For the Skin

By Drew Leahy

What’s your SEACRET™?

Skin care companies constantly reinvent themselves with the latest skin care techniques and emerging technologies in order to sustain a competitive edge in a competitive market, and better fulfill their obligation to the global demand for youthful radiance. In an era where “age-defying” seems to be the go to catch-phrase for everything from lotions to lingerie, companies across the globe laboriously scramble to make their “age-defying” products better. In order to help their products better combat aging, SEACRET™ went straight to one of the world’s first health resorts dating back to biblical times, and one of the saltiest bodies of water on Earth: the Dead Sea. Deep below the salty waters of the Dead Sea, SEACRET™ extracts compositions of natural minerals unique to this sea, created by dissolving salts during evaporation. Of the twenty-six minerals found in the sand below its surface, twelve of them are exclusive to the Dead Sea - no other place on earth contains these minerals. What’s so important about these minerals? Well for starters, skin relies on the absorption of minerals (which are not created by the body) for healthy skin revitalization. The minerals found in the Dead Sea are known to have unique qualities such as giving a feeling of relaxation, healing and nourishing the skin. For centuries now, the Dead Sea has been a home for researchers seeking the therapeutic benefits of its many natural resources, and SEACRET™ stands by the Dead Sea minerals for their effectiveness to heal skin. SEACRET™ offers everything from day and night moisturizers, mineralrich refining toner, facial cleansing milk, peeling gel, eye cream, and mud masks. They also offer body lotions, hand creams, body butter, foot cream, and mineral soaps all of which include the unique minerals of the Dead Sea. SEACRET™ also offers a unique line of age-defying cosmetics that promise to restore your skin to its natural look and replenish skin for a smoother, younger appearance. Perhaps the most intriguing of the products SEACRET™ offers is the Dead Sea mud mask, which uses actual minerals from the mud found at the Dead Sea. Even more intriguing, the mud formed at the Dead Sea banks is actually alluvial silt deposited on the shores of the sea from the mountains surrounding it. More importantly, the silt contains high concentrations of calcium, potassium, magnesium, and iron, all of which SEACRET™ harnesses for its skin care mud mask. If your skin is feeling dry and is in search of more intense hydration, SEACRET™ may be just what you’re looking for. Furthermore, SEACRET™ prides itself on total transparency and honesty with the customer, and provides detailed descriptions of every ingredient used in its skin maintenance cosmetics so you’re not left questioning what is being applied to the skin. Check out www.seacretdirect.com to learn more about this innovative skin care company and what it has to offer.

Legendary Burger

he Counter in Newport Beach has an interesting, engaging concept. When you sit down to eat, a server delivers a menu and a clipboard with a pencil. Hmm... Is the server too lazy to take your order? No! It’s for you to create your own masterpiece of a burger. By checking off the boxes next to any ingredient you could possibly want between two buns, creating a one of a kind burger has never been easier. There are over 100,000 different burger possibilities. Along with a full bar and a variety of beers on tap and in bottles, The Counter makes for a fun night out, whether it be on a date or with friends.

Pictured is a Bleu Cheese, bacon, mushroom burger with caramelized onions and lettuce. If this burger doesn’t get your mouth watering, there are still 99,999 other possibilities, including turkey burgers and veggie burgers. Stop by The Counter and have fun making a masterpiece burger!

The Legendary Burger features a proprietary blend of grilled Certified Angus Beef topped with seasoned bacon, two slices of Cheddar cheese, a crisp fried onion ring, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. This burger is amazingly juicy and flavorful and the bacon is a great touch. A surprisingly delicious burger, it most definitely lives up to the legend.

he Hard Rock will completely surprise and thwart all preconceived notions of concept eateries. Located at the Hollywood & Highland Center, beside the worldfamous Kodak Theater, and just steps away from Hollywood’s starry Walk of Fame, the 20,000-square-foot Hard Rock Cafe on Hollywood Boulevard is the latest in Hard Rock’s concept driven design evolution. Seek a reprieve from traditional casual dining for an experience showcasing delectable mouthwatering items from Hard Rock’s scratch-based menu, spacious seating, live music area, vibrant bar, and two Rock Shops where you can find all sorts of awesome rock memorabilia.

