FORMWORK REQUIRED. CONSTRUCTION METHOD : THE CIRCULAR STRUCTURE IS NOT SET PRECISELY AT THE SITE, THE GLASS ROOF HAS A GEOMETRIC FORM. THE DOUBLE-CURVED STEEL FRAMEWORK WAS DELIVERED IN SEGMENTS AND JOIN TOGETHER ON SITE. TO AVOID APPLYING ANY SIDEWAYS LOAD , THE ROOF IS SUPPORTED TO SLIDING BEARINGS. THESE ALLOW THE STRUCTURE TO MOVE NATURALLY. THE GLASS AND STEEL ROOF IS MADE OF STEEL MEMBER CONNECTED AT NODES AND FLASS WINDOW PANELS AND MAKING UP WITH GLAZING. EACH OF A UNIQUE SHAPE BECAUSE OF THE UNDULATING NATURE OF THE ROOF.

STRUCTURAL
FRAMING
LIGHT TIMBER FRAME
LIGHT TIMBER FRAMING IS CHOSEN BECAUSE IT IS LIGHT AND SLLOW QUICK CONSTRUCTION WITH NO HEAVY TOOLS OR EQUIPMENT. THE MAIN TOOL IS A HANDHELD NAIL GUN. CONSTRUCTION METHOD : SET UP THE FOUNDATION, ERECT THE TIMBER COLUMN
AND THE R.CONCRETE SLAB PLATFORM. BUILD
ALL THE COLUMNS AND ERECT THE BEAMS
CONNECTED TO THE COLUMNS SIDE BY SIDE BY USING THE L BRACKET AND NAIL IT TOGETHER. THIS STRUCTURE WAS WITHOUT ANY ROOFING.
PAD
FOUNDATION
Reason of choosing pad foundation: Pad foundations is chosen as there is clay soil on site, it is a harder in nature. The soil condition is good enough to withstand the load of building without piercing into the hard strata. The pad footing is used because the soil bearing on the site is high. Pad footing is usually wider to increase surface area in contact with the soil to take the load of the structure. Pad foundation is a shallow foundation and a form of spread foundation formed by rectangular, square, or sometimes circular concrete ‘pads’ that support localised single-point loads such as structural columns, groups of columns or framed structures. This load is then spread by the pad to the bearing layer of soil or rock below. Pad foundations can also be used to support ground beams.

CURTAIN WALL SYSTEM IS AT THE ZONE HIGHLIGHTED ABOVE. IT IS AN OUTER COVERING OF A BUILDING IN WHICH THE OUTER WALL ARE NONSTRUCTURAL, UTILIZED ONLY TO KEEP THE WEATHER OUT AND THE OCCUPANTS IN. IT ALLOW LIGHT PENEETRATE WITHIN THE BUILDING. THE CURTAIN WALL SYSTEM ARE DESIGNED WITH EXTRUDED ALUMINIUM FRAMING MEMBERS WITH THE TECHNIQUE OF STEEL GRID SHELL STRUCTURAL FRAMING CONCEPT.
GREEN
ROOFING
ZONE OF GREEN ROOFING GREEN ROOFING IS USED ON THE HIGHLIGHTED AREA. IT IS COMPLETELY COVERED WITH VEGETATION AND GROWING MEDIUM, PLANTED OVER A
WATERPROOFING MEMBRANE. IT ALSO INCLUDE TOO BARRIER, DRAINAGE AND IRRIGATION SYSTEM. GREEN ROOFING SERVED SEVERAL PURPOSE SUCH AS ABSORBING RAINWATER, PROVIDING INSULATION, INCREASING BENEVOLENCE AND DECREASING STREE OF THE PEOPLE AROUND THE ROOF BY PROVIDING A MORE AESTHETICALLY PLEASING LANDSCAPE, AND HELPING TO LOWER URBAN AIR TEMPERATURES AND MITIGATE THE HEAT ISLAND EFFECT.

