relatively unknown (certainly on this side of La Manche!) Romain Wattell came in to take the title with a -15 total.
Rugby Union – Champions Exeter Back On Top
Interesting weekend in the Premiership as all 3 unbeaten sides (i.e. the top 3 from the previous week) lost, starting with Wasps in a thriller as they lost their first home match since December 2015, 21-24 to Harlequins. Then Newcastle lost to Saracens 29-7 in, of all places Philadelphia, US of A, as the Premiership tries to expand it's coverage, altho' t'was a bit of a failure really as only 6,000 Americans
Singapore Grand Prix Rhian Gibbs Hamilton Needed A Miracle, He Got It! Both Ferraris Retire On First Lap Singapore is eagerly anticipated in the calendar, and in the build up to lights out, the heavens opened and rain fell for the first time in any night race. The Mercedes were slightly out of position on the grid and it looked as though Vettel would sail through gaining valuable points in his bid to be champion again. Lights out and Vettel makes a poor getaway, his teammate Raikkonen has made a great start and slipped up the side so the two Ferraris are sandwiching Verstappen’s Red Bull, it looked like the Ferrari boys squeezed a little too hard and wheels collided with bodywork, Raikkonen was spun out of control and took Verstappen’s Red bull with him, not before
Driver Championship Standings
Sergio Aguero hat trick helps put Man City on the top in their victory 6-0 win over Watford turned up! Bath then lost 24-6 at Northampton to leave champions Exeter, 41-10 winners at Worcester, top of the pile. Good w/end too for Leicester as they recorded their first win of the season, 24-10 at home to Gloucester, ditto Sale as they won at home too, 36-7 o'er new boys London Irish. On the international front, in the Southern Hemisphere Championship, the All Blacks created a new record as they demolished South Africa 57-0 whilst Australia, in front of a pathetic home crowd of only 15,000, beat Argentina 45-20.
Football – City And United Neck And Neck At The Top
Yes, as a lot of us amateur footie pundits predicted, after 5 matches, Man Utd and Man City are in the top two, and only separated by the alphabet, C against U, as points and goal diff are exactly the same. City were first up on Saturday as they thumped Watford near the Gap 6-0 with an Aguero hattrick whilst United stuffed Everton 4-0 at OT, to rub salt in to Rooney's wounds, as he lost against his former club, and then was banned for 2 years from driving, and has to serve a 100 hours Community service after his red ragtop exploits a few weeks ago (nuff said!) Champions Chelsea, after 3 wins on the spin, and in 3rd, failed to score for the first time at the Bridge under Conte, as they shared the points in a feisty scoreless draw with Arsenal, in 12th, where, surprise, surprise, the Blues had another red card, the 3rd in the last 3 matches with the Gunners, as Luiz took an early bath. Elsewhere much-vaunted Liverpool and Tottenham, supposedly with the best two attacks in the league, could only manage home draws, the former 1-1 with Burnley and the latter scoreless with Swansea as they're yet to win in the Premier the pair collected an innocent Alonso, who had made an incredible start and got as high as third. Vettel carried on in the lead as Hamilton avoided the incident and moved up to second, unfortunately for Vettel, his car was damaged and he spun out, taking its nose off and forcing retirement. It was declared a racing incident, Ferrari blame Verstappen but speculation is that Vettel may have been just a little too aggressive. The first safety car was out while the debris was cleared, Hamilton leading and Ricciardo behind him in second. The race resumed on the fifth lap and as Hamilton started pulling away from Ricciardo, Kvyat made an impressive overtake followed by planting his Toro Rosso head on into the wall. Out came the second safety car, this time for a longer period while the safety barrier was repaired. On the restart, Hamilton made a great getaway from Ricciardo and again built his lead until the track was dry enough for slicks. Even after a change of boots, Ricciardo couldn’t make an impact on the Brit and again Hamilton opened up a good lead, before it was wiped out by the third safety car of the race. Ericsson crashed his Sauber on the Anderson Bridge. The race then ran to time as the two hour limit was fast approaching and Hamilton almost cruised to his 60th victory. Ricciardo took a very happy P2 for Red Bull despite having oil pressure issues and Bottas took P3, his race was pretty straightforward although his drinks system had failed and he was very dehydrated.

Palmer finally scored some points for Renault in his best ever finish, he successfully resisted attacks from Vandoorne’s
at their new home-for-the-season Wembley. Newcastle seem to have their early-season blues outta the way as they recorded a second successive win, this time 2-1 at home to Stoke, the two Wests, Ham and Bromwich, shared the points in a scoreless draw at the Hawthorns, and Bournemouth, despite going a goal down, won the battle of the South Coast as they came back to win 2-1 for their first win of the season, , Huddersfield, now in 6th, drew 1-1 at home with Leicester, and finally, poor old Roy Hodgson, as he appears to have taken on a poisoned chalice after de Boer's sacking at Crystal Palace, as he watched his new side continue their woes as they went down 1-0 at home to Southampton. Winless, point-less, goal-less, that's Palace at the moment, but why, oh why didn't chairman Parrish give de Boer more time? I mean, c'mon man, sacked after 4 matches, absolutely ridiculous. Mind you, that's the way of the footie world at the moment as proven again by those faceless morons on the Birmingham board as they sacked Our 'Arry (Redknapp) after they lost yet again, their 6th from 8. What is the football world coming to, especially as I heard this morning that England and Man U stalwart Rio Ferdinand, at the tender age of 38, is taking up professional boxing! Hmmmmm. Rio v. JT, could be an interesting bout! Finally, 'tis the 3rd Round of the formerly EFL, now Carabao Cup (used to be the plain old League Cup in my day!) when the big boys enter and some interesting matches this week: Leicester/Liverpool who meet again in the Premier on Saturday (BT Sport 1, 6.30), Burnley/Leeds, Chelsea/N.Forest, Man U/Burton etc.) That's it for this week, gotta go, people to see, places to go‌Jezza McLaren to take P6. Vandoorne finished comfortably with P7 and Stroll took P8 for Williams, both earning their highest F1 finishes. Grosjean for Haas crossed the line P9 and Ocon for Force India finished the points P10. The final two to cross the line were Massa for Williams P11 and Wehrlein’s Sauber P12. Raikkonen, Verstappen, Vettel, Kvyat, Ericsson all retired with crash damage, Alonso continued in his damaged McLaren, but was forced to eventually retire, Hulkenberg had hydraulics issues which forced him to retire and Magnusson had a problem with his MGU-K hence his retirement. Big news, well not really, McLaren are ending their relationship with Honda, as of next year McLaren will be sporting the Renault engine, the first collaboration between the two. Toro Rosso have struck a deal to put Honda’s power units in their cars but will we see the same issues as McLaren have endured? And with Renault powering the McLaren next year, engine problems should be a thing of the past. Is it enough to keep Alonso? For 2019 Red Bull will also have an engine change, Renault have told the team they will not provide the engines – so Red Bull will be sporting Honda. There are also some confirmed moves afoot, Sainz is ‘on loan’ from Toro Rosso to Renault, knocking Palmer out, then there is Williams. Robert Kubica is looking to make an F1 comeback after being seriously injured in an accident; he has Nico Rosberg in his management team and an eye on a Massa’s seat at Williams. Massa says he may move to Formula E if Williams don’t want him, and they must show him they do.