T

he Father’s Office is one of the most unique restaurants in Southern California. It started the Gastro Pub craze that swept the Southland. The dining area is first come first serve seating, on long friendly tables. The countless beers on tap are all top notch and the food is excellent. The beet salad and the bone marrow are local favorites, but the burger is famous. The Famous Father Office Burger is a patty of fine dry-aged beef topped with caramelized onions, Gruyère and Maytag cheeses, applewood-smoked bacon compote and arugula served on a soft roll. Beware though, there are no substitutions and no ketchup, so you’ll have to enjoy your burger just the way the chef intended (don’t worry it’s easy to do). You’ll find this burger on top of nearly all the “best burger” lists in LA, because it’s just that good.

he much anticipated Drago Centro has opened in downtown Los Angeles. Drago Centro is the new luxury dining Italian restaurant. It offers a broad variety of dining styles from intimate tables, to large family style tables, to outdoor dining that includes a large outdoor lounge and dramatic canopy. The bar and lounge is a destination spot where patrons can experience amazing wines, cocktails and small bites. Through the outdoor lounge (and separate from the building) resides an old bank vault that has been transformed into a demonstration kitchen that also serves as a venue for private events and wine tastings. The service at Drago Centro is as good as it gets; very attentive and knowledgeable. The food takes classic Italian and mixes some current artistry to create a memorable experience, most notably their scallop dish. The diver scallops are paired with acini di pepe, English peas, salsify, and olives making a combination that is absolutely delicious.

Whether it’s fate, dedication, or just plain perseverance, Valentino remains one of the most beloved restaurants in LA. Despite disagreeing partners, earthquakes, recessions, and competition, Valentino’s has been a mainstay almost thirty-five years and counting. Now under Chef Nico Chessa’s reign and a wine list that is considered one of Southern California’s best, the restaurant is doing better than ever.

We suggest bringing friends and trying all of the above, but make sure you save room for the LOBSTAH. This dish resonates with Roy Cho’s cook shop attitude, a whole lobster split down the middle, grilled over a barbecue and smothered in butter, all spice and lime.

his restaurant came from truly humble beginnings, and is an authentic tale of the American dream. Opened in a former dive bar by two partners with 5,000 dollars each, the eatery came to life next to an auto shop and a red light hotel. Not exactly the best demographic. Fortunately for Valentino’s, they received a favorable write up by the Los Angeles Times, and it changed their outlook tremendously. The restaurant became all the buzz and the rest was history.

n the corner of Venice and Marina Del Rey, there is an awesome restaurant called Sunny Spot. Think roadside cook shop. The team is made up of successful restaurateurs, including Roy Choi who recently found culinary fame with A-Frame, Alibi Room, Chego and the legendary Kogi Truck. Sunny Spot is truly a foodies place to eat. No frills and unpretentious, the food comes out in no particular order and you can eat certain dishes with your hands. The Menu includes double-fried jerk chicken, brown sugar short ribs, and the hot and crusty Cubano, jammed with pig’s feet terrine and hit with mustard.

If you’re lucky enough to experience Valentino, try the Seafood Risotto. It’s made with calamari, sea urchin, shrimp and scallops, and is wonderful.

As for the food, Chi Dynasty combines traditional fare with a contemporary approach to serve wonderful Chinese food. The Chinese Chicken Salad is a crisp treat. This salad is light and healthy and has so many flavors; it’s hard to take it all in. If you’ve never been to a real Chinese restaurant, do yourself a favor and go to Chi Dynasty.

One of the great Asian style dishes in Orange County are the Saigon Rolls at Starfish. It contains wild gulf shrimp, vermicelli rice noodles, grilled asparagus, Asian herbs, and a peanut hoisin dipping sauce. This is a wonderful light dish to start summer off right.

efore Wok Man and Panda Express, Chinese food was served on plates, and presented with chopsticks secured by rubber bands. Believe it or not there are still a few great Chinese Restaurants in Southern California where you can really dine, and Chi Dynasty is on the top of the list. It’s been a staple for over twenty-seven years in Los Feliz, and has a long-standing reputation for exemplary service, value, and delectable Chinese cuisine. The décor alone is worth a visit.

