The Student Affairs Office strives to create a supportive and challenging learning environment by providing a full range of co-curricular programmes, engaging students in campus life, facilitating their all-round development and wellness, empowering teamwork and leadership, promoting civic participation, cultivating diversity and global citizenship, and enhancing employability. Scholarships & Awards HSUHK offers a wide range of scholarships and awards to its students with the aim of attracting and recruiting high calibre students, rewarding and recognizing students with outstanding performances in both academic and non-academic aspects, as well as supporting students to broaden their exposure to a multicultural environment. With generous support from the government and donors, there are increasing scholarship opportunities at HSUHK. More than 1,200 scholarships and awards, with the total value of approximately HK$22.8 million, are available to support HSUHK students annually.

Personal Growth & Counselling SAO intends to boost students’ personal development, strengthen their skills and mind for a good adaptation to university life, support students to embrace challenges, and manage their emotional well-being and stress.

HSUHK offers student exchange and global internship programmes with different international institutions and companies. Students can take these valuable opportunities to broaden their horizons, gain international exposure and enhance employability.

Global Internship Programmes The Global Internship Programmes (GIP) open up the opportunity for students to embrace and adapt to new challenges, collaborate with people from different backgrounds and gain global exposure that will help them stand out when applying for jobs after graduation. The programmes offer internship opportunities in cities around the globe, including Los Angeles, London, Frankfurt, Berlin, Sydney, Melbourne, Tokyo, Osaka, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur etc.

University YMCA Uni-YŽ is a life building process that empowers, equips and prepares students to become future leaders with global visions and perspectives. University YMCAŽ (HSUHK) strives for nurturing a balanced development in students’ spirit, mind and body, in compliance with the mottos of the Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, in addition to fulfilling the mission statement of the Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong.

ICAC Ambassador Programme Starting from 2013/14, HSUHK partners with the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) and participates in the ICAC Ambassador Programme to enhance students' awareness of anticorruption and personal integrity. It provides students with the opportunities to understand the mission of ICAC, explore topics of integrity and commitment, and enhance their capabilities to conduct collaborative promotion activities. By joining the programme, students will be able to demonstrate their creativity in organising campus activities, gain a sense of achievement from teamwork and meet with new friends from other institutions.

Residential Colleges

Residential life is a crucial part of whole personal education in the University. Our unique Residential Colleges System (RC

System) offers an ideal living and learning community for students to develop a strong support network to their study and personal development and to gain cross-cultural experiences. VolTrekkers Service-learning Award and Training Scheme Service-learning is a pedagogy that combines academic curriculum with meaningful community services. VolTrekkers is a programme organised by SAO and supported by Hong Kong Shun Lung Yan Chak Foundation ( 香 港順龍仁澤基金會) aiming at providing solid service-learning experiences to our students and fostering them to become global citizens. Students can develop and implement their own service plans with the support and guidance of SAO.

Students who achieve the highest degree of impact on society and learning reflection will be eligible to join an overseas service-learning trip organised by SAO.

HSUHK Volunteer Team

The Team provides opportunities to students to practice community engagement. Beyond participation in community services, comprehensive trainings on service skills and sharing by various non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are offered to students for enhancing their social awareness and responsibilities and skills for serving others. To encourage more student-led service projects in the University, HSUHK Volunteer Team is restructured into a Student Organising Committee (OC) in 2016/17. The OC will initiate plans and coordinate service projects for the HSUHK community. Students work with NGOs to organise volunteer services and actively engage themselves in service planning and volunteer management.

HSUHK Wu Zhi Qiao Team

In collaboration with the Wu Zhi Qiao (Bridge to China) Charitable Foundation, HSUHK Wu Zhi Qiao was established in 2014 as one of the Wu Zhi Qiao University Teams. Since its establishment, HSUHK Wu Zhi Qiao Team has been engaging in various site investigations and construction projects, to help enhance the living environment of the underprivileged in remote villages in Mainland China. Besides building footbridges and facilities, the team also reaches out to the local villagers, building spiritual bridges of love and care. The team is also devoted to promoting Wu Zhi Qiao and their project mission on campus through participating in various University -wide events and, holding sharing sessions and encouraging active participation of HSUHKers in service projects in China.

Peer Mentor Scheme - spreading love and positive energy on campus The Scheme was launched in 2015, aiming at training up a group of students to become Peer Mentors. A series of systemic training programmes are hosted by counsellors of HSUHK to facilitate the Peer Mentors’ helping skills.

HSUHK Cultural Groups To expand students' cultural horizons and cultivate their artistic appreciation and expression, HSUHK Cultural Groups serve as a platform to promote the cohesion of young talents in HSUHK. Students of the registered cultural groups will have opportunities to develop and showcase their talents in University events, represent HSUHK in open competitions and build connection with other tertiary institutions. Through participating in performances and competitions, students will be able to demonstrate their creativity, interact with outstanding performers and enhance their arts and cultural literacy.

A Cappella Group HSUHK A Cappella Group was established in 2017/18, aiming to gather the singing talents on campus. Members are selected from auditions conducted by a professional instructor. Under the instructor’s dynamic and professional training, members are equipped with the skills on vocal singing and teamwork.

Sinfonietta It is a group of students with a strong passion in music, with the aim to promote interest in orchestra music within the HSUHK community. Working towards a professional orchestra, the collaboration with the Conductor continues to reach new heights. Since its establishment, HSUHK Sinfonietta has performed in various University events and ceremonies, e.g. Convocation for New Students and Graduation Ceremony. The team also reached out to the public and performed in public events on festive occasions.

Cantonese Debating Team The Team consists of a group of students who are passionate in debating activities. Members are committed to joining weekly practice and meetings to sharpen their debating skills and initiate plans for future development of the team. To widen their exposure to open competitions, the team invites other university debating teams to join friendly matches.

Putonghua Debating Team Consisting of around 40 members in the team, all are active and passionate to debate local issues in Putonghua. Besides regular practices, the team has participated in external competitions, such as the JointTertiary Institution Putonghua Debate Competition organised by RTHK.
