Chicaloyoh (FR) 19:45 The Other Sound

www.chicaloyoh.bandcamp.com

The French Alice Dourle plays percussions, keyboards, guitar and organs while singing with an almost pastoral verve. The minimalist and intimate soundscapes of Chicaloyoh combined with her simultaneously tender and strong voice are the foundation for Dourle’s avant-garde mantras.

Dalindèo (FI) 17:30 Main Stage

www.dalindeo.com

Now this is a soup worth tasting: mix the golden age of jazz clubs with the melancholy instrumental rock of twangy guitars and stir. The result is the new album from one of the freshest and most charming acts in Finnish jazz, Dalindèo. On Kallio, their second album, friends of carefree rhythms as well as critics were spellbound.

Parquet Courts (US) 20:45 Black Tent

www.parquetcourts.wordpress.com

What’s left of the DIY underground of the U.S? It’s not dead at least with Parquet Courts carrying the torch of the tradition with its ruckus and roll. The band’s intense garage sound has won it friends beyond the traditional punk crowds. And there is no end in sight to its upward trajectory.

Paska Sohva (FI) 16:30 Champagne Bar & Lounge

Taking their pick from 80s synth pop, indie rock and the tight basslines of contemporary rhythms, the Paska Sohva djs are known for their uncompromising sense of style as well as their shows on the Basso radio station. Expect unforgettable moments that disregard genre limits.

Sounds Like Kotibileet (FI) 21:00 Champagne Bar & Lounge

Expect the most intense rhythm music from rap to disco and modern electro to restless dance, and be entertained, when the Sounds Like Kotibileet (Sounds Like a House Party) duo Stig-1 and Jaffa drop their shamelessly mixed bag of tracks on the festival crowd. The Champagne Bar & Lounge will be infected with the atmosphere of a house party that got out of hand.

Tavastian Lauantaidisko (FI) 23:00 Champagne Bar & Lounge

The Saturdays at Helsinki’s most legendary live venue have been the territory of Lauantaidisko (Saturday Disco) in recent years. It’s all about the classics of indie, pop and rock mixed together with the latest hits chosen with a taste-god touch and pacesetter vision. And that will also apply when djs Erkko, Harvest and Marko Makelove select the tracks for their Flow set, which will play like a symphony of a neverending weekend.

SATURDAY 09.08.2014

Aino Venna (FI) 16:00 Balloon 360° Stage

www.ainovenna.com

One of the Finnish indie scene’s most recent success stories, Aino Venna finds inspiration from smokey bars, cabaret moods and the rich tradition of black and white films to create her stormy and melancholy sounds. Her debut album Marlene won people over and she has also impressed with her band and their jaunty gigs.

Âme (GER) 00:00 RBMA Backyard

If you ever need to win an argument, where someone is claiming that no one can fill a dancefloor with ambition, mention Åme. Producer-dj Frank Wiedemann has been entrancing clubbers for the last decade with his mastery of soulful deep house, and also worked with his fellow producer Kristian Bayer at the core of the influential Innervisions collective, releasing records, art and leading different kinds of creative projects all about producing music.

Beach House (US) 00:00 Nokia Blue Tent

www.beachhousebaltimore.com

The dreamy pop music of Beach House has found the band knocking on the doors of mainstream success. The albums Teen Dream and Bloom, released on the legendary Sub Pop label, have made the duo one of the most successful indie groups of recent years. In the past few years Beach House have developed their misty sound near to perfection winning over both critics and audiences. At the Flow Festival the band’s streamlined live show will be built around the visual identity of Bloom.

Black Lizard (FI) 16:30 Black Tent

This is what the marriage of rowdy garage rock and hypnotically psychedelic atmospheres sounds like. Black Lizard has raised expectations through the roof with its uncompromising gigs as well as its eponymous debut EP recorded in 2012 for UK-based Fuzz Club Records. The self- titled debut album, released earlier this year, made Black Lizard one of the most interesting Finnish indie acts.

Lieminen (FI) 19:30 Heineken O.S.S

The closest thing to Andrew W.K. that Finland has to offer. The one man band known for his sentimental but brutally energetic output becomes a six member supergroup on stage.

Lil Tony (FI) 21:00 RBMA Backyard

Some firestarter this guy, a true legend of going out in Finland. Toni “Lil Tony” Rantanen has been there to found places such as Kuudes Linja, Kaiku, Ääniwalli, Redrum, Kerma and Rose Garden. He has connected together the tradition of warehouse parties and the coolness of modern electronic music taking this artist/ producer across the world from Tokyo to Miami, while releasing his tracks on respectable labels such as Mood Music, Versatile and Innervision.

SUNDAY 10.08.2014

Angel Haze (US) 16:30 Black Tent

www.angelhazemusic.com

Picking her relentless self-confidence and verbal mastery from the rich urban music roots of New York and Detroit, Angel Haze has just in few years become one of the most talked about new faces in the rap game. With last year’s release of her EP “New York” and ruthless live shows, she is set to get the full backing of both critics and fans where ever she blasts her rhymes at.

Antero Lindgren (FI) 14:15 Nokia Blue Tent

www.anterolindgren.com

The dusky mountains of the tv-series Twin Peaks create unyielding memories of yearning and other-worldliness just like Antero Lindgren’s songs. The man continues to rip new tones from his dark and pared down songs as he proves again on his second album Talking the Dead released in May. He is one of Finland’s most unique new singer-songwriters.

Ionik (FI) Boiler Room Set 15:25 Nokia Garage

For over 15 years DJ Ionik has been gifting his audiences with finetuned selections of disco and soulful boogie music. At the Boiler Room the mastermind behind the praised Traveller and Kojak Giant Sounds labels will turn the heat up with another one of his carefully planned rhythm attacks.

Jacco Gardner (NL) 16:00 Balloon 360째 Stage

www.jaccogardner.com

Show us the way in European art pop, Jacco Gardner. The Dutch multiinstrumentalist is the newfound master of baroque pop and new psychedelia. He twists music into fantastically big and hypnotically melodic pieces, where one charming snapshot after the other is weaved alternately with synths and with flutes.

Veli-Matti O Äijälä ja The Kolmas (FI) 19:30 The Other Sound

The singer of the legendary northern Finnish punk band Terveet kädet, Läjä Äijälä, has been a member of several bands including Billy Boys Death Trip, Leo Bugariloves and Sultans of Swing. His set at this year’s Flow Festval will feature material from his Raskas taakka LP, which is an extremely minimalist piece of work and true to its name – Heavy Burden – on so many levels.

We Love Helsinki (FI) 14:00 Champagne Bar & Lounge

Finnish evergreens and golden age classics will grace Flow’s Sunday, thanks to the We Love Helsinki DJs. Expect easy-on-the-foot waltzes, seductive tangos, swinging jazz, wild twist, raunchy rock’n’roll, hot translated pop and rock classics, and dizzying Finnish disco. DJs will be playing all day until midnight.
