Harsh Times LTG Introduction Greetings Key Clubbers! My name is Harsh Swaminarayan and I will be serving on the New Jersey District Board as the Lieutenant Governor of Division 15. It is an honor to be serving on the board and I pledge on doing my absolute best to serve my home, school and community. Outside of Key Club, I am a member of the yearbook staff and a writer/editor for the school newspaper. I enjoy spending my time reading, writing, watching movies and hanging out with friends and family. As Lieutenant governor, I have great things in mind for our division but to accomplish these extravagant plans, I need the full participation of every club and every member. Whether it is dues payments or monthly report forms, I am here for reference and help so feel free to contact me at any given time. In September if someone approached me letting me know that I would be the Lieutenant Governor of an entire division in the New Jersey District within a few months, I would have considered them to be crazy. Here I am, ready to serve and proceed in continuing

Volume 1 Issue 1

In this issue! LTG Introduction...........1

to make Division 15 better than ever. As I look back, I can’t conclude on exactly what prompted me in running for the position but, today, I’m unquestionably glad I did. As an enthusiastic member at the Key Club of William L. Dickinson High School, I learned many things which I’m sure can help me pave our division’s further path to success. I am eager to get to work and work with everyone to make Division 15 better than ever. If anyone has fundraising ideas or something in particular they wish to do to help reach the Key Club fundraising goal for Children’s Specialized Hospital, our district project for the 2010-2011 service year, please feel free to notify me. I am always open to new ideas and believe that the only way we can thrive is if the opinions and ideas of everyone are considered.

Announcements and Reminders Purpose of PCMs and OTCs PCMs, otherwise known as President’s Council Meetings allow the Lieutenant Governor to be on top of all of the things in their division and help towards the continued success. They are a meeting of officers from a division where international, district, divisional and club information is discussed. All Presidents are required to attend PCMs, in the event that a President can’t make it to the scheduled PCM, they should notify the Lieutenant Governor of their division and send a representative from their club. OTCs are an acronym for Officer Training Conferences and are a meeting of the officers of each club in the division held by the Lieutenant Governor meant to train the officers. In the middle of June, Division 15 will have its very first OTC to start training officers and give them their training manuals to ensure they carry out their jobs properly

throughout the course of the service year. It is recommended that all officers attend at least one OTC which is held because without the proper training, the triumph of their club can’t be guaranteed. Also, OTCs allow the Lieutenant Governor to personally meet the officers in their division and also allow officers from each club to become familiar with each other. The purpose of OTCs is not only to train officers but to come together, collaborate on ideas about events and projects and help each other out on things ranging from membership dues to upcoming service events. To ensure the wellbeing and continued success of our division, it is absolutely crucial for presidents and officers to attend every meeting that they possible can. These meetings will involve a alliance of ideas from every club in the division. It will also allow club officers to become trained to carry out their tasks properly and increase personal involvement in Key Club.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS Club Monthly Report Forms are due at the 10th of EACH month and are to be sent in to the Lieutenant Governor, District Secretary, Zone Administrator and Kiwanis Club The next divisional event will be a ribbon sale for CSH. Ribbons will be baby blue and will be sold for $1. All Clubs are encouraged to participate, keep an eye on your e-mails for more information

The first PCM will be scheduled once every club has had their elections and new officers for the 2010-2011 Service Year have been elected Key Club International Convention will be held in Memphis, Tennessee from July 7-11. If you are interested in attending, please contact me through an e-mail or a phone call