The bar boasts a tequila list that is quite impressive, filled with artisan and popular spirits alike. As you can imagine, with great tequila comes great Margaritas. Red Medicine [Beverly Hills]

8400 Wilshire Blvd, CA 90211 | 323.651.5500 | www.redmedicinela.com By Jeff Fliegler Red Medicine is a Vietnamese restaurant in Beverly Hills. But it isn’t your typical Vietnamese restaurant, by any stretch of the imagination. The chef is not trying to replicate any classic Vietnamese food. In fact, they are using the cuisine they admire most as inspiration to make all new culinary masterpieces, and the food and drinks are absolute works of art. The cocktail #49 is made with Leblon, Rhubarb, Lime, Ginger Ale, Orange Peel and Lavender. Leblon is one of the highest regarded liquors from Brazil made from natural cane Cachaca. This is one example of a cocktail at Red Medicine, that’s as appealing to the eye as it is to the taste. The cocktails are constantly changing so if they don’t have cocktail #49 the night that you are there, don’t worry. There will be plenty of new flavors to try.

Featured Tequilas

TEQUILA

Tequila brings various images to mind. Whether partaking in shots over Cinco de Mayo or slowly enjoying the subtleties a fine tequila has to offer, there’s no dispute it’s a delicious alcoholic beverage and the proud “national drink of Mexico.” Made from the Agave plant, the process of making tequila takes patience, as the plant can grow up to 15 feet tall, and must be aged according to the type of tequila being made. It’s a good idea to know what the qualities of the best premium tequilas are, and we’ve done the homework for you. By Amanda Warlick

Camarena Reposado Tequila

is made directly from the nectar of the most premium Blue Agave plants sourced in the Los Altos Highlands region of Jalisco, Mexico. Optimal aroma and flavor development of the agave is achieved through traditional volcanic oven slow-roasting and small-batch, pot-still distillation. To achieve its reposado designation, the tequila rests for two months in American oak barrels, imparting the perfect balance of a soft spice flavor and richly toasted agave sweetness. While enjoying the delightful taste of 100% agave Camarena, you’ll experience a naturally smooth finish without the burning sensation typically associated with other popular tequilas.

Partida Añejo is a rare premium spirit, based on the fact that it is aged to perfection for 18 months. To ensure a fuller, riper and richer flavor, Partida allows the agave to grow seven to ten years to mature fully. After harvest the agave is baked 20 to 24 hours to soften the fibers and transform carbohydrates into fermentable sugars. The tequila is distilled once for purification and a second time to illuminate all imperfections. The result of Partida Añejo is a golden colored, fruity aroma with tastes of spices and dried fruits. All this hard work is rewarded with a smooth, delicious finish. Tres Sietes Silver uses a modernized distillation process, paired with rigorous attention to old world methods. The fabrica located in the highland area uses 100% Blue Agave and was the first to use a diffuser brought over from Spain, which allows the agave to cook more evenly in its initial stage from the traditional wood burning methods. The agave plants are steamed, extracting even more flavor from the agave. Tres Sietes Tequila’s is distilled with natural spring water using state-of-the-art technology combined with age old family Mexican tradition.

Tres Sietes Silver Tequila has balanced hints of sweet brown sugar and citrus, combined with cucumber and peppered peaches. Tres Sietes is more than three lucky numbers, it symbolizes purity, balance, and versatility, making it natures purest spirit.

What is Tequila made from? Tequila is made from the agave plant. Because of its prickly texture, many people assume that an agave plant is a cactus, but that’s not the case. Most importantly, the blue agave plant is the source of premium Tequila.

What is the difference between Tequila and Mezcal? Tequila is a type of Mezcal made in the Tequila region of Mexico with strict production designations specific to the region.

What’s the story with the worm? Some Tequila and Mezcal producers began inserting a worm into the bottle as a marketing gimmick. However, quality Tequilas have always been worm-free!

on’t mistake 2nd Floor for your average Huntington Beach restaurant and bar. This rocking establishment blends killer food with an artistic appeal that attracts a crowd on a daily basis.

