Day of the Tourist The President of Ibiza Consell, Vicent Torres, has said that “Ibiza is enjoying one of its best seasons for tourism”. Speaking in advance of the island's annual day of the tourist, the president has drawn on air traffic statistics as the basis for his claim of a successful season.
Air Traffic Statistics The Ibizan reported on the air traffic statistics for August 2018 last week. They show a drop of 3.2% in August, the first peak season drop since 2004, although the cumulative figures for the year to date are up 2.24%. Continued on Page 2
‘Women’, Murals by Jerom, Aída Miró & Twoflü We love these public art works, Ibiza murals by Jerom, Aída Miró and Twoflü. Nick Gibbs The murals are on the walls of the sports tracks at sa bodega on calle Canarias in Ibiza Town. They were presented today by the Ibiza Town Ajuntament. The three portraits of women are from different cultures and ages, however they share a common strength of identity that, to my eye at least, has a particularly Ibizan sense about it. That could be in part due to the clever device of a common background design style and colour palette, but you could imagine all three of these women being indigenous to Ibiza at some point in its long and ethnically diverse history.
