Product Overview
SpaceX’s proposed Big Falcon Rocket would allow you to travel anywhere on Earth in under an hour. This project imagines an accompanying app which would allow users to search, book and view tickets; track flights and see in-flight telemetry.
Principles
Large scale typography and translucent background blurs help the product conform to the interface guidelines of iOS 11, and create a contemporary and engaging appearance. Card-based interaction and limited side scrolling allows for a large amount of content to be displayed in the more limited real estate of smartphone displays.
Target Audience
The product is aimed at a relatively large audience; the purpose of the project is to allow people to more easily imagine affordable, Earth-to-Earth space travel in the near-term future so it had to look grounded and practical to appeal to ordinary people, but with exciting and technical undertones to appeal to the likely foundational user base from areas such as Silicon Valley.

Space Orange is a vibrant and exciting colour with incredible contrast and legibility on dark surfaces.
Practical and Exciting
The compromise between practicality, aesthetics and usability is tough but achievable. The BFR app uses layout, colour and typography effectively to create information hierarchies and focal points without overly affecting visual integrity. Filled icons are used in place of outline icons where reduced cognitive load on the user is required.
Adaptability
An interface with an adaptable identity allows for a reduced learning curve when users switch from using your product or service on one device to the next. It also creates a stronger brand identity and sense of recognition.