Coming up on two years of business this June, 2nd Floor continues to share artistic masterpieces at their Thursday night art shows, created by artists that are mostly local to the Orange County area. Thursdays are not the only day to view the fabulous artwork. The walls are covered by a variety of illustrations, all with the common theme of tattoos. If a particular piece strikes a customers fancy, they can purchase it right off the wall and 100% of the sales go directly to the artist. The employees are also dressed to match the décor of the restaurant. Covered in all black and a few added accessories to flare up their uniform, many employees show off their own body art. 2nd Floor also has a phenomenal menu with items such as the monstrous colossal Sailor Jerry Burger consisting of the burger itself, pork, teriyaki, pineapple, onion rings, spicy cheese sauce and fried egg. There is also the recommended favorite Fish Sliders, consisting of freshly blackened tilapia. The huge variety on the menu allows for everyone’s cravings to be satisfied. 2nd Floor even provides a vegan and vegetarian menu. Although some may perceive 2nd Floor to cater to the 21 and older late night party demographic, the restaurant is very welcoming to families as well. On Tuesdays kids are able to eat free with the purchase of an adult meal. Tuesdays are not the only special days provided by 2nd Floor. If you have ever visited Bounce Restaurant & Sports Lounge, Vero Uptown, or Vero Midtown in Upper East Side or Midtown East, then you can be assured that Bounce Sporting Club will surpass all your expectations, because they are all operated by the same successful owners. Bounce Sporting Club is a man’s dream come true. Show up early and watch five different games going on all at once, on the many television sets the club has provided. Grab some grub and beers, sit back, relax, and jam out later in the evening with tunes provided by live performers. Movers and shakers Featured Bartender Tyrone Loukas By Heidi Darby Consider Tyrone Loukas one of the main attractions at Carlos’n Charlies, the newest hot spot Cantina on the Las Vegas strip. Born and raised in Vegas, Tyrone grew up watching his father bartend and after breaking into the industry as server, happily followed in his father’s footsteps. NiteGuide caught up with the handsome drink slinger (his customers refer to him as Superman or Kal) to learn more about what it’s like to bartend in Sin City. NiteGuide Magazine: What’s the pace like at Carlos’n Charlie’s? Tyrone Loukas: Carlos’n Charlie’s pace is two faced. [Laughing] During the day it is moderate due to the families and seasoned folk that partake in our great food. Then the 5:30 – 6:00 p.m. crowd comes along and “moderate” slowly turns into “mischievous.” With the help from our DJ, free shots and bartenders dancing on the bar, the atmosphere turns into a rambunctious, loudmouthed, rowdy crowd.

NGM: Working in Vegas must produce some interesting nights at the office. Do you have any stories you could share with us? TL: Yes, I have many stories, but you know I can’t tell. Remember, what happens in Vegas, starts with me.

are the one-stop-shop for the “what’s going down in Vegas” info. It also helps that I was born and raised here in Vegas, so when the old timers sit at my bar I’m able to take them down memory lane with the way Vegas used to be.

NGM: What are your most/least favorite drinks to make? TL: My least favorite drink to make is a Mojito. Anytime you have to muddle when you’re five deep, it interrupts the flow. My favorite drink to make would have to be a Long Island. I like to watch the customers smile when I pour four bottles at once, plus it’s a good indicator that you’re about to have a good time at Carlos’n Charlie’s.

NGM: Where and when can our readers find you slinging drinks? TL: You can find me at either one of Carlos’n Charlie’s astounding bars. Inside or out, day or night.