NANYANG TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY (NTU) SCHOOL OF SRT, DESIGN AND MEDIA (ADM) THE KEY FEATURE OF THE BUILDING DESIGN IS THE GREEN ROOF THAT SLOPE ALMOST AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE. FORMED BY 2 SLOPING, TAPERING ACRS THAT INTERLOCK WITH A THIRD, SMALLER ARC, THE ROOF OF THE SCHOOL OF ART, DESIGN, AND MEDIA WAS CAST IN HEAVILY RIBBED, REINFORCED CONCRETE. BEYONG BEING AN AESTHETIC FEATURE THAT DOUBLES AS A SCENIC OUTDOOR COMMUNAL SPACE, THE GREEN ROOFS KEEP THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE LOW AND REDUCE HEAT IN THE DAYTIME. GREEN ROOF:-
VERDANT TURFED ROOF BLENDS INTO THE LUSH GREENERY AND ENVRONMENT
-
TURFED LANDSCAPE AS SCENIC OUTDOOR COMMUNAL SPACE
-
GREEN ROOF LOWER BOTH TOOF TEMP. AND AMBIENT TEMPERATURE HENCE REDUCE HEAT GAIN TO THE AIR CONDITIONED BUILDING.
-
THE BUILDING IS ORIENTED WITH ITS FACADES FACING NORTH AND SOUTH TO MINIMIZE SOLAR GAIN
-
HIGH EFFICIENCY DISCHARGE LIGHTS ARE ADOPTED THROUGHOUT THE BUILDING
-
THE RAINWATER COLLECTION SYSTEM IS FITTED ON THE GREEN ROOF FOR IRRIGATION
-
THE RAIN SENSOR ARE INSTALLED ON THE GREEN ROOF TO AUTOMATE THE IRRIGATION PROCESS
-
THE CURVED BUILDING IS EMBRACING A COURTYARD WITH WATER FEATURES AND PLANTS.
THE GREEN ROOF AND HIGH PERFORMANCE GLASS AS WELL AS THE USE OF CARBON DIOXIDE SENSORS IN ITS AIR-HANDLING UNITS HELP TO REDUCE ENERGY USED AND MAINTAIN A HEALTHY INDOOR AIR QUALITY.

CONSTRUCTION AND INTERIOR OF HOUSE. IT IS BECAUSE IT IS A
TRANSLUCENT MATERIAL, GLASS ISAPPLIED IN SOME STRATEGIC POINTS TO MAKE THE ENVIRONMENTS FUNCTIONAL AND COZY. GLASS ROOFING IS ENERGY-SAVING, PROTECTION AGAINST UV RAYS, LOW MAINTAINANCE AND THE AMPLITUDE OF SPACE. TEMPERED GLAZE-TYPE GLASS IS CHOSEN TO USE.
CASE STUDY OF GLASS ROOFING CHADSTONE SHOPPING CENTRE, MELBOURNE. CHADSTONE INCLUDED CONSTRUCTION OF AN EXCEPTIONAL STEEL-AND-
GLASS ROOF WITH A TOTAL AREA OF 7,080SQM. TWO KEY FEATURES OF THE DESIGN ARE ITS OPEN STYLE, WITH A GALLERY-TYPE SECOND FLOOR, AND THE HIGH, DOME-LIKE GLASS ROOF THAT ALLOWS PLENTY OF DAYLIGHT TO REACH BOTH FLOORS. THE GLASS ROOF HAS TO FOLLOW THE LINE OF THE SHOPPING MALLS BELLOW AND SO THE RESULT IS A COMPLEX FREE-FORM GRIDSHELL WITH SPANS OF UP TO 44M.
CONSTRUCTION PROCESS
01
THE PREASSEMBLED FRAMES, MEASURING UP TO 18M LONG, WERE TRANSPORTED DIRECTLY TO THE BUILDING SITE AS OVERSIZE LOADS ON HGVs.
02
03
04
THE ACCURATELY FABRICATED STEEL STRUCTURE PREASSEMBLED BY SEELE WAS POSITIONED ON THE BUILDING SITE ACCORDING TO VERY TIGHT TOLERANCES.
LIFTING QUIPMENT SPECIALLY DESIGNED BY SEELE WAS THEN USED TO LIFT THE FRAMES DIRECTLY FROM THE VEHICLES AND INTO THE CORRECT POSITION.
ALL THE MEMBERS FOR THE 7,080SQM GRIDSHELL WERE DELIVERED TO THE PREASSEMBLY BY SEA IN 65 CONTAINERS.
ZINC

THROUGHOUT
THE
DOCUMENTATION OF THIS DESIGN PROJECT. RAW MATERIAL ARE USED TO PROVIDE ARCHITECTURAL EXPERIENCES IN THE SPACE. THE BUILDING’S USES AND FUNCTIONS DEFINE ITS FORM AND ITS IDENTITY. THE INTEGRATED DESIGN APPROACH, INVOLVING BOTH STRUCTURAL ENGINERRING AND ARCHITECTURAL CONCEPTION, HAS ALLOWED FOR THE STRUCTURE TO BE CONSCIOUSLY EXPRESSED. THE MATERIALS ARE UNFINISHED, SIMPLE AND NATURAL: SIGNS OF BASIC COMFORT AND DURABILITY.
