The Brief - Dr Me Create a Flag
DR.ME is a creative studio made up of two friends Ryan Doyle (DR) & Mark Edwards (ME) collaborating across Design, Illustration & Art projects. Work together to create your own flag. Be experimental remember it does not necessarily have to look like a traditional flag but keep in mind what makes a flag a flag... only rule is it must be rectangular. You must be able to scan your flag for printing. Either in sections or as a whole.
You can use any medium - paint, collage, ink, photo or a mix of everything. It could be built up in blocks. It could be one collaborative drawing. It could be a twist on the traditional aspects of a flag. It’s up to both of you to decide. Figure out what each others strengths and weaknesses are. Don’t be too precious about your own work, that’s the fun in collaboration, with two people working together the results are always
unexpected but there in lies the beauty. Once you have your flag scanned in to your computer here you have a chance to play with colour , try not to do too much digital manipulation though.

Concept - Combining Art & Science
Ganesha is the Indian God of Science and Art. Luke and I felt that this was a perfect idea as he has a kean interest in science and I love art and also have a love for elephants. We also felt that we could produce some strong visuals from this concept.
Above is the flower of life which is one of the sacred geometries. The flower of life and other sacred geometries represent ancient spiritual beliefs. This idea fits in well with the Ganesha as that also has links with spirituality.
The fibonacci sequence.

Artwork
Dr Me loved my illustration of the Ganesha so we have decided to use this rather than completely vector art like we originally planned. I have a personal preference of hand-rendered illustration anyway, however Luke does not so we decided to compromise and have a collage of both vector and hand-rendered.
Luke created the planets you can see above, they are in orbit. I think the contrast of the vector and illustration works well. Luke has also used a gradient succesfully here. This also represents science.