NGM: Have you built a relationship with any of your customers? TL: I try to build a relationship with all my customers. As a bartender in Vegas, I know that we

Michael James By Allie Imai

Michael James is an unstoppable man with a mission to be heard. With a constant heavy tour schedule across North America, this young producer has built an impressive list of gigs including Winter Music Conference, Ultra Music Festival, and multiple residencies in Scottsdale, Arizona. His dynamic, percussion-heavy sets are raising standards and dropping jaws from state to state, leaving each venue with more fans than he entered with. NiteGuideMagazine: Where are you from, and where do you live now? Michael James: I’m originally from Miami, but I’ve moved several times since. I lived in Tucson for 7 years, then moved to Scottsdale where I still reside, as well as also having a place in Huntington Beach. NGM: Where did your love of music begin? MJ: Hard to say, I was raised by my mother and grandparents who had very different tastes in music. As far back as I can remember I’ve always been heavily influenced by music. All types.

NGM: What type of music do you create, specifically? MJ: I’ve always tried to have percussive influences in anything I’m working on. There are many sub-genres of house I like, and try to blend them together. My vision is Techy, Tribalish, Vocalish, Electro Infused, House.

NGM: What is the most memorable show you have ever played? MJ: This may sound stupid but, I miss the underground after hours shows I used to throw in Tucson way back in the day. We’d stop at 7a.m. with a packed house and everyone in the room chanting my name. Pretty epic.

NGM: Who are your influences? MJ: Well, to name a “few”... Danny Tenaglia, Robbie Rivera, Sander Klienenberg, Chris Lake, Mark Farina, Eric Morillo, Tocadisco... and MANY more.

Keep up with Michael James at michaeljamesdj.com and also visit his fanpage at facebook/michaeljamesdj.

NGM: Was there a show in your life that inspired you to become a DJ? MJ: I was already playing professionally for a while before I got introduced to the EDM scene and the madness it entails. I think WMC ‘05 was the week I realized what I wanted to do with my life. I probably slept 10 hours all week, so many parties, so inspiring.

Corporate Industry

By Heidi Darby

R

oy Ehrett knew the inside of the corporate industry all too well. Not only did he recognize and excel in the many facets of the corporate race, he found a way to the finish line ahead of his peers. After growing tired of his higher-ups taking credit for his foresight, he branched out and began a product line that catered to nightlife. The Outer Edge products offer nightlife lovers a broad arrangement of party, energy, and after-party enhancers, led by Ehrett himself. Ehrett is President of The Outer Edge Incorporated, and his humble nature and determination allowed him to forge a company that listened to those in the market. “Listening to people, asking them what they were looking for in alternative drinks and what created a spark in them, led to our products that excite people outside the norm,” says Ehrett. “We’re working on Pump It energy drink right now. It’s going to be totally unique from any drink in the marketplace, as far as taste and performance. We’ve been working on it for some time now, and are very close to putting it on the market.” With over twenty new offerings on the verge of hitting production, Outer Edge currently offers a variety of products available for purchase, ranging from beverages to sexual enhancers. Three of the most popular products fall in the beverage category. Uphoria is a one-stop shot of body and mind enhancement, that in the words of it’s creator, “sets the nightlife standard.” The shot stimulates the mind and body, creating an awareness and euphoric sense of being that sets the tone for a perfect night out. Koma Unwind is another Outer Edge enhancer, pushing the boundaries of innovation. With a market overflowing with exceedingly caffeinated drinks, Koma Unwind offers a relaxing alternative to the fast paced world of double-espressos. With a delightful grape-rasberry flavor, Koma can be enjoyed straight out of the can or on the rocks with vodka and a squeeze of lime. In the midst of the afore mentioned caffeine frenzy, Outer Edge comes to the rescue with a uniquely different beverage called Zun that not only provides get-up-and-go, but supplies drinkers with a dose of B vitamins and an amazing strawberry cola taste. Ehrett strives to think outside the box with his company, spending a great deal of time assuring that his products are developed to the best of their ability and tested for the highest possible quality. Ehrett takes great pride in his work, and looks forward to launching Pump It, along with many new products in the future. “When I decide to do something, I want it to be the best. I don’t want to do it like other people do it and take short cuts. It’s been painful for a long time to get where I’m at, but it’s been worth it.”

ELECTRIC GUEST By Heidi Darby

“As for the music scene, I think it’s actually amazing in LA. So many people are making great music and more and more people are choosing LA over New York as a place to try and create art. You can still live here and be broke, and make it work.” -Asa Taccone (Pictured Right)

E

lectric Guest creates distinct movement in their music. A movement that stirs emotion in the listener, unlocking a synth-tinged soulfulness that’s heavy on pop-savvy and wrought with hipster groove. Recently releasing their debut full-length album, Mondo, Electric Guest is indie-soul at its finest.

