August Newsletter Hello! It’s your Division 11 Lieutenant Governor again. Can you believe it’s already August?! As we all scramble to get our summer reading and pre-class assignments done, we also have to remember the upcoming Key Club year. It’s time to think about our plans for events, RTCs, Fall Rally, and especially that first Key Club meeting. The first meeting is the most important as it sets the tone for the rest of the year and must catch the initial attention of new members and reengage the old members. I recommend having a meeting for all officers in the second week of the school year (before RTCs- September 26th) to plan out the first meeting and brainstorm ideas and an agenda for the rest of the year. Due to the fast coming of Fall Rally (October 10th) the first meeting with members should be at least to weeks before October 10th and of course after the officers meeting. A perfect way to prepare for the upcoming school year’s Key Clubs would be to attend my PCM and contact me with a time you are free to be trained (an OTC)! We’ll be able to get to know each
Once again I ask you all to please work with me as best you can and check your emails regularly. Please do not hesitate to contact me through texts, calls, emails, and facebook for anything at all! I have had a great time this month as your Lieutenant Governor and am extremely excited for what more is to come!

SERVICE THE ELIMINATE PROJECT By: LTG Neepam Shah Division 19
On June 24th, at the Kiwanis International Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Kiwanis International Board unveiled their Worldwide Service Project for the 2010-2011 Kiwanis Service Year: The Eliminate Project. This project is in conjunction with UNICEF, and is an effort to defeat maternal and neonatal tetanus.
Maternal and neonatal tetanus are forms of tetanus that occur either during pregnancy or shortly after birth, and claims the lives of 60,000 babies and 30,000 mothers from 40 different countries annually. Fortunately, it is also easily curable. Merely three doses of an immunization can rid a person of this disease. At 60 cents per immunization, it costs only $1.80 to save a life. Kiwanis International has set a worldwide goal of $110 million to help fight this terrible disease. That amount could save 61,111 lives.
However, just because The Eliminate Project is the Kiwanis Wordwide Service Project, it isn’t exclusive only to Kiwanis clubs. As Key Clubbers, we should help our parent organization reach this goal, and work towards ridding this world of one more tragic disease. Not only is Fall Rally an amazing event, it is also the largest gathering of Key Clubbers in the world and this year we are going to reach 3,000 attendees!

On October 10th get ready to have the time of your life! You’ll feel the wind in your hair from some of the biggest and fastest roller coasters in the world, hear the cheering from all directions as 3,000 Key Clubbers from all over New Jersey gather together, and sense the hairs on your neck stand on end as zombies and ghouls add a certain fright to your night. That’s right! Fall Rally is just around the corner! Are you ready to get inspired, be thrilled, and have the chills all in one night? All in one place? All at one amazing event!? Then start talking to your adviser now about transportation and coordination for Fall Rally on October 10th.
Now it’s simple, do you want to help make history this October 10th? Do you want to have the time of your life, with frights, heights and cheers? and do you want to meet Key Clubbers from all over the state? Then you want Fall Rally!

PCMs! A president’s council meeting or a PCM is simply a meeting among club presidents. It is a great way for all the clubs in the division to get together and discuss their clubs. It gives everyone a chance to showcase all the great work the clubs have been doing, and it is also a time to share problems any club might be having and receive feedback from your fellow presidents. It also allows me to update you on District information and help you with your clubs. We have already decided on the date of September 3rd which I hope you all can attend. Please contact with any scheduling conflicts as soon as possible. We will have more meetings throughout the year, but this first meeting will be a way for me to extend the basic information and advice I gave and will be giving you all in our training meetings to get you ready for the Key Club year ahead.

Regional Training Conferences! The closest RTC to us will be held at John P. Stevens High school in Edison, NJ on Sunday, September 26th from 9am-1pm. All officers should try to attend and general members are more than welcome! This will be a fun and informative conferences and will surely supply you with tons of information of how to better your clubs and have a great year! Get ready to Rock Out with Service!
Officer Training Conferences! OTCs are my opportunity to train all of the officers and give you all advice on carrying out your duties. I will be holding phone meetings individually and simply going over each of your responsibilities and listening to your plans for the future of your clubs. I have already talked to/trained about half of you and want to say thank you for fitting me in and listening to all I had to say!