Lead singer Asa Taccone and multi-instrumentalist Matthew Compton received guidance from acclaimed producer Danger Mouse (Gnarls Barkley, The Black Keys, Gorillaz) on the album, which is filled with falsetto and mindful syncopation. Danger Mouse praises the duo on his own web page, relaying the story of his time spent living with frontman Taccone and sharing his perspective of the music development from the beginning. However, his high praise came as a surprise. “He never told me any of that sh*t,” Taccone says of Danger Mouse. “It was actually crazy because when I read what he wrote on his website, I was kind of blown away. If anything, I just figured he thought I was some kid who could be good one day, but not for a long time... He would occasionally complement me but it was usually behind my back to friends or my family and then they’d tell me later.” The album is worthy of the praise. Their single “This Head I Hold” has pop sensibility with a throwback groove that highlights Taccone’s upper register. The frontman grew up in Northern California, influenced by hip hop staples like The Hieroglyphics, E 40 and Too Short, and came full circle by producing for Bay area icon, Gift of Gab. His hip hop roots are apparent on the track “American Daydream,” providing a flavor reminiscent of his influences. Synth-centric tracks like “Holes” offer a sexy psychedelia vibe, whereas darker tracks like “Amber” provide depth for the album. Danger Mouse, who had also struggled with becoming a performer, aided in Taccone’s transition from the studio to the stage. Now touring with a full band, the group picked up their first festival nod with a slot on San Francisco’s Outside Lands Festival. Danger Mouse’s list of accolades is endless, and the talent he saw in Taccone is now realized through Mondo. “He was the best kind of teacher because he never told me why something worked or didn’t, and so he never put his opinions on me in any overt way,” says Taccone. “I remember one time I went over to his house and played him this song I’d written called ‘Have it Grand’ He listened to the whole thing with his eyes closed bobbing his head but when it finished he turned to me and said, ‘What was that? It sounded like adult contemporary.’ He’s always kept it real with me in that way.” 36 niteguidemag.com

FeatureD DJ/Producer May

`

French DJ Swings into the Mainstream By Allie Imai

M

artin Solveig wears many hats- producer, vocalist, music label owner, and occasional tennis enthusiast. Since being crowned #29 in 2011’s DJ Mag Top 100, he has released a handful of massively successful records, played to crowds of thousands at Ultra Music Festival and Coachella, and produced six singles for the Queen of Pop’s 12th studio album. Solveig’s love for music began at an early age in Paris, where he was trained in classical music and choir. It wasn’t until the age of 18 that he realized he could channel this training into an outlet, transitioning into the world of electronic music with great ambition and multi-faceted talent. With four albums under his belt by 2010, Solveig joined forces with Canadian trio Dragonette to produce the hit single “Hello,” an upbeat dance gem that hit the industry with immediate recognition and a playback rate that spanned from festivals to mainstream radio stations. The record has since gone platinum and is still certifiably used as a crowd favorite for top DJs all over the world. This catapult into success generated attention and turned heads from artists in every genre, most recognizably, Madonna. By the end of 2011, Solveig could officially say he had produced six tracks off the idol’s new album, MDNA, including lead single and dance floor anthem “Give Me All Your Luvin.” This genre crossover is nothing new to the scene, as artists like Calvin Harris and David Guetta have defined what it takes to produce a successful collaboration between an electronic producer and a mainstream pop artist. Amidst his busy schedule at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival, Solveig gave us his thoughts on the rise and acceptance of electronic dance music. He says, “Expanding the awareness and the interest for that kind of music is something that is always good when you love this music like I do. And from there it’s also a natural historic thing, a natural movement that starts with the underground that concerns only a few people, and then it expands and becomes a bit more mature like it’s happening now.” Martin Solveig is a producer with an intense ambition to succeed in his craft and a playful lust for life, and has the ability to win over any audience with his endearing personality alone. Look out for new music from the French producer within the year, as well as a summer tour overseas. 38 niteguidemag.com

April IN REVIEW: FEATURED EVENTS ¡Viva Ska Vegas! Brings the Party Henderson Events Plaza [Las Vegas]

By Fred Dyoll | Photography by Fred Morledge/Photo FM ¡Viva Ska Vegas! took the crowd at the Henderson Events Plaza in Las Vegas by storm, providing an all-day Ska music festival that had everyone bouncing, dancing, and having an all-around great time. The event was held on April 28 and featured headlining act The Aquabats. The quirky group, originally from Orange County, appeared onstage in their trademark matching outfits and gave an energetic performance that kept frontman “The MC Bat Commander” bounding into the air while singing all their hits. Also performing were legendary Ska pioneers The Skatalites, who formed in Jamaica and helped shape the genre. The Ska founders had everyone grooving in the crowd right along with them. Rounding out the lineup were Riverside natives Voodoo Glow Skulls, MU330, My Superhero, Monkey and many more. ¡Viva Ska Vegas! created a festival not only for Ska fans, but for live music lovers in general. Starting out with sunny skies, eager listeners, and high-energy bands, the nighttime festivities revealed an amazing set by The Aquabats. During the fest there were masked performers, impressive saxophone solos, and most importantly an audience full of smiles and bobbing heads. After such a successful run, the inaugural event plans to return to Sin City next Spring.

GroupLove rocks sold out show Observatory [Santa Ana]

By Amanda Warlick | Photos Courtesy of MyClubScene.com | Christina Montaldo Grouplove’s sold out show at The Observatory united hundreds of fans, from 7 year olds attending their first concert to hipsters who had just seen them at Coachella. The night started off with opening band, Company of Thieves, pumping up the audience as lead singer Genevieve jumped around the stage and the audience warmed up their head nods that gradually turned into full on dancing. As their set completed and the lights dimmed, what little personal space was available soon filled with eager bodies waiting to see Grouplove. The moment the band of the night appeared, all eyes became glued onstage and Christian Zucconi assured the crowd that everyone is united in the crowded auditorium together as one, to share love. No favorite songs went unsung as Grouplove hit on all favorites from old classics like “Gold Coast” to the hit single “Colours.” After ten songs played and audience members thought the show was over, Grouplove recharged the crowd’s energy with an encore that included the radio favorite “Tongue Tied” where their former tour partner, Young the Giant, joined them onstage. Cameras were pulled out instantly and flashes of light filled the air as the audience captured the moment that concluded a phenomenal evening.

Cali Love Pool Party

Palms Pool & Bungalows [Palms Casino Las Vegas] By Allie Imai | Photography by MyClubScene.com | Gabe Zapata Las Vegas pool parties are synonymous with beautiful people, flattering bikinis, and carefree summer living. The Palms Pool and Bungalows has been the hotspot for all of these over the past few years, transferring every social standard that Vegas embodies to lounge poolside for a season. California Love debuted at The Palms in 2010 and has proven to be a local favorite ever since, thanks much in part to the hotel’s beautiful bungalows and two acres of swimming pools for 3,000 guests to get wet and wild in. The impressive sound system has led to a booking history of the top electronic music producers in the industry, including Kaskade, Markus Schulz and Cosmic Gate. Till Dawn Group launched Cali Love’s 2012 season on March 31st with a special debut. Orange County duo Sex Panther played an energetic set, and despite being so far away from summer season, the pool was packed with tanned partygoers and colorful bikinis. The weekly event will continue every Saturday through the duration of summer, and with guaranteed free entry, there’s no excuse why you shouldn’t be lounging poolside with a tropical drink in hand. Say NiteGuide Magazine at the door for free entry every Saturday!

Celebrities such as Zac Efron, Rob Kardashian, Brody Jenner, Vinny Guadagnino, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, and Christina Milian joined Kenny and remained at AGENCY to enjoy DJ Chris Lake for the remainder of the evening.

With things going so well, watch out for the possibility of affairs. This could ruin everything you have worked so hard for.

By Kristin Halberg
